Re: Governors Building

=Sir Kreeg von Jargis=
*Shaking Sharak's hand firmly, he bowed his head slightly over it as he said his words.* I will be sure to, Prime Minister. *Taking his own hand back, Kreeg withdrew a datachip from a different pouch on his belt and handed it to the prime minister.* Since we currently dont have the Diplomatic Corps functioning, you will be allowed to contact High Moff Fel directly until either we can send an ambassador from the Corps, or the High Moff is named Emperor, the former being more likely to occur sooner then the latter. * Kreeg collected his helmet and vibroblade and stood before the door and faced the Prime Minister again.* Strength be to thee and your Government. *Bowing one more time respectively, Kreeg turned and followed the guards out of the Government Building.*

Re: Governors Building

*Sharak gave a hiss of relief as the Knight left. He folded his scaly arms and looked out into the great city. They had yet made another ally to help them in any time of need. On top of that, both sides gained a starting gift out of it. Yes, it will be great indeed. He turned to Skahbor who he knew was about to say something.*

=Skahbor=
Sharak, Keriaz will be jealous. You stole a diplomatic opportunity for her.

*Sharak smiled at his joking gesture. *

Oh I don't think so. She'll have many opportunities.

*Skahbor nodded and stood beside him looking at where the construction of the shield generator was. It had made a lot of progress, but they were still far from being done.*

Well, you handled it very well Sharak. I am glad to have seen you grown through all of this hardship. We literally had to start with nothing. Now, we are slowly getting ourselves organized and growing in power. Keep our friends close and your cabinet even closer.

*Sharak grasped Skahbor's shoulder in a friendly manner.*

Yes, I agree.

*It was then that a message was received from orbit. Sharak took a good look at the message and laughed.*

Well, it seems Fel did his part quiet speedily. Jaraz should be in for a bit of a surprise. Oh if you could collect some data on the Microbe armor tech and send it to Fel. Then you may continue your shield generator project.

=Skahbor=
Of course. I will let you be Prime Minister.

*Skahbor went to do his duty while Sharak sent the new information to Jaraz. It was a good day indeed.*

Re: Governors Building

*Sharak sat at his desk watching Shek move about slowly. It had been a long day addressing some personal problems among the citizens. Mainly it had to do with the small amount of defenses on the planet. Sharak knew this already and he was doing his best to push this aspect hard. Shek could tell of his master's tired state and stress level. He tried to be a bit entertaining, but Sharak didn't seem to catch on. His eyes were becoming heavy as little sleep had allowed itself over the past few days. He shook his weary head and spoke to Shek*

I am sorry, my friend, but I am very tired and not in the greatest of moods. What else am I to do?

*Shek cocked his small head as if thinking. The little yslamiri sat back on his haunches and blinked a few time. Suddenly, he pointed toward the sky with a flimsy claw. Then he pointed down at the desk. *

*Sharak had to think for a moment. Obviously the creature was telling him something, but in his tired state it was more difficult. He tried applying the motions and positions in his mind of various situations. As much as he tried, he couldn't figure it out. *

*Shek started to become more elaborate once he noticed Sharak was still wasn't getting it. He started to use objects designating them as something in the air and something on the ground. At one point he made the object in the air have a threatening attribute, but the object on the ground made it go away after a while. *

*Sharak finally made the connection. The object on the ground was Barab and the object in the air was a ship or fleet threatening the homeworld. His look was a bit questioned at first, for they had a small fleet and a Golan platform. Plus, they were almost done with a shield generator. There was that one prospect of the fleet defenses failing though... Sharak decided that they needed an ion cannon built somewhere... but not at Alater-ka not yet anyways. He decided to place it at the Mount Ste'vshuulsz Military Base. It needed to be given some important tasks and the mining operations could use a better home base. Before he sent the message he patted Shek on the head promising to give him a bit of a treat later.*

:: This is Prime Minister Sharak Iskar. Those on Mount Ste'vshuulsz Military Base need to have an ion cannon up and running for the ever increasing defenses of Barab I. Start working on it immediately. I would like to also have the mining home base located at this Base to increase efficiency and production along with some research. Keep me updated daily on any progress. Sharak out. ::

*Once he sent the message, Sharak picked up Shek and stroked his back.*

Well, friend, I thank you. Now, let us get some well deserved rest.

