Re: Construction Slips

*As the days had finally begun to pass the droids by, their list of things to make had nearly come to an end. After having shipped off the last order to Coruscant a couple of days ago things had once again gotten quiet around the construction slips. Why did no one want their ships? The answer of course had been easy to find as many ships were ripped out of Raxus prime like they were fresh off the production line, or they had turned to Kuat for the supposed better selection.

Rolling his robotic eyes about in his head, one of the workers had rejoined his comrades in metal as they began to piece together the newest order that had taken seemingly forever to start and process.*

Re: Construction Slips

Behind the Scenes

*Alright, so what happens when a company's CEO gets caught red handed sleeping with three underage Ewoks of mixed gender? Usually nothing besides a nasty rash. Okay, now what happens when the media gets wind of it? A big old Sithspit storm and possibly a forced resignation. Okay, now what happens when said CEO's wife finds out? She divorces him, moves out, and takes the kids with her. The CEO? Well, someone should probably go check out his flat in the city. Chances are he's hanging from the ceiling fan with a rope around his neck. Not a pleasant story, I know, but sometimes these things happen. In this case, that's exactly what happened.*

*And who am I telling you this story? Well, I was one of those Ewoks.*

*Preston J. Bigglesworth the II, a short furry sentient with an ambitious spirit and a hard-on for all things aerospace design, strode into the office. He was just under a meter in height, slightly portly around the waist, and cute as a button. His fur was a shiny chestnut brown, conditioned and oiled so as to remain goose feather soft. Like all Ewoks his eyes were black and beady, though his lips curled in such a way as to present a warm face as opposed to a savage native man-eating bear creature. In his right hand was a spear made of Felucian cherry wood and tipped with a river stone from his native home of Endor (the forest moon).*

*The spear was to show that he meant business. No more lazing around like duloks, not under his reign of terror. Err, I mean, under his firm but fair position of leadership. Yeah, that sounds a bit nicer.*

*He seated himself behind the former CEO's desk, making sure to adjust the chair appropriately so that he could actually see over the polished table. His thoughts drifted to how he had received the position, causing him to sigh and reflect on past romantic encounters.* *Once the media got hold of the story, Preston had threatened to sue. In order to keep everything hush hush, the company had offered him the newly freed up position. Having a business background in finance and sales, well, it was all too easy for the Ewok to say yes.* *Now here he was, smoking another man's cigars and working off a sore bottom. All in all, life was pretty good.*

*As the months ticked down and a series of orders were completed, the yard's delivery tugs tractored two Bavos-II Military Space Platforms away from the facility and secured them with tow cables and magnetic seals. Within the hour they were hyperspace bound, heading towards the Colonies.*

*A Mr. Cedrick Olkowski, walks into the offices and heads for the CEO's office. Mr. Biggelsworth, having disappeared while on vacation, has not been heard from for almost a year now. The Directorate decided to appoint Mr Olkowski as the new CEO. He was a stock broker, and owned 43% of the company personally. His portfolio had much to recommend him, he'd made several hundred million off of the markets. At 36 years old he was perhaps the youngest man to hold the position of CEO for Rendili StarDrive.*

*I walk in and glance around at the enormous office before walking around the desk in the center of the room. I take a moment to look back at the now closed double doors, before sitting down and booting the terminal on the desk.*

Audio authorization accepted. Welcome to Rendili StarDrive, Mr. Olkowski.

Thank you, I hope this is the first of many good days, both for me and Rendili.

*I smile as I sit back and relax in the comfortable nerf-hide chair.*

*After several business associates failed to pull through with a contract, Mr. Olkowski had decided to invest in his own mining enterprise. And now the first stage was complete, and RSD had an operational mine on Rendili's surface, in fact a shipment of ore had just arrived this morning. Now that the mineral mine was up and running it was time to launch the gas mining on the gas giant in system, and maybe put a few mineral mines on some of the more stable moons. He planned to run the operation with a few heavily modified and unarmed Type I light defense platforms, that would float in the upper atmosphere and harvest it's gases for use in the Rendili defense force and future research. The platforms were undergoing the modifications now, and would hopefully be deployed by the end of the year.*

*Engineering receives an order for 20 MS 220's and one DSDP, and immediately begin their construction. The metalworks, begins molding the the immense pieces of metal alloy that will be required in constructing the ships. The electrical components are handled by another section of the metalworks, engineers oversee it all, checking and double checking that everything was done right. Droids begin to assemble the parts and the skeletal frame of the DSDP begins to take shape, the MS 220's are begin to take shape in their berths as droids carefully secure each new piece, systematically checking for manufacturer's errors in each part before installing it.*

*The Shipyard continues working on the order, being meticulous in every detail. One might think this would slow them down, but it doesn't because everyone is working together to be sure it's done right the first time, so that no time is wasted fixing mistakes. The ships are all on schedule and will soon be ready for delivery.*

*Tugs pull the DSDP out of the shipyards and away from Rendili proper to begin the delivery trip. Skeleton crews take the MS 220's out of their dry docks and begin pulling away form the planet towards their own delivery point.*

