Dubstep

For those who have a passion for Dubstep, drumstep, or what ever step. Don't know it? You can find many music online in it's own dubstep version. It's more heavier then techno. And what blows most people away, is the 'drop'. :D

Re: Dubstep

Awh why you hurtin on the step? :>

It's a great rush of a song if you do any sports like snowboarding, Youtube is exploading all over with dubstep. It's something like techno but with more bass i guess. The modern clubmusic? YES ;] Scrillex just ruined dubstep with 'Get up' -_- Besides that it seems like a huge hit, keep a look out you might even find something you like :D

Re: Dubstep

From a musical standpoint it's severely lacking. In many aspects, the most notable being a melody, harmony, and percussive coalescence. Granted, there's many such music that seems to appear to be missing at least one of these categories, but they are severely modern and trying to 'make a name' for themselves. Dubstep is merely a new fashion of music that, in my opinion and hopefully, will die out soon. Yes, it adds a new 'perspective' on many songs and is used in some of the more recent ones, but it has no basis on what keeps it original in my opinion. All dubstep sounds the same, which after awhile, people will get over. We all do. Simply put, it's garbage in comparison to real music, and I'm not talking about Gaga or Brittney or whoever else, merely music that actually tries to further the advancement of it without detracting from the hundreds of years since it's conception.

Sorry if it appears I'm 'charging' dubstep, but I am merely putting in my two cents. I do, however, appreciate the fact that it has gotten many people more involved with music recently, so for that it has my attention.

Re: Dubstep

Keep in mind that techno is simular and has been around for more then 30 years. The earliest form of Dubstep was in the late 90's. 'Korn' the band which i have no interest in featured Scrilex's work in a song named 'Get up' Which only made dubstep more noticable, I am no fan of Scrillex himself or his work. Dubstep is merely another form of techno, just more heavy with the bass and other sounds. So in pop culture, Dubstep has made its way. I do agree that it is nothing compared to the good old fashioned music from strong singers like Aerosmith or guns n' roses, there is absolutely no comparisn.

Dubstep has boomed over the last 3 years after its 10 year existance, maybe a modern alt version of Techno but i do believe soon enough it will become more popular. The sounds of early techno have just lost its touch like 70's apparel has fallen out of modern fashion. Dubstep will get more popular but one day there will be something that will show up and make dubstep sound old school.

Re: Dubstep

I completely agree that it's a heavier form of techno, which is another form of music that I don't care about for the reasons I've already state, though they do have more melodies intertwined with the music. Still...people have an odd idea of how music should progress. It's being taken from the capabilities of the artist to computers who essentially can't screw it up. It's the nuances that people added to music that made it what it is, and giving it to computers who can all replicate the same sound has taken out the individuality and the translations from artist to listener. I just feel music is headed in the wrong direction, but people will do as they will.

I am interested to see how this will further grow, outside of where it is now. Maybe it can truly take on the mantel becoming a real genre of music. There are times that I can listen to it, but it's rare and far between. haha
