Re: Fountain Palace

OOC: I know it's bad juju to type OOC on the IC boards, but I dont really care at this point... Some people have shown up and claim the owned the planet even though it was clearly abandoned, and since they do not care to RP any kind of defenses and wish to ooc alot and I didnt come back to this game for a lot of ooc BullS*** lets just transfer this whole RP to Korriban... of course we cant actually move the RP but we can he our characters act like we were on korriban the whole time... Sith Academy, entrance hall.. if you care to follow me.

Once more I know I'm not supposed to ooc on the boards but I really dont care to ooc anywhere, so it makes no difference if i do it here or not. See you guys on korriban.

PS for the "defenders"... Please if we come across each other in another RP, please just RP with me, even if you think i have done something against your ideals... IC it and explain the mistake IC... since I will no longer be checking an ooc boards as they make the game boring and unenjoyable for me.

Re: Fountain Palace

=The Queen Mother=
*The now-elderly Queen Mother Sara McEvedy walked briskly from one end of the Great Hallway to the other, graceful even in her old age as she enjoyed her morning stroll through the pathways of her palace, stopping here and there to gaze out at some favorite part of the Ta'a Chume'Dan skyline, or the rolling hills beyond it. It was pleasant here. And quiet. She liked it. Truly, closer political association with their allies on Corellian had been the correct choice, even with the Jedi involvement that it inseparably brought. The Cluster was as calm as always, and if anything, stronger militarily, despite breaking their silence with the outer galaxy.*

Re: Fountain Palace

=Commander Willis Djo=
*Commander Djo had been halfway down the front steps on the Fountain Palace, on his way home for the day after another fruitless attempt to gain new defense funds when his military-channel comlink buzzed. It had been so long since he had seen anything come through on the active duty channel, that he stared in surprise, before picking up. As he listened to the Golan captain, however, he retraced his steps, his pace quickening as he made his way back inside, and down to the military command center level. He was getting a tangled story, but from the command center, he could access the data stream for himself. And truth be told, his eyes were the only pair he trusted anymore.*

*Stepping inside the command center, Djo looked around, then almost wished he hadn't.* *No one was at their stations.* "Attention!" *He yelled.* "Look alive. We have a gen-you-ine threat today. This is no drill, and I don't wany any backtalk. Put the sabaac cards away."

=Command Center Crew=
*There was a wild scramble as the men complied. There was something in Djo's tone that they hadn't heard in a long time (or ever, for some of the more junior officers), and for once, they actually complied, albeit slowly.*

=Commander Djo=
"Lt. Miles, get me tactical feeds from both Golans." *Djo begain to bark off orders as he reached his desk.* "Sgt. Simmers, see if the Matriarch can give you any com recordings to analyze."

Re: Fountain Palace

*The tactical feeds from the Golan platforms showed the sudden arrival of the hostile taskforce as it moved against the Matriarch, but then suddenly, the feeds were cut as the jamming swirled and garbled the signals coming in from orbit.*

=Cmdr Djo=
"Well, frak. That's going to be a problem. Lt. Miles, are our scanners online yet?"

=Lt Miles=
"Almost ready, sir. The computer crashed, I had to restart it." *Came the young tech's voice, muffled somewhat as he stuck his head inside an antiquated computer casing.*

=Cmdr Djo=
"Lt. Casey, is the hypercom working?"

=Lt. Casey=
"Negative, sir." *A woman's harried voice replied.* "I blew out the main fuse and the spare. It's going to be a few minutes longer."

=Cmdr Djo=
*If Djo hadn't already gone nearly bald, that probably would have made him tear a good chunk of his hair out. This was going from bad to worse. The perfect storm scenario that the Queen Mother, and even Admiral Gates, had refused to consider, had just developed. Fortunately, he did have one tool at his disposal.*

"Well, let me send out the distress beacon if that's all we have...."

*Reaching for the controls for the Consortium's Cluster-wide alert system, he turned a key, then pressed his thumb against the authentication pad. Finally, he pressed a large red button down, and locked it in the down position.* *That would broadcast a mayday alert to the rest of the Consortium, and, he hoped, someone out there would forward it on to the Galactic Coalition. If not, the Hapans were going to be dead by the time anyone noticed.*

Re: Fountain Palace

*The doors of the underground bunker deep beneath the Fountain Palace swung open, and a charming but aged woman with graying hair pushed her way into the room, a small child clutched tightly in her arms. Looking around the room quickly, she spotted Commander Djo and hurried over to him, with an air of dignity and command.* *The middle-aged woman with the faint gold circlet was Queen Mother Sara McEvedy, and her young ward was her four-year-old granddaughter, Emilie Ka, who with the death of her mother and the disappearance of her aunt, was the presumptive heir to the throne.*

=Cmdr. Djo=
*Looking up from his console, Willis was slightly surprised, but the Naval officer bowed deeply.* "My Lady!"