*Sharak took Shek up to his quarters and they both fell asleep quickly.*

Re: Governors Building

*Sharak walked into his office being somewhat tempered. Some tribe leaders were giving him stress on the new mining routes. They understood the importance of such operations, but they would rather do that somewhere else. Sadly, a heated debate had come out of something simple. The Barabel sat down in his chair and gripped a round object. After letting it sit in his claws for a bit, he crushed it suddenly relieving the stress. It cracked and broke under his grip. He was not the least happy for their accusations when it was something so simple. He would have to appease them somehow, for they were a voice of this government and he had to listen to them. Giving a hiss, he set off to find Skahbor for advice.*

Re: Governors Building

*Sharak had taken a break from his writing and looked out into Alater-Ka. Down below, he saw his people gathered to watch the activation of the shield generator. It had taken some time for the workers to construct this elaborate building, but with their hard work, the city was much safer than before. As it was activated, he gave a sigh of relief. Not only was this an improvement for the city, but it made the populace themselves feel protected. He saw how as they celebrated as the generator was activated. It brought him to a smile seeing such a spectacular sight. As he stood there silently, his sixth sense told him of someone familiar approaching. He did not move but simply nodded as Skahbor stood beside him when he entered the room. They both stood in silence for a while watching the spectacle below. Skahbor was the one to make talk. *

They are happy Sharak...

*Sharak hissed in slight anger.*

Yes, but the clan leaders are not...

*Skahbor gave a hissed laugh and just patted Sharak on the back.*

Well, let me help you with them and we shall get this sorted out.

*It was then that the two sat down and started discussing the problems that the clan leaders had brought up.*

Re: Governors Building

*Sharak and Skahbor continued to discuss the problems that they were facing with the clan leaders. They wrote out various responses which some were discarded and others thought to have the right idea. They would then take the good ones and try to revision or add anything that may have been missing. Many hours later they had finally reached to many agreements on what they wanted to prove upon. Sharak buried his face into his hands and gave a loud hiss.*

If this does not persuade them, they are truly thick headed skulos!

*Skahbor just laughed*

Well, hopefully that won't be the case. Let's invite them here and feed them so that they will be in high spirits. Then the discussion can proceed afterward.

*Sharak nodded and gave the orders for his assistants to prepare meals for the clan leaders who had these issues. He somewhat dreaded this, but it needed to be done.*

Re: Governors Building

*A few hours later, a meal was prepared with meat, fruits, nuts and a slightly soured wine. The meat was divided into cooked, sliced, and the a favorite Mimn'yet which was served raw and bleeding. The fruits were picked recently and were used for both the wine and for a side. The nuts were imported from Felucia as Sharak saw that this could be implemented into the meal... It would definitely be something new as very few vegetables ever grow on Barab. They were both being served raw and roasted. The guests would be seated at a large round table and soft cushions would be placed in a manner so that the guests could lay out, for Barabels preferred not to sit due to their tails. Sharak awaited at the front entrance of the building awaiting for the arrival of the clan leaders. Skahbor was standing right there beside him where he would show specifically where each guest would sit as they came. Sharak still grumbled that he had to go through this.*

Why are they not here yet? I want to get this nonsense done and over with!

*Skahbor put a reassuring hand on Sharak's shoulder.*

Easy... Have patience! This must be done whether you like it or not. Just remember that you are their leader and if trouble arises you have to take care of the situation.

*Sharak just gave a hiss as his eyes looked off to the distance. There he saw the first group of guests coming in walking in proudly among the streets.*

Yes... Still... It would have been easier to have left the mining situation alone. But you are right Skahbor... This must be done.

