Re: Galantos Stronghold

One eyebrow arched, but that was her only response to his rather, unkempt condition at the moment. She had long been used to things of that sort. On board ship it happened fairly routinely, after all, on a ship space is of primary concern. When she spoke, her tone gave a hint of her amusement. The way he said he would be a fool if he turned down a chance of eating with her, caused her eyes to narrow in suspicion. Then she ignored it and merely carried on.

"As you can see, Selaya is doing very well...though I believe her presence frightened the Corellian diplomat who recently visited."

She stepped out the door with him and walked down the hall towards the Stronghold's cantina.

"I'm not sure if you've ever visited our cantina... there are several good ones in Gal'fian'deprisi proper."

*he laughs again as he walks beside her.*

that is good, she is a predator after all, and anything that can get rid of politicians is a good thing. no, i have not been to the cantina here; i might have to sample the various wines and buy a bottle or two for my cooking gear.

Re: Galantos Stronghold

"I see you are still a cooking enthusiast. How oddly incongruous."

While she could cook after a fasion, normally it was not necessary for her to do so. However, as all the others had been, she had been taught basic survival.

"She is a predator...in many ways so am I. I do not think this place suits her."

"Or me" she added silently in her own thoughts. For awhile now a plan had been formulating in her mind. One that would bring many changes, but one that would set her free. Her and Selaya both. She smiled while contemplating it, but as yet, her plan was still in the early stages of being worked out in her head. She looked down fondly at the vornskyr silently padding along beside her with feline grace. Its head easily reached her waist, but then Jade had never been what one might consider tall. Her delicate frame was barely over five feet tall.

"When visiting a new world, the local cantina is usually my first stopping place. There, one can listen to the local gossip, pick up the news, and figure out something of the planet itself and what life is like there."

*he nods*

usually when i am on a planet it is because i have business there, which means i either don't have time to relax, or i already know where i want to be. but not so today, and a cantina will be as good as anywhere else.

Re: Galantos Stronghold

"Hmm... well perhaps you'd rather visit the one of the normal cantinas then?"

She paused then, Selaya freezing at almost the exact same instant, as if the two of them were operating on the same mental wavelength. She was curious what the Admiral's choice would be. For herself she was thinking more perhaps of a public cantina.

"Well in that case... the city."

She briefly informed Al'lara in passing that they were going into the city. Once at the outer wall of the Stronghold, the two of them used the public transportation system, followed by Selaya, to reach the city proper and from there continued on foot.

"Left at the corner and then you will see it."

Re: Galantos Stronghold

After Jade returned to the Stronghold, quiet organized activity became more pronounced. Only Al'lara knew what was going to happen, but Jade's staff knew that something was about to change. She walked silently through the rooms of the old building... in the main banquet hall the large mural of a predatory raptor holding two gemlike worlds in its grasp was still destroyed. She remembered the Sith attack that had discovered a few of the nasty booby traps set up in this place. It was always interesting to feign compliance and then watch the reaction of the 'prey' as they became the 'hunted.'

The slim woman smiled to herself, the warlike gleam returning to her eyes. Yes, she had been here far too long... in a position she did not like. It was time to change that. She walked up to her room and looked at her old datapad...across the screen in flashing letters it reminded her that today was the opening of the Fian Senate that she had called for. The planet was in a prosperous economic state...and the people were highly educated. She thought it was time they could begin to do some things for themselves.

She called Al'lara, and welcomed her into her room when a quiet knock sounded on the door. Her faithful lieutenant stood there, after saluting in the old fashion. Jade thought back, remembering how Al'lara and her twin sister had joined her... it had been years since then and much had happened. Notably, Al'lara was still alive... her sister was not. The lightsaber she carried was still concealed, instead a blaster on her hip was the open weapon that others could see.

"Today I address the Senate... you know what will happen then Al'lara. You've been trained for this. I will keep in contact with you as I can. But I have every confidence in your ability to further the work in progress on this planet."

Jade had been speaking over her shoulder as she packed a couple things together. Then she turned to look at her subordinate.

"You've proven your ability."

She smiled. Jade knew that Al'lara wouldn't actually speak until necessary due to the strict discipline that had been maintained and the hierarchy of authority. Once she was ready, both of them left the room, walking to a specific location. Jade bowed, and then picked up the long sword that had rested in an empty chair almost since she had arrived on planet. Then, she spoke again.

"Have our speeders ready in five minutes. I'll see you then."

They both turned and carried on. Jade slipped the sword over her shoulder, smiling as the comforting strap was once again in its accustomed place. She suddenly realized just how long her life on this planet had been. For the last time, she picked up her small bag...she didn't have many personal possessions...and proceeded to the entrance to the Stronghold. She glanced back once, saluted the guard. And nodding to Al'lara, they both mounted their speeders, and followed by a small honour guard, proceeded to the main Senate Hall in Gal'fian'deprisi, the capital city of Galantos.

Re: Galantos Stronghold

A staff member passed through the quiet halls of the Stronghold, marveling how even though so much could stay the same on the surface, yet beneath that...everything was different. She had been in service up here almost since the building of the fortress. Truthfully it wasn't many years ago that that had happened. But considering the events on this planet in the past five years and the habitual cycle of gel-quakes, she was a little surprised at the solidity of the structure. It was cool inside...even though mid-day.

She straightened slowly, rubbing her aching back a bit gingerly. Her daughter was always telling her to take a break from scrubbing floors and stand up and walk about to let her muscles relax, perhaps she should listen more. She'd go out and take a constitutional. It had been awhile since she'd walked through the city.

With that in view, she slipped out of the stronghold after delegating a few chores to younger staff members, and hopping aboard a passing transport. It dropped her off in the city where she mingled with the busy people moving about the place.

Re: Galantos Stronghold

Finally a bustle of activity flared up in the great banqueting hall. It looked different though, the once great tapestry of a bird of prey having been partially destroyed in a Sith invasion. The staff wasn't sure if Jade herself would return to eat, but they knew that someone would. So, without more knowledge than the wish not to be caught unprepared, a light repast was set out with the promise of more substantial food later if it should be called for.
