Re: Cantina

OOC: Alrighty, I'm going to try out a thought I had so if you guys dont like it, just say so and I'll edit.

*As the Vong leaped into the air over him, everything seemed to slow down for what seemed like minutes instead of seconds. Venin watched as the Vongs deformed body seemed to gracefully fly over his honking 8 foot long/tall figure.*

=Venin=
How the kriff did he do that???

Not sure...but we got a wall.

*Just as Toxoid said it, the giant Gen'Dai collided face first into the wall that had been behind the Vong, followed by the rest of him. Bouncing off the wall, Toxoid landed on his back with a very loud crash as he destroyed a table beneath him. Growling in frustration, Toxoid slowly stood up and stretched out his cramped muscles just as the Vong's blade stuck into his back. Letting out a soft "Umff" as the blade struck, Toxoid turned around to face the Vong, who was still standing in his throwing stance. Narrowing his gaze upon the Vong, Toxoid twisted his back so that both he and the Vong could see the knife sticking out of his back.*

*Smirking with an emphatic grunt, tendrils came out from the sides of the blade and began to wrap themselves around it, encasing it in a pink and fleshy tomb before being pulled into Toxoid's very body. After a few moments, tendrils appeared out of the palm of his right hand and pushed the blade out and into Toxoid's waiting grasp. After the forced wound healed and the tendrils vanished, Toxoid held the blade up to his face and sickeningly licked the side of it, which was covered in a slime like goo. Grin widening, he said.*

I always knew you Vong were back stabbers...never thought I'd get one in the back from ya literally though.

*With a sharp "HA!" Toxoid then hurled the blade back at its owner, aiming for his central mass.*

Re: Cantina

*The Hurom cantina is large, befitting the main cantina of the main city of a planet of several billion inhabitants. Alatoi Lux strides in, skin glowing white, silvery white-gray robes still draped over his form. Trying not to make a scene. Diathim always make a scene, though. Nearly the moment he walked in, a crowd formed around him. Polite as he was, there was no helping it...he had to answer all the questions thrown his way. It felt like a burden, to be admired based solely on appearance. And appearances were everything, apparently. It went that way for him, too; it's why his lightsabers were not worn openly, but rather beneath his robes, to be ejected by pulling certain threads in the sleeves with a finger here or there. Still, one can hardly say that attention is all bad. Thanks to the crowd of locals, he was able to ascertain some details about John Tien and his occupation of the planet that the Force had omitted from its revelations.*

*He learned that Tien's installation here was a subset of the Fourth Galactic Empire. The Fourth Galactic Empire was apparently a relatively new entity, formed from the merging of the Tarisian Empire and the Horica Sovereign Empire, to name the principals. Citizens of the empire were more than willing to divulge that much when he petitioned them-- but they didn't really know any more than that. Political unrest can only be speculated, as feelings of treachery are usually hidden behind closed doors.*

*The local news (in audio version) was not focused on international dealings, however. It instead focused on a domestic occurrence: the murder of two local troopers the night before. One of the troopers had had his armor ripped off and had been completely devoured, while the other body was found headless. Taking in the news of the tragedy, Alatoi could only shake his head sadly and comment softly.*

"There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death, there is the Force. May that day hasten its arrival."

*Alatoi's eye was taken to the other side of the massive diner, where a barrier had been erected: a smashed table and broken glass and... bloodstains? Evidence of a fight.*

Re: Cantina

*Pushing open the cantina door, Venin slide into the cantina with a fluidity that showed that he had been here many times. He sat down at an empty booth, barely taking notice of the angel that had entered the bar ahead of him. He had a lot on his mind.*

=Toxoid=
Now, we are but to wait and see what the local authorities come up with.

Then what? Pounce on the thing that killed our side dish?

=Toxoid=
Well....whats wrong with that?

Everything is wrong with that Tox. I think we should be looking for the easiest and fastest ride off to the next system...

=Toxoid=
I hells no Ven, we are staying till either this is sorted out or we are driven off this planet. Get me?

Fine...fine.......fine...but that means I'm tapping into the hard stuff.