*And so group after group came as Sharak greeted each and every clan leader. Skahbor showed each one and their members to their designated areas around the table. It would still take some time for everyone to show up, but Skahbor was patient... unlike Sharak who still wished for this "torture" to be over.*

Re: Governors Building

*The feast had been going very well. All of the involved Clan leaders had arrived before the feast started. Skahbor hoped that with this they would be more relaxed and more inclined to listen... It also would stifle the Barabel's temper longer that is persistent in all Barabels. The ones that came with the leaders ate with them as many were advisers or elders that assisted each leader. Sharak and Skahbor ate somewhat silently knowing that they would be talking very soon; however, they did converse with a few others that were nearby. Sharak had a certain level of respect here even though the clan leaders were the ones who were demanding a change. Whenever the Prime Minister was ready, they would be silent... or at least hear his proposition.

Interesting enough, most of the clan members were female. In a Barabel society, they could be just as fierce as the males... possibly even more fierce in some cases. Sharak eyed each and every one of them wondering what they could be thinking. He had prepared himself in making sure who was who and what their style of leadership was for each clan they lead. Some used more violent methods while others had calm and clean methods to deal with situations and governing their group of people.

After a little while, Skahbor put a hand upon Sharak's shoulder and gave a nod... It was time. Sharak looked about once more before giving a soft hiss indicating that he wish to speak about what everyone had been called here for. Once everyone was settled and silence hung in the air, Sharak stood up and took in a light breath. Then he started to speak...*

Re: Governors Building

No! Do you not understand that we need this mine operating?

*The debate had been going on for sometime now. The Clan leaders were being as stubborn as ever and Skahbor did his best keeping a physical peace about the room. Already a few had gotten a bit physical against the table sending cracks from the hard smashes against its surface. Sharak had tried and tried to show them how important the ore was. It was used for economic reasons, scientific reasons, and military reasons. YET! They continued to make terrible excuses. Suddenly, Sharak called for a break and he stormed away to a back room to steam with Skahbor following closely behind. When the door had shut, Sharak just let loose.*

Alright! I've had enough of this! We are calling Jaraz!

*Skahbor gave a low hiss.*

I figured we would have to resort to this... It seems it is the only way.

*Sharak let out a great breath and turned to face him.*

Its the only way THEY will understand. You think that they would have the same amount of faith in me as they have respect... Send the message to the city of our... demonstration... I do not want a civil panic during the celebration of the new year.

*Skahbor nodded and went to carry out the order. Meanwhile Sharak looked down at the ground knowing that this would shake some... But in a way, this was truly what Barabels do. To get a point across you sometimes just have to give a little... physical contact... like... a claw to the face.*

Re: Governors Building

*Sharak walked back into the silent room. All eyes were upon him as he clasped his hands behind his back and his figure became daunting. He had enough of this silly trifle and even though this decision may be rash and have consequences, he had to do this. Skahbor followed closely behind and Sharak gave him a nod. With a deep breath, he spoke to them all with a powerful and commanding voice.*

Kindred, we are getting no where with an agreement. I am getting sick of it... Really. I believe there is only one way you will realize the importance of this ore...

*Sharak activated a hologram that centered on the room. It was Jaraz who was stationed on the Golan Platform in orbit.*

Jaraz, fire on Alater-ka...Now...

*Jaraz simply gave a nod and smiled. He knew what Sharak was doing and he loved it when he saw the other tribal leaders suddenly go into a panic. They started yelling and screaming thinking that Sharak had gone insane. Some were now even begging to be quickly spared while others made a move toward Sharak. His elite guard kept those violent ones at bay. The large turbolasers shot from the Golan platform and streaked down through the atmosphere. Back underneath the ground, the area shook slightly again and again. Most of the leaders thought they were about to be blown to bits...

But it didn't happen...

Sharak nodded to Jaraz by which the hologram disappeared and the firing ceased. Sharak then allowed everyone in the room to be calm before speaking in a powerful and loud tone.*

You want to know WHY you didn't die just now? Because of the shield generator that we had just built! Everything that powers our guns and shielding is channeled through our ore! If we do not mine those deposits, our offense and defense would be greatly reduced!

*Sharak took a moment to calm himself before speaking once more.*

Now... what do you say about your pitiful excuses now?...