=Queen Mother McEvedy=
"Commander, you have always served me faithfully, and I know I can trust you. Now, I need your help, and your promise." *She laid a firm hand on his shoulder, and a very tired look bled into her strong eyes.*

=Cmdr. Djo=
"Whatever you wish, My Lady, you need only ask." *the second-in-command of the Royal Hapan Military replied.* "I am your servant unto death, despite what any meddling politician may say or think."

=Queen Mother McEvedy=
*Some of the formality bled out of the Queen Mother.* "Willis, there is something I must do, if our people are to survive without great bloodshed. The Galactic Coalition might be able to save this system, but there would be massive bloodshed before that was accomplished. We are too remote to rely on them any longer. I must take steps to restore the Hapes Consortium, and free us from our political ineptitude. Please promise me you will not try to stop me."

=Cmdr. Djo=
"I would never question your judgment, My Lady." *He look her hand from his shoulder, and kissed it lightly.* "But what is my part in all this?"

=Queen Mother McEvedy=
*Sighing deeply, and giving her young granddaughter a motherly hug, she handed the sleeping toddler to a wide-eyed Djo.* "You must take Emi, Willis. Please. Keep her safe at all costs. If you do not see me again, you will know that she is the heir." *her voice sank to a whisper.* "You are the only one I can trust with this."

=Cmdr. Djo=
*Willis choked down his emotions, and bit his lip.* "Yes, My Lady. She will be safe, I promise you." *He grasped the sleeping toddler firmly, then lowered her to an empty bench nearby, and motioned for one of his staff to find her a more permanent bed in the bunker. Then he turned, and raised an eyebrow at his Queen Mother.* "So...?"

=Queen Mother McEvedy=
"Stay here, and keep doing what you are doing, Willis. I am going to have a word with our attackers. If I succeed, then this war and our political problems will be over. If I fail, well, you know what to do. Hide, and wait. This Cluster can never be conquered without the will of the Lorell people. Goodbye." *She stood on her tiptoes to kiss Djo's cheek, then turned and swept elegantly from the room.*

=Cmdr. Djo=
*The bunker commander bowed deeply, unable to speak.*

Re: Fountain Palace

*After leaving her heir with the fiercely loyal Commander, Sara made her way to the central control center for the city's power generators, and at her request, all available discretionary power was redirected from holosets and ovens and sewing machines and reading lights and a thousand other non-essential household applications, and diverted to the main interplanetary communications center used by Hapan Royals to communicate among the planets of the Cluster. At maximum power, the Queen Mother hoped to be able to use this transmitter to punch through the NOE jamming and plead her case to these violent attackers.*

Re: Fountain Palace

*Having completed the discussion with the NOE Kommandant, and, to her surprise, achieved exactly what she had hoped to achieve, Queen Mother McEvedy made her way back above ground, her comlink pressed to her ear as she made call after call, summoning various political and military leaders to a meeting in the Fountain Palace's main hall. In addition to the entire upper echelon of the (very corrupt and bureaucratic) political system, she recalled Admiral Gates from overseeing the space defenses, and several top businessmen. She was careful to include all those who had weighted down and destroyed the Hapan's ability to self-govern, and to avoid including some of her loyal supporters. If this was to be a massacre, there would be a few good men, like Commander Djo, left behind. Finally, tow hours later, all was in order and ready. She notified the Kommandant, then began to speak.*

*Main Hall, Fountain Palace, The Royal City of Ta'a Chume'Dan*

=Queen Mother McEvedy=
{ Transmission to Kommandant Sentris at the spaceport }

"My friends, we have summoned you here today to discuss the fate of our people. It is clear that we would not last long if we were to continue open war. The Galactic Coalition cannot help us. The Phoenix Imperium cannot help us. We are isolated, and we are dysfunctional. We have exactly one option. We must agree to work with these invaders for a time. I will not allow our people to be massacred in a battle we cannot win. I am prepared to trade my life, if necessary, to ensure that this war does not continue. I do not give up our freedom lightly, but I will not condemn my people to a war without end."

*She stopped and looked sharply at Admiral Gates and a few other officials.*

"We all know why our government is unable to govern. Those of you who were responsible should think carefully about how you will explain yourselves to the New Order of the Eye's representatives. They will be overhauling our government, whether we like it or not. I would not want to be in your shoes, Admiral Gates."

*The Admiral was about to object violently, but then the NOE delegation arrived, and he hastily painted a smile on his face.*

*Cameras in Commander Djo's command center would capture the entire meeting, so there had been no need to notify him directly.*

Re: Fountain Palace

*By the time that Sentris had received the commlink that the meeting had been assembled. He was already at the Fountain Palace's doorstep. Coming in, flanked on each side be two NSA Commandos, he proceeded to walk over towards the Queen Mother, passing directly past Gates and his pasted-on pathetic excuse for a smile. Upon reaching her he stood at her right side. Clearing his throat he began to address the council that had been gathered.*

=Kommandant Sentris=
"Ladies, gentlemen...No doubt the Queen Mother has graciously informed you what has transpired above this jewel of a world. She has no doubt informed you of our agreement and treaty, I only ask for your cooperation in this change of government, it will speed things along considerably."

