*Kaine moved closer to Adieumus. With the handlebar mustache, bald head, and movement toward men, Matango was beginning to question Kaine's real motives...peace, or a date with the Prince of Angels....
Adi, however, didn't swing that way. But if Kaine wanted to think that his little 'pet' was some sort of a practical joke, and that it would give him an upper hand if things got dicey, who was the Prince to shatter his delusions? The Arkanian decided to humor the man, and just deal with the discomfort.
Kaine began speaking of "The Pirates of Ossus", and using them as a distraction. Apparently, he knew little of his potential foes' capabilities. Matango had chosen the Ossus Jedi for their tenacity, their wit, not to mention the fleet they commanded was one of the best-led outside of L'Ange Noire Orbital Command. The Ossus contingent of Jedi and Grays was going to prove a valuable alliance.*
"General Australis, please, call me Adi. I dislike titles. "Prince" is a birthright, and a title I was given in my youth. I am no longer that person. And we are quite aware of the dislike of force users by the Mandalorians as a whole. What I find most confusing is that you have force users among your ranks...curious..." *Reaching into his pocket, Adieumus decided to see if he could 'alleviate' the tension around the table. He pulled out a hand-rolled cigarette, and lit it, inhaling deeply. Exhaling, he took another series of puffs from the fragrant, potent herb, and offered it to Kaine.
The guy was too uptight, and needed to chill a bit...* "Secondly, the Ossus 'pirates', as you have referred to them, are a well-respected member of the lightsided community, regardless of your intel. They are here on a mission to ally themselves with our faction, to make the universe that much more peaceful. If we are successful in our mission, you will have little to worry about." *Sensing something from Jael, a hidden want...perhaps even a slight 'need'...to also have his own share of the Endorian, Adi tossed another of the hand-rolled smokes to him, along with a lighter. It was difficult to even try to talk to the man through the force, but Adi managed a small thought to Jael.* << Enjoy that. It's really good stuff though, so be careful. This little hoo-hah shouldn't take long. >>
*The thought to Jael ended almost as rapidly as it had started. The ysalimir was doing its job well.* "As for being non-aggressive...If you recall, the only animosity between the Angels and Clan Australis are when you were Mandalore, General Australis. We sent an envoy to you, and you ended up with fighters in our orbit. We -still- can't figure out how they exploded. None of our systems show a single LAN weapon being fired.
We are, however, willing to look past such things, if you are willing to as well. It was a misunderstanding that got heated, and got out of control." *Matango looked around the table at the personalities gathered here on this day. It wasn't that long ago that the Arkanian had conducted a peace conference between the Sol Republic, and the New Republic...right after Matango had been given control of Honoghr. At that time, it was a momentous occasion, but very small on the galactic scale of things.
It had also been the start of many great things for L'Ange Noire. Through that peace conference in the tiny room, guests seated around an old, withering table...one of the greatest Angels of all time, Hyperius Bassell, had begun his time among LAN's ranks. Through him, his sister, Sara Nova, had come as well, and on her venerable wings, the Angels grew to what they were today. While the personalities were different, and of much more important caliber than that first meeting, Adieumus couldn't help but wonder where this little roundtable would take the universe.*
"Now, as it is you that has come to -us-, sir, you obviously thought you have something to worry about from LAN. Trust me, if we were going to retaliate for that incident in orbit, it would have already long been over. While I cannot speak for the other Jedi contingents, nor the Ossus Jedi, you have nothing to fear from us. While we do not personally condone mass-hiring of mercenary forces, we also do not frown upon it. So long as our forces are not on opposing sides of a battlefield, nor any of our people are targeted in any attacks, you have no worry of LAN interfering in Clan Australis business. In fact, we would rather stay out of any conflict we can. While we are militarized, we prefer to keep the peace rather than start conflicts. Negotiations are always the preferred method of conflict over blasters."
*Matango leaned on his elbow, looking at Kaine carefully. While he was still cautious of the man, he hoped the words weren't falling on the traditionally deaf ears of the Mandalorians.*