*The Clan leaders gathered and started to speak in hushed tones and hisses... but their eyes already showed that the point had been made and Sharak had won....*

Re: Governors Building

*It took some time, but the Clan leaders hands down accepted Sharak's defense. Their argument was not sound and they admitted to that. A few smiled proudly seeing that Sharak was turning into a fearless leader who can and would take desperate measures if need be. Some were not so... They whispered among themselves as if planning something or making comments behind Sharak's back. For Sharak, he had won. That is what he cared about, and his city and weapons would benefit from the mining operation. The consquences were small as the populace hardly knew that it was happening. The celebration had been going on and there was already plenty on noise and vibrations. While the shock of the blasts hitting the shield did add to what was there, they hardly noticed it.

A few hours later, Sharak was with Skahbor upon the balcony of the building. The Clan members had left almost one by one. Some talked to Sharak while others gave him a cold shoulder. A few of the females were greatly interested in meeting him again as he had shown much strength in his decision. For now, Sharak waved them away politely knowing that now was not the time for such things. He lowered his head and gave a hiss.*

What do you think those were whispering about? Revolts?

*Skahbor shook his head...*

I highly doubt that... If they were going to overthrow you, they would have to have a lot of support from multiple tribes and the populace. Whatever consequences that come out of this will be mainly from the non-Barabel populace. I would expect complaints coming in soon once they figure out what had happened.

*Sharak shook his head and spoke in a heated tone...*

THOSE will just have to accept what I have done... BAH! I need a drink... Care to join me?

*Skahbor shook his head.*

No, I think I've had enough already... I need to take care of some personal business anyways.

*Sharak just nodded and started to walk away.*

Well, knowing you it is something productive.. I wish you a blessing..

*With that, Sharak left Skahbor alone upon the balcony... Sharak wasn't a heavy drinker, but he had such a splitting headache that he just need to knock out. Skahbor watched him go and then turned his gaze back upon the city which had died down from the celebration. With a soft hiss, he turned about and prepared himself for his... personal business.*

Re: Governors Building

*Sharak had a long night... of sleeping. He had drunk of a silvery liquid that it had knocked him out cold. The next day, he actually felt quiet rejuvenated to take on the next step. Skahbor had not returned, but Sharak did not need him at the moment. The Barabel had looked at their next mission before and knew that it would need to be executed soon. He would send Keriaz to Mon Calamari to negotiate to build ships. The Fleet was still very small and needed some well strongly built cruisers for a few frigates and corvettes would not be able to pull much... despite Jaraz's utmost confidence to say otherwise. Opening up a channel in his office, he spoke to Jaraz who relayed all communications traffic going in and out of the planet.*

:: Jaraz, get me through to Felucia. It is about time we get Keriaz back home. She has work that needs to be done. ::

*Jaraz replied back with a bored voice...*

:: Yes... Of course.... ::

*Sharak knew that Jaraz's position wasn't a very lively one... But sooner or later the Barabel would have his share of action. Jaraz patched him through to Felucia and Sharak awaited for Keriaz to appear.*

Re: Governors Building

Sharak Iskar wrote:*Keriaz quickly entered into her dorm with the assistant in tow. The other two were already preparing the room for Keriaz for the conference. The two guards stood silently outside making sure no one would disturb them. The Barabel Minster looked at herself to make sure she was quite presentable. Once she was satisfied, she nodded at one of the assistants who opened up the comm channel. Before her suddenly appeared a green hologram of Prime Minister Sharak Iskar. In respect she bowed and spoke with a respectful voice and with their own Barabel tongue. *

:: Prime Minister Sharak. I hope you are well. ::

*She paused for a moment clearing her throat.*

:: What is it that you need Prime Minister? ::

*She could not help that very soon she would be leaving Felucia and its beauty. She had truly grown to like its pleasant surroundings, but she knew that she had to press forward. Her people needed her to do so, and whatever assignment she would have next would be filled with honor. *

*Sharak did not have to wait for long for a reply to return. In the middle of the room the green hologram of Keriaz displayed brightly. Her scales told that there was decent lighting in her room and her dress was proper. She bowed low in respect which Sharak bowed in return with a smile. At her question, he gave a nod and replied.*

Yes, I am doing very well Keriaz. Much better than the past few days;however, that is an entirely different story in itself.

