*Just by his answer, Lynzea could tell that it really didn't mean that much to him to have someone to just talk to. He seemed more the quiet type to her. So, she sat there in silence, not sure of what to say or do. She didn't want to offend her new acquaintance, but she did want to know more about him... She decided to just ask. She had found in the past that it was the best way to get information.*

So where are you from? How did you get here? And what -do- you do here? *All the easy questions first. Base questions so she could figure out if this creature really did want to talk or not...*

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

A few simple questions, for anyone else. But Apollo found himself hesitating to answer.
Where was he supposed to say he was from? Myrkr? Mandalore? Wayland?
Any of those answers would technically have been true.
He knew the answer to the second question; he'd gotten to Honoghr via starship, as most off-worlders had. That answer wasn't too facinating, hardly worth explaining. And he didn't really do anything. This old dog's usefulness in the galaxy - if ever he'd had any - had long ago run out. These times of late, he simply... existed.
For him, that was enough.
He entertained the thought of attempting to explain to her the reason why he was here. But he found himself lacking the appropriate train of thought to form the words. He'd never had to explain himself to anyone before - most sentient beings with whom he'd conversed either knew why he was the way he was, or simply never raised the question.
He simply didn't know how to explain his unique condition, aside from stating outright what it was in blatant demeanor.

<< I was not always a vornskr, >> he started, then paused. He silently wondered how long he should wait for someone to allow that statement to make sense, then he continued, << I came to this world when I became aware of the Red Dawn Medical Facility, and their impressive cloning methods. >>
He knew the statement would open up a rather large can of space worms, but it was definitely an interesting ice-breaker, he thought.
<< I came here to clone my old body. >>

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

*Disbelief flashed across her face, but only for a moment. She had never heard of such a thing before but was not a stranger to the weird and obtuse. This creature had no reason to lie to her and he seemed sincere. Questions flooded her mind, almost bubbling over her gums. She caught herself and paused, concentrating on the most pertinent question of the moment, and realizing that he may not want to divulge his secrets. But, if he was willing to talk, she was more than willing to listen.*

I know this is none of my business, but if you would care to elaborate, you've peaked my interest. I've never met such an interesting being before. *She paused for a moment,* How did you come to be in the body of a Vornskr? Who or what were you before... *She motioned to the beast.* -this?-

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

One of those questions had brought a subtle wince upon the vornskr's eyes, and he took a notably deep breath.
<< That is a very long story. >>
It was a very painful story.
<< Suffice it to say that I was once Echani, >> he started, then paused as if trying to think of what to say next, << but that time has passed. >>
Truly, he had grown content with the fact that he no longer held any significance in the galaxy. there were still those who recognized his Force presence, and addressed him under a name that was no longer his to claim.
<< Now I am just the tired old dog who hangs around these water gardens. >>

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

I am sorry if I caused any unpleasant memories or pain. I had no intention of doing so.
*Noticing the pain in his voice and the way he answered her questions, Lynzea let it go. Her questions would just have to remain hers. There was no point in asking any more painful questions of this poor beast. But she liked him.

Since her appointment as Games Keeper, the Prince had given her private rooms of her own just off of the private gardens. She was enjoying Apollo's companionship so much that she had a crazy idea. She wasn't even sure that he would even consider the idea, but there was no harm in asking...*

Look, I know this may seem strange, but I had a sudden thought. Are you comfortable here in the gardens? The Prince gave me private rooms that open to the private gardens. If you'd like, you are more than welcome to share them with me. I'll have him modify them so that you can come and go as you please. You'll always have food available... and a friend if you'd like..

*Lynzea gave a weak smile. She knew that this was one of the weirdest things she's ever done. There was no logic in it. She had just met the creature and she was offering to care for him, only asking for friendship in return. She silently held her breath as she waited for his answer.*

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

She was right; it certainly did seem like a strange offer.
His mind stuck on one particular point she'd made, though mostly irrelevant to her proposal. The man of importance whom she had mentioned rather off-handedly, but it brought some form of significance in his address, as well as Apollo's mind.
The Prince?
He remembered meeting the Prince of the Grand Dukha once, in a previous life. Decent fellow. Easily upset by the least of offenses, such as infiltration and sabotage. Had a rather odd name, too.
Man Tango?
Mango Wango Tango?
Something like that.
The old vornskr shook his head sharply to clear it of such nonsensical ponderings and reconsidered the girl's offer.
In another life his pride would have gotten the best of him, and he would have opted refusal without a second thought. And while he was still a proud beast, his tempter had significantly cooled with years passed. Truly, he would mentally smile at the idea that he was far less civilized when he was yet a man, than now that he is an animal.