*Sentris began to walk around the hall, looking into the eyes of everyone who had gathered together.*

"First and foremost, the Order of the Eye is a militant government. We viciously protect our own, and we often seek to expand our borders through whatever means we must. Every world of the NOE is expected to pay taxes in order to maintain our ability to patrol and protect the dozens of worlds that fall under our jurisdiction. This tax will be collected every year.
Second, the Order of the Eye is a religious Oligarchy...I understand that many, if not all the Hapan people have a severe mistrust of those who are able to access the powers of the Force. I am here to tell you that my commander, the High Lord Mortale is not one such as you have ever seen before. He commands not the powers to access the force, but rather...he commands the power to bend the strength of Bogan to his will. He will not be like those who you have come to hate. You will learn to respect him, some of you may even become eager to serve him. This brings me to my next point.
Third, it is required...that when a young man or woman becomes of age, that he serves no less than two standard years in the service of the NOE Military. Now, before you become concerned: I have arranged that none of your sons or daughters shall ever have to leave this world, they will simply serve in the planetary defense force. A home-guardian force if you will.
Fourth, the Order of the Eye will have a definite presence here. We will not abandon you to your own devices and doom like your former protectorates have. The Order protects its citizens with righteous fury. In return we ask only that you follow our laws and the ways we have found to be successful in running a flourishing society, economy, and government."

*The NSA Commandos at this time had activated their suit's ability to somewhat engage in an active camouflage. Disappearing from sight, but it was subtle enough to not attract attention as Sentris was commanding the attention of everyone in the room as he walked back to the queen's side.*

"There is one last order of business, but I wish to speak with the Queen Mother first. Please remain here, her Majesty and I will retire to the outer hall."

Re: Fountain Palace

*Even as the Queen Mother and Sentris left the room, already the NSA Commandos were painting their targets. One by one they slipped a small explosive into a pocket here, a handbag there, until all those whom the Queen had designated as usurpers had been targeted.

Meanwhile, out in the hall. The Komandant was instructing the queen in matters of how to deal with what was about to happen.*

=Kommandant Sentris=
"You must not allow the media to publicize the mass disappearances. My men will be on station to remove any witnesses. Then, after the primary targets are dealt with, the secondary targets will be removed, the families of all these politicians and military brass will have gone missing by the end of tonight. You will announce the change of leadership in two days time."

*Together, the Queen Mother and Sentris returned to the council chamber.*

"Ladies and gentlemen, in two days time. The queen will announce this change of hands to the populace at large. I ask that you do not speak of this to anyone until after that day. It will aid a smooth transition. Go home, and do not worry about anything political until two days hence. I myself must leave this world and return to the Death's Eye, but I will live with you a man who will act as the NOE representative until such a time where myself or another will relieve him of duty. Thank you, this council is adjourned."

*With murmurs of surprise at the short-lived council session the politicians all got up and slowly milled out the door. Little did they know that in precisely 30 standard minutes, the charges which had been planted on them would go off, killing them all in a freak tragedy that would never be revealed to the public.*

Re: Fountain Palace

=Queen Mother McEvedy=
"It will be done, Kommandant."

*The Queen Mother's face was an unreadable maze of emotions. Fear, guilt, joy, excitement, hope, dread. She had not been prepared to take things quite this far, and she had quite possibly erred by allowing state murder. The Galactic Coalition would never take her back now. But at the same time, her military days from a younger era came back to her. Mutiny. What these politicians had been doing was equivalent to mutiny. And she had been part of a firing squad that had executed mutineers once. This was no different. She might not like it, but in the end, there would be far less bloodshed, and a much more optimistic future for the Hapans. As it now stood, her people were helpless, starving, and ready to fall. If she played her cards right, the En-Oh-Eee would rebuild them at a fraction of the true cost, and someday, would snatch its independence again. She new it would not be in her lifetime, even if these Imperials let her live, but somehow she no longer cared. She nodded cordially to the Kommandant, and they turned to re-enter the room. Suddenly she felt very old.*

Re: Fountain Palace

*The rebellion spread like wildfire, with no central leadership nore will remaining among the former NOE forces to oppose the takeover. Kommandant Sentris was nowhere to be found, and his chief lieutenants hastily found excuses to disappear or to leave the Hapes Cluster entirely. To the sorrow of the patriotic Hapans, no trace nor remains of the former Queen Mother could be found (how neat must the execution have been?) but they were free once more, and they remembered now, what it was like to be a self-governing and self-determining people. The yoke of Imperialism was thrown off. Thousands of foreign troops surrendered, while thousands more of native Hapan conscripts flocked to Commander Willis Djo's banner. Were it not for his words of caution, and his insistence that they do things the democratic way and the historic, traditional Hapan way, they might have made him king that very week.*