*Signalling the bartender, he nodded and brought a large bottle of Mandalorian tihaar, set it on the table with a separate glass and left. Pouring a tall glass Venin downed the whole thing, set the glass down, sighed, filed it and repeated.*

Re: Cantina

*Alatoi had been sitting for about an hour, eating merely an appetizer and drinking several glasses of water, when into the cantina slithered a spider-adorned spandex suit with a shady sulk to the stride.*

*It seemed his waiting had paid off-- although really, what was he waiting for, anyways? Well, it would be easy enough to say that the Force had told him to be here, but that wasn't true. Truth be told, Alatoi had been left alone by the crowds now, and he had been taking a moment to let the situation materialize in his mind. Best to act with calm judgement, and calm judgement can only come from a mind that has extricated itself from the mires of immediacy.*

*In short, he had been sitting alone for the sake of sitting alone in thought. But the conspicuously attired fellow certainly collected Alatoi's notice. Immediately, he called on the Force to enhance his hearing. And he silently cursed himself for not having done so from the start-- why was he not taking this opportunity to train himself??*

"Right, right, sitting alone for the sake of sitting alone in thought. Selfishness, in short..."

      ~Force-listening~

*Currently, the figure (can't tell if it's male or not-- it seems that it lacks traditional male genitalia, the skintight suit reveals that much, as well. Or perhaps black is just a slimming color. Really slimming.) is drinking a shot. Alatoi doubted that it would say anything too important. Unless it was in the habit of talking to itself. Still, even a whisper would be caught by the Force-enhanced hearing.*

*So how can you slice his attention-grabbing-ness any other way? Black skintight bodysuit, that's conspicuous, right? Black is evil anyways, yes? Bodysuit covering the face, totally sketchy, is it not? No matter how you cut it, it's clear that this guy...is a suspicious person. But suspicious is not guilty.*

*It had been much too long since Alatoi used the Force to hear anything but...well, the Force itself. A nice change of pace.*

Re: Cantina

*Downing another glass of the powerful spirits, Venin glanced about the room, keeping a constant mental tab of all those within the bar and using his hyper listening abilities to keep track of any flighty heart beats or words passed within. There was one, curious heart beats rhythm that he had not heard in many years...and it was coming from the "Angel" he had mentally noted and passed over upon his entrance. Glancing over to the angelic creature, he noticed that it was looking back at him. Curling his lips in a twisted and jagged grin, Venin tipped his head towards the opposite side of his booth, inviting the creature to join him.*

=Toxoid=
What is wrong with you?

I'm feeling sociable, shut up.

Re: Cantina

*He got caught staring. Venin's eyes met Alatoi's gaze, and the creature beckoned him over. Alatoi nodded slowly to indicate that he was coming, and brought his hands to his belt. As he brought out a credit chip and laid it on the table, he took the moments before he stood himself up to mentally berate the laziness and carelessness that led to this development.*

*Lessons learned, problem will not happen again.*

*Since a social situation in a bar is not a particularly bad thing, Alatoi was fortunate; but he could not relax the standards for himself, as those who trifle with small matters are just as likely to trifle with large ones.*

*Calmly walking over to the seated figure, Alatoi bowed before taking a seat across from him.*

"Your humble guest, Jedi Knight Alatoi Lux at your service."
*Not a hint of reproach or hesitation in his words.*

*When Alatoi came over, though, he did not relax his focus on listening through the Force. What was revealed by that facet was quite a shock: this was definitely no human that sat in front of him.*

*He had no heartbeat.*

Re: Cantina

*As the Angel sat down across from him, Venin had to squint his eyes to try to keep out some of the radiant light the came forth from the creatures very skin. But, unable to keep his humor to himself, he began chuckling at the "divine" creatures introduction. Also, while able to keep Toxoid's desired actions under a tight leash, he could not keep his desired words to himself. Thus, through the second set of vocals that Toxoid had created for himself within Venin's odd biology, he said.*

=Toxoid=
Greetings Glowbug. Might I pluck your wings to see if thy can fly still?

Tox, don't be so rude. He's a Jedi after all.

=Toxoid=
So he said Ven...I dont like him.

Then keep your opinions to yourself less he finds you insane.

=Toxoid=
No doubt we are to late in such a case.

*With a soft chuckle from Tox, he became silent there after for a time.*

Forgive him Knight Lux...Toxoid can be rather cranky about your kind...and I mean Jedi not Angels. Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Venin. Would you like a drink? Its Mandalorian.

Re: Cantina

"Glowbug? Indeed, you point out perfectly a great flaw...this skin glows much too brightly. So you...are two beings? This Jedi has never come across such a unique being before."