<< You extend a kind proposal, >> he admitted aloud, << I would be a fool to refuse your hospitality. >>

*She thought the beast was going to decline when she saw him shake his head but was surprised when he actually accepted her offer.*

*Lynzea chuckled,*I thought you were going to say no for a minute. Well, then I'll go and get the ball rolling on the renovations to the flat. I'd like your input on what you want in your room and other amenities you'd like in the apartment as well.*she paused, then snickered sheepishly,* I was going to say 'drop me a line' but... How about you come with me to the flat? We could sit down there and work out what you'd like... *Her voice trailed off.*

*Lynzea realized that it was very presumptuous of her to assume that Apollo had nothing better to do than tag along with her, so she offered another alternative,* Or if you have something else to do, I'll give you directions to my flat and let the security know that you are coming. I understand that you probably haven't talked to too many people here and I want you to know that if you come at a later time, you may be required to communicate with others.

*Lynzea wasn't sure how Apollo would take this news of eminent socialization, but she was always a matter-of-fact person and tried to help others understand possible risks involved, no matter how small they may seem.*

<< An unnecessary risk, >> *the vornskr answered, nonchalantly,* << I have no other pressing engagements. >>
*Apollo then attempted another semi-humorous train of thought, but once again shook his had slightly, remembering that this would inevitably need to be a short post, being as how I am on my cell phone, which is also the reason why I am using the *action* code; I cannot seem to get the color scheme this way. But I digress...* << Lead the way. >>

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

*It was as Wyn had said, the heat on Honoghr was something to contend with. By the time he had reached the large public springs, his brow was slick with sweat. The Jedi decided that the potent whiskey he had been sipping at wasn't helping matters. Many a Jedi believed the body to be sacred, something that should not be tainted with a poison like alcohol or smoke but Jael knew better. Sacred or not, the body could be broken and rebuilt. Poison or not, he was getting old and a stiff drink made him feel young again.*

*Sometimes these things were a matter of passing yourself off as something else. When Jael was pursuing a particular Jen'Jidai across the universe, he had often had to smoke and drink, to fit in. The bad habits were the least of his sacrifices for duty. There were evil men in this world and they could tell if you weren't as hard or cruel as they were. Sometime you just had to make due and survive.*

*Making his way to the hot springs, Jael stared at himself in the blue water. His cloak was tattered and torn, his face more weathered than he had remembered it and his eyes were always that piercing blue. He looked away from the waters and checked under his chest plate, no smokes. Kezmet grumbled and decided to take everything in. At first he looked with his eyes, noting the statues, the shrubs and exotic wild life. He could not help but take note of the dozens of people milling around and climbing into the waters. Then Kezmet closed his eyes and folded his arms, calming himself with the force. He waited until his mind was completely focused and then he began to listen, to try and hear the name of the person he was sent to find....*

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

"OH MY GODS, IT'S ADIEUMUS MATANGO!!" *....Was what he would hear when he walked into the Water Gardens in the Grand Dukha on some days. Today, however, the people seemed not to notice him as he lead the group in from the hangar bays. The gardens sheer size still put Adi in awe, even after practically living in them for quite a few years now. This day, the sun shone brightly, and the retractable glass roof was open to the sky, allowing the warm, humid breeze to flow into the expanse of Honoghr jungle brought into the Grand Dukha.

It was here that Matango felt most at peace. Even in its grandeur, there was such simplicity. The birds and animals, treated with such care by the staff, acted as if the beings below and around them weren't even there. In a way, it was a cross-section of all Honoghr had to offer, in one small slice of nirvana.

A beep, and a vibration from his comlink broke the momentary reverie. Let it up to LANsec to interrupt a moment of zen...*

:: Matango here, go ahead. ::
:: Sir, LANsec Command has a VIP in the Main Hall, awaiting direction from you. ::
:: Well, who is it? ::
:: General Kaine Australis, sir. He's here on a diplomatic mission...cleared by you, from what I am to understand. ::
:: Ah, good! I have been expecting him. Please, have his security detail direct him to my location in the Public Water Gardens. ::
:: Five-by-five, sir. Out. ::

*This was becoming quite the little gathering.