*His reptilian eyes moved about remembering that crazy dilemma and all its clutter that he had to swim through. Thankfully, it had ended much more peacefully than they had expected... or so it would seem to his own knowledge. Sharak walked over to a console and pressed a few buttons bringing up a few schematics for two ships and a planet arose between the two of them.*

:: This is your next assignment. Mon Calamari. Not exactly a diplomatic mission exactly, but we need to expand the fleet. Skahbor and I have discussed which ones we want. We will need one MC90 and three MC40a's. You can see the schematics for each on your hologram. They will increase the amount of actual heavy firepower along with their shielding and armor. The shipyards do very well building these ships and they are very reliable according to the intergalactic database. Jaraz will be training crews for them in the coming days to prepare for the ships. What you need to do is establish diplomatic relations, or more so a start, and then prepare for the transaction. We will take funds out of out account and use them to buy the needed ships. ::
*Sharak stopped for a moment and looked at Keriaz and placed his scaly hands behind his back. This would be important tactically rather than diplomatically. The fleet was small and needed heavier ships of the line. By no means in the scale of a huge Star Destroyer, but something to fend off a raid or moderate attacking force. Then there was the prospect of assisting their allies. Currently, they do not have much to offer besides some resources. The ground forces currently were solely for defense and the fleet was very small and would not be able to stand alone. With a hiss he pressed that argument.*

:: I cannot help but stress that this is important more in a tactical manner than in the diplomatic terms. Currently, it would be positive to make ties with Mon Calamari but that should not be your first priority. Do you have any questions, Keriaz? ::

Re: Governors Building

*Keriaz watched the various objects appeared while Sharak spoke. She took in every detail and every word seriously and put it to memory. The assistants were writing it down, but Keriaz always tried to keep herself organized within her mind. Sharak continued to discussed how this was more the fleet than diplomacy. It was interesting to note that Sharak wanted allies, yet he did not consider Mon Calamari. While it would be a secondary objective, Keriaz would do everything in her power to carry it out. As the screen went back to Sharak, he stressed once more the importance of the mission. She understood this as the fleet was very weak and needed heavier ships. With a slight nod she replied.*

:: Of course, Sharak. I will do that as such. The fleet must be strengthened. The relations on Felucia are strong, I add; however, I do believe a visit here would prove to be a bit vital. Do you agree? ::

*Of course this doesn't happen immediately. They would have to find the time and schedule everything. No doubt it may be a few months before they would be able to do such a thing; however, Keriaz hoped that he would agree for future strengthening ties. *

*Keriaz was someone who was always looking for options. That was her job.. Even though the topic was completely upon the Mon Calamari ships, she still thought of their current allies. He remembered back when he had visited Felucia, while short was a very strange on indeed. He had a vision there that didn't seem to come true... But maybe the time wasn't right for such a path and it was merely something for the future. The Jedi Vire seemed so skittish around him... He was very helpful and kind... Sharak remembered that. Giving a nod to Keriaz he replied with a hiss.*

Yes, we will make a visit once we can be available. If they need us sooner, I am sure they will contact us.

*He changed the projection again and showed a Modified Corvette(Assassin-class corvette). It was ID'd as the Doga*

The Doga shall come into orbit and pick you up as I understand Gar has my ship currently. You will then of course proceed to travel to Mon Calamari. That should be all Keriz.

*With a nod to her, he cut the comm and gave out a hiss of relief.. Finally... they were getting somewhere.*

Re: Governors Building

*Gar walked into the office just getting a notice that Gar was requesting an audience with him. Gar had been tasked in attending a meeting with a certain branch of Jedi, but details beyond that were sketchy. Hopefully Gar had done his task well and everything would be the benefit for all. Strangely enough, Keriaz was not here... Usually she was one to be on time and ready to serve in any way possible. Perhaps after this communication he would investigate her whereabouts. Clasping his claws behind his back, he spoke to the now forming image of Gar before him.*

Hello ,Gar, what have you to report?