*In order to sit without damaging his membranous wings, all three sets had to be folded just so. Their glow was muffled as they nestled into the folds of his robes. His face, however, remained the same; his eyes with their iridescent irises focused unblinkingly on Venin. He held his palm up to the offered drink, politely refusing.*

"The angel who accepts alcohol drinks his own poison, though your offer is most gracious. Venin, you are well-mannered indeed. You other, Toxoid, come off as perhaps a bit..." *Alatoi's eyes flitted shut for just a moment, as if he sought the right word to use without being too offensive.* "...dissonant. Not insane, though, certainly. Well met, Toxoid and Venin."

*A line slipped into Alatoi's mind:*
There is no chaos, there is harmony.

*He knew, he knew. But this was a curious case indeed, and if it was just this, it could be overlooked. Especially since it was two beings. Alatoi had to reconsider; usually, he is able to make a spot-on decision in a matter of moments, but this pair made it hard to assess.*

*At any rate, the Force had said nothing of these two at the beginning. The real interest was John Tien; and even then, who knows how how circumstances will align so that he can be approached.*

*Alatoi's brow furrowed as he realized he'd let a wordless void fall between them while he rudely pondered matters. In search of a topic of conversation, he struck out:*

"...As it turns out, this Jedi happens to be writing a book of contemporary events. On Thule, it appears that everyone is in a fuss about the deaths of two Imperial soldiers. Your humble servant surely oversteps his bounds, but...you seem as though you could be 'in the know', do you...?"
*He let his words trail off. Whether Venin and Toxoid knew anything or not, it was a topic sure to break the silence. Even if they weren't from the area, there'd be words to share about the incident. Everyone has an opinion or a perspective.*

Re: Cantina

*When Venin and Toxoid spoke or made any other form of verbal motion, it always sounded as if two separate people were talking over each other and in unison. This was the case now as Venin and Toxoid both began chuckling at the Angel's ignorance. Through the laughter, Venin barely managed to get out.*

No no...my Jedi friend....1 body...2 minds!!!

*Bringing their laughter to a slow close, Venin first sipped then downed the mug of tihaar and quickly filled it over a series of quite chuckles.*

Sorry bout that...don't usually burst into such obnoxious laughter like that...but, as I said, I am one body, but over the thousands of years of life that I have experienced, I developed a....tag-a-long.

=Toxoid=
More like a better half if I do say so myself.

Tox, you always say so yourself, thats why I really hate you so much....

=Toxoid=
Ah....now why do you have to go and be so harsh Ven? You've gone and hurt my feelings...

*Toxoid then chuckled a bit to show that he wasnt serious and Venin sighed over it.*

Anyways, I haven't been here long myself so I wouldnt know anything about these Stormy deaths. Nor do I really care all that much...

*Venin then picked up his mug and took a long pull from it.*

Re: Cantina

"Ah, please forgive this slow-witted man, for he did not understand...your mind has broken in two. Such things can be repaired, you know. If you did, which one would you keep..." *Alatoi commented without thinking. What was he doing! He had just tried to stop talking about Venin uncomfortably!*
"Apologies, apologies! After this clumsy fool had even changed the subject, he cannot help but be too critical once again!"

*Alatoi's skin burned a bit more brightly, as a normal being might flush in embarrassment. It was well-tempered, though, for another line slipped into his mind.*
There is no emotion, there is peace.
*It was no ruse. His face had truly flushed. But when the line from the prophecy came to mind, it brought his awareness acutely away from himself and more securely to his environment.*

*Venin didn't know anything about the stormtroopers, so it was pointless to speculate about them, especially when it was merely a conversation topic. Something that neither of them knew much about isn't a very good one at all. Alatoi, solitaire that he may be, can at least recognize this much in terms of etiquette.*

Re: Cantina

*Venin was all for inducing fear in his victims, or just everyone around him in general, but to get constant apologies from someone when he wasnt even trying to be scary just meant this dude has issues...more then he did.*

=Toxoid=
Dude...I'm all for getting my butt kissed, but you can lay off the apologies before it starts getting to my head and I start acting like an Alderaanian Senator.

Tox...that wasnt very nice...

=Toxoid=
Ven, do I look like a nice person?

..........point taken..........

=Toxoid=
Exactly.

*Rolling his eyes in frustration, Venin turned his attention back to his drink and said to the Angelic Jedi.*

So...changing the subject...what brings you to this Imperial pit of a planet?