Hoping that no one in this little contingent was on bad terms, Adi moved over to a section of the gardens that held a round stone table, and benches surrounding it. There was a tinted sunshield shading the table, and the seats, giving a comfortable place to talk, a little off the main walking paths.*

*Taking a spot on one of the cushioned benches, Adi waved for the others to join him.*

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

*Kaine's guards in the entrance hall had mentioned that the Prince was in the Water Gardens, and so the old soldier used the two feet Kad gave him to trundle his way through the Grand Dukha until he reached the appointed location. He knew very little real details about the leader of Honoghr's military and political sphere. This meeting would, if nothing else, fill in a few blank lines in the dossier. Kaine might even rescind the bounty he'd placed on the man. It was nothing personal, they'd never met directly after all, but taking out heads of state tended to cause confusion and disarray, and that was generally good for those in the shadier kinds of business.*

*The six foot seven Mando from Myrkr in the black and green beskar'gam entered. He took in the surroundings. Expensive. He spotted a seated man waving at something and, deciding that it was probably Adieumus, Kaine headed in that direction. He clambered his way onto one of the stone benches, and after considering it for a moment, reached up and unsealed his buy'ce, lifting it off his head and revealing the shaved head and handlebar moustache.*

*He'd affected the haircut and whiskers for the past few years, a nod to how he'd looked thirty years past, before Australis, before Kiffu, even before his brief service on Onderon. Kaine was nearing fifty, an age most men looked at as definetely over the half-way mark so far as being active in the field. Growing the mo again was a sign he looked on his youth with some envy. Kaine wasn't a vain man by any standards, but he figured he looked a bit young for his age. Helmets kept the sun from aging the skin as much. His blue eyes were the flinty eyes of a General, a man who'd learned long ago to stare down fellow officers, enlisted men, and hardened ori'rami'kade who could kill a gundark using nothing but their hands and teeth if he ordered them to do it.

Those eyes now appraised Prince Adieumus. Kaine didn't need the Force to get a read on a man. He did it the old fashioned way, by watching the face, asking the right questions and giving carefully couched answers. Kaine slipped into the analytical frame of mind whenever he met a head of state for the first time. Men with power, whether weak or strong, aggressive or passive, were important men because of the power they held. Determining the type of man they were told you how they would exercise their power. Right now Kaine wondered if Adieumus was trying to exercise his power on Kaine and discovering it didn't work. No, he corrected himself quickly, the guards would have to have sent word about the Ysalamir. Without preamble, Kaine got on with it.*

*Kaine finished the short appraising look he gave Adi and inclined his head politely.*

Adieumus Matango, I presume.

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

"Adieumus Matango...."

*Jael Kezmet heard the name once from a commlink transmission, then again from a man with a hardened voice. The Shadow opened his piercing blue eyes and allowed himself a minute to adjust. The flowing influx of the force left him for a time and he looked instead with his own eyes. A man with a mess of blonde hair was entering a small alcove with benches and tables. A group of people followed him about like lost dogs. Immediately Jael made the realization that this character was of some import. The man takes a seat, his eyes nearly the same shade as Kezmet's and the force strong with him.*

*Kezmet looks at himself once more in the hot springs and ponders if this man shall live to see an age as high as Kezmet's. No doubt the world had been hard to both of them and would continue to be so. Looking at the man once more, he could not help but think of his son, Kirill, who was lost so long ago. A different time, a different place, different names, different lives. They had been a team, Father, Son and Grandson. The great deeds that awaited them! So little finished and so much pain that followed. Telemekus was the first to go, cut down by his fallen grandson. Then Kirill...*

*He snapped himself out of the past and focused on the present. Seated next to the man with the blonde hair was a Mandolorian of formidable size. His eyes were hard as was his face, a man of war, of battles won and lost. The Mando looked to the other man with a silent interrogation, sizing him up and testing his salt before uttering a single word. Kezmet heard the name again and decided to approach.*

*He tossed his ragged cloak over his right shoulder, revealing his weaponry and armor. He had no intentions of using either but never traveled without them. Walking with purpose, he rose to his full height and looked directly at the men he was approaching. He was giving them respect whilst showing that he was not just some old and feeble man. Kezmet had seen his share of blood, more than enough. His weathered face was a mask of apathy. He remained neutral and calm. Now some five feet from the pair of men, Kezmet stopped in his tracks and spoke.*

"I am Jael Lanaus Kezmet...I seek the man Adieumus Matango...."

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

*Riddick walked in with Jade and Adieumus, detaching and taking his armored flight suit's helmet off as he did. Revealed was a weathered face, commensurate with some forty-five standard years of age, and all the experience that went with it; Tribal tattooing around his left eye, a few old and half faded scars, and a small amount of grey hair among the large amount of brown.

He looked around at the delegates who were there, who came to meet with the LAN; An Arkaninan, a handful of humans, including a Mandalorian, a near-human or two.