:: It is the Ageless Jedi, sir. Recently there had been an incident on Felucia by which they had been hunted down by their enemies. A large battle was fought and after much fighting, the Jedi won. The Ageless held a meeting which turned... violent. There was also a change of leadership; though, nothing that we should be concerned about. Ships are being prepped to come to Barab. They seek our protection, our home, and our respect. ::
*Gar gave a bow and awaited Sharak's decision. Sharak knew this would be the best opportunity to serve the Jedi. If there were enemies hunting them down, let them come. Any invader on Barab is PREY! *

I will pass this on to Keriaz once she become available. I will start procedures for food and other necessities. I am sure Haraz can pull some of the troops to start gathering materials for any construction. Will you be staying on Felucia?

:: Yes, I will stay here... For now ::

Very well then. I will give you updates when possible on the situation. Sharak out.

*Sharak started giving orders for many Barabels to start stockpiling for the Jedi that were to come. In the meantime, he would find out the whereabouts of Keriaz who was oddly... missing... or was she?*

Re: Governors Building

*Sharak was playing around with Shek, his pet Ysalamir. Yes, it negated his small connection to the Force, but he did not mind. Today was normal for the Prime Minister. They had taken care of any concerns that had been raised by the populace and were working on dealing with each one individually. He threw a small rubber ball across the room which Shek cheerfully went after. The little creature swatted at the small object rolling around with it. This peace was kept until Keriaz came quickly through the door. Seeing a slight expression of urgency on her face, he went ahead and asked the question.*

What is it, Keriaz? Did they finally catch that rogue mutant mouse?

*She stopped to think, but shook her head at the random suggestion.*

Yez, but that isn't why I am here. A Marshal Yuen wishes to speak with you. Jaraz just sent the message...twice. Yuen, seems to be a Grey Jedi who used to rule Barab in harmory with the Barabels. I will make Skahbor come with us for he will know of Marshal Yuen since both you and I were not here during the Marshal's occupation. It seems also that the Marshel wishes to make Barab a haven for the Grey Jedi.

*Sharak gave a nod getting up from his chair and picking up Shek. Turning to Keriaz, he started to give some orders.*

I want the Hunter's guard to escort us there and back. Make sure Skahbor meets us at the spaceport; you will come also. Obviously, this will be a full diplomatic meeting. Let us make the Jedi feel they are at home.

*Keriaz gave a nod. Her crystal blue eyes already were thinking of everything that needed to be done. She left the office in a hurry with her assistants going with her to prepare for the coming guests. Sharak himself went into his personal room to prepare for the coming Jedi.*

Re: Governors Building

*Keriaz gave a hiss of relief as a message came in that the visitors would arrive within an hour. Now, everything could be set up in an orderly fashion without much rush. They still needed to prepare the meeting room with plenty of chairs and food for the upcoming negotiations. On top of that, Jaraz sent a message that forty thousand Barabels would be seeking their homes back. She left some of her assistants take care of gathering temporary food and shelter until they would be integrated back into their homes. It would take a lot of effort and time, but everyone was cooperating. Her blue dress flowed with her as she ran too and fro giving orders and directing who should be doing what. It was at a point that a familiar green scaled hand clasped her shoulder. Turning around she met eye to eye with the Barabel who was the leader of the united Clans. Skahbor smiled widely and Keriaz embraced him. Stepping out of her office from the noise, Keriaz spoke first.*

All of this is happening so fast. I hope we will have everything ready in time.

*The Elder Barabel gave a nod and placed his clawed hands upon her red scaled shoulder.*

Do not fear, Keriaz. I have contacted the Clans and they will do everything they can to help the returning hunters back to their home. Now, about our returning visitors. The Grey Jedi you speak of is a very respected man. Many of us remember him. He took care of the Barabels after we had suffered from the Vong invasion. If he is requesting a safe haven, he will have it.

*Keriaz gave a nod knowing that this Jedi was very important to Skahbor. No doubt he may have worked with the Grey Jedi before. Her eyes looked back into her office where a few assistants stood ready for new orders. Looking back at Skahbor, she exused herself.*

Excuse me, but I must tend to my little ones. Go ahead on to the spaceport. Sharak and I will meet you there.

*Skahbor nodded and parted ways with Keriaz so that she could take care of her business.*