*While going through his holo-messages, Cedrick finds one that catches his eye. Apparently an old buddy from school had heard about a new business proposal and passed it on, thinking that Cedrick would be interested. After looking through the proposal and weighing the odds for a bit, he decided that it did indeed have some merit. Checking his schedule, he cancels a few meetings with minor business men trying to get him to pay for something he didn't need, and sent a message to Lt. Enkarris, telling him to prepare the Koray for Cedrick's eminent departure. Then he locked his console, and went to pack for the trip.*

*The staff continues to run Rendili StarDrive even as Cedrick is out and about at some conference or another. They process a few small orders for various customers across the galaxy, mostly small security details. Relations with the planetary government are opened and ore is purchased as it is needed for the construction of various vessels.*

Re: Construction Slips

*Mr. Olkowski returned from his prolonged absence with much on his mind. A series of new laws being passed in the republic were going to cause him a great deal of trouble. So upon returning to his office he began to implement a few fall back plans. He had various R&D files copied to data chips, which he stowed in his brief case, He also manged to finagle a small fortune, of 2.5 billion credits, from the company coffers through various loop holes in company policy that had been accidentally overlooked. After checking that all the company blue prints and design specs had been successfully copied, and were still intact, he finished out the day in the office, leaving the offices at 1705 (5:05 pm) Local Rendili Time. After packing his meager belongings into two traveling crates, which his guards then carried to the Koray.

Cedrick went to a favorite mini-bar on station that was just opening up for the higher ups, and enjoyed a decent evening of cards and small talk, before making his way to the Koray, which had been refueled and loaded with extra provisions, as it may be quite some time before he can get his own operations underway. Upon arriving at the Koray, it slipped quietly out of its berth and into open space. Perhaps he wasn't meant to run a shipyard after all, who knows, fate was a cruel thing. Still, he had his plans, and only time could tell what fruit they would bear.

The Koray traveled with minimal systems up, so as to evade the lax system security, which they did with little difficulty, since they had the advantage of knowing the patrol patterns and habits of the local security forces, from years of working with them. Once the Koray made it out of the gravity well, a course was plotted though the stars and then with a pull of a lever, the pilot sent the Koray down the path he had plotted. Destination, unknown, and even if they were tracked, it would be to a back water system, where a long and tedious search would find that the Koray, and its passengers, had long since departed.

After this incedent, Mr. Olkowski was never seen again at Rendili StarDrive, or any of it's subsidiaries, nor did anyone here ever hear from, or of, him again.*

Re: Construction Slips

*Air and office furniture was literally sucked out the door, along with anything else not securely fastened down. Employees screamed in terror as they were vacuumed out of the main office and hall. The miid ro'ik off the station's stern side had secured a lock with its dread weapon. Now it was only a matter of allowing the organic vacuum to swallow up any inhabitants inside the facility.* *It was a rather effective tool, if not without its risks. Inevitably the people inside the shipyards would end up inside the Praetorite Command, which placed the warship at risk from a prisoner uprising.* *Or at least it would have if there wasn't a small force of Yuuzhan Vong warriors on the other side, whipping balls of blorash jelly at anyone sucked through the dread weapon and spat out in the Command's interior. For the more resistant detainees, sometimes the razor stiff smack of an amphistaff whip was required to get the point across. There was also plenty of room to set examples for the other soon-to-be-slaves. Some would die so that the others would remain compliant and defeated. Skinned cadavers hung from the yorik-coral cages inside the miid ro'ik, striking fear into the hearts of the brave and cowardly alike.*

*Pod troopers were also dispatched to run a sweep through the business. Little eruptions on the surface of the shipyards signaled the yorik-coral pods finding their marks and releasing vonduun skerr kyrric clad warriors into the facility. Barabas Lah was one such soldier, a sick and depraved lout who enjoyed his work a little too much. Not everyone was sucked away by the dread weapon. A few unfortunate souls had managed to seal themselves in airtight rooms.* *They were unfortunate rather than fortunate because this meant they would all endure a painful death. Be it from a lack of oxygen, or...* *A blast bug explosion rocked a door off its hinges, sucking the resulting smoke out of the room along with all of the air. Barabas entered to find a young man in a suit and tie, kneeling on the ground, clutching at his throat as though it would ease the burning in his lungs. Oppositely, the warrior caste felt no discomfort, having oxygen fed into the gnullith on his face through the lungworm he had strapped to his back. Rather than pinion the employee with his amphistaff, Barabas simply stood there and watched the man suffocate to death. His mqaaq'it lit up while his eye sacs inflated, hinting towards the amusement the barbaric warrior found in the human's suffering. When he was certain the man was dead, he moved on to the next room.*

*Other warriors dealt with the infidel technology. Cedrick had no doubt been careful to cover his tracks, but it certainly didn't hurt to have a bunch of Yuuzhan Vong warriors tear the place apart, further sowing the seeds of confusion. They struck consoles with their amphistaffs, set rooms aflame with their fire spitters (assuming little oxygen existed), and blasted anything unknown into itty bits with their blast bugs and plasma eels. Any corpses found were skinned and stringed up. Little beads of crimson were already beginning to crystallize as life support failed, no longer keeping the cold of space at bay. The warriors were methodical in their work, creating retched displays so grotesque it made a rancors choobies look pleasant by comparison. For all the hundreds if not thousands of workers that occupied the facility, maybe a few dozen died, the rest having been captured and destined for a life of slavery in the Unknown Regions.*