Though he hailed from a Force using culture, and such a connection had advantages, when one had chance and reason enough to employ it, Riddick knew that it wasn't always necessary to use it. As it were, the most necessary task at hand was to observe diligently, and respond honestly. The Force wasn't necessary for such straightforward tasks. He read everyone, nonchalantly, as to not draw any more attention than by his simply being there.

He remained silent and phlegmatic, as he waited for business to get started.*

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

*Nodding at each as they sat, Adi looked around the table. The Prince could feel the effects of a ysalimir, his connection to the force wavering a bit....

...Probably General Australis. Who could blame him though. The Mandalorian was in a nest of force users, and he was just trying to keep the field even. It was not unheard of, and was a smart move in Adi's mind. The guy wasn't half bad, albeit a little too sure of himself.

...That handlebar mustache was -so- 45 ABY-....

There was another newcomer, introducing himself, and asking for Adi. Already in a cordial mood, and looked the man in the eyes. There was a softness in Jael's eyes, hidden by years of pain. It was unmistakable, and not unlike his own. This man had seen far more than Matango had, but there was not a drop of darkness around him. Even in the force-compromised state he was in, Adi felt he could trust him, just from his aura.*

"You found him, Mr Kezmet. Have a seat. You may find this interesting." *He waved the man to a seat, and turned his attention to Kaine.* "General Kaine Australis, I would like you to meet Master Jaecyn Riddick, and Jade. They are visiting from Ossus to discuss a possible alliance between our governments. With L'Ange Noire growing so rapidly, we are ready to do our part to keep the galaxy safe. Many have come to seek our guidance and help, especially lately." *Adi grinned, but inside, his body was nearly screaming. The force was seeping from his body, slowly but surely. As much as he was uncomfortable, he was also thankful that no one else seemed to be inside the range of the effects.

He slid over a little bit, feeling himself move outside of the area of influence. GAHDS ysalimari were annoying...*
"So I suppose the next question is posed to you, General. What can we do for you?"

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

*Kezmet merely nodded and took a seat slightly apart from the rest. He did not want to be too close to anyone, it was easy to be attacked that way. Blasters were small and by the looks and feel of those present, saber's could be engaged just as quickly to dispose of an old man. Old habits died hard. He had never really gotten used to living in a time without ever present danger. The Sith and Jen'Jidai he had hunted had lived terrible and wretched lives. Everywhere they went, people seemed to die. To infiltrate a group of men like that, one had to be cautious every second of every day. He did not sense danger amidst the growing party of force users, officials and generals but around the large Mandolorian, there was not only an absence but a void in the force. Kezmet made a silent note to himself and crossed his legs. He would wait to speak when matters concerned him. At present, he was a silent and respectful guest albeit wary and observant.*

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

*Riddick. Kaine knew the name. He'd been on Ossus a few years back, when a Mando scout had been shot down and captured. He'd breached Ossus' defences singlehandedly and waltzed into the prison to get his man to safety. He wondered if they were aware that it had been Kaine himself. Then he put those thoughts aside and focused on Adieumus.*

*Kaine gave Jaecyn and the others the briefest of glances before returning his gaze to Adi's face. He'd noticed Adi sliding away from the Ysalamir's effect, and just as subtly, he shifted position to place Adi once again within the little creature's sphere of influence.*

I'm here to see if we can reach an accomodation, Prince of Honoghr. The Galaxy drifts towards war, and misunderstandings are easily occuring when those in power do not have clear and open lines of communication.

I confess, I hadn't expected to meet the pirates of Ossus at this negotiation. Perhaps you intend them as a distraction?
*Kaine shifted the position of his left arm so that the flamethrower was idly levelled at Jaecyn's face.*

I have no great love for the Jedi, and neither do my people. Nor are we greatly enamoured of the Sith. What we want is to be left alone. We'll work for hire, but we're nobody's underlings. I want your personal guarantee that there will be no interference by LAN or her associates with Mandalorian business.

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

*Kaine moved closer to Adieumus. With the handlebar mustache, bald head, and movement toward men, Matango was beginning to question Kaine's real motives...peace, or a date with the Prince of Angels....

Adi, however, didn't swing that way. But if Kaine wanted to think that his little 'pet' was some sort of a practical joke, and that it would give him an upper hand if things got dicey, who was the Prince to shatter his delusions? The Arkanian decided to humor the man, and just deal with the discomfort.

Kaine began speaking of "The Pirates of Ossus", and using them as a distraction. Apparently, he knew little of his potential foes' capabilities. Matango had chosen the Ossus Jedi for their tenacity, their wit, not to mention the fleet they commanded was one of the best-led outside of L'Ange Noire Orbital Command. The Ossus contingent of Jedi and Grays was going to prove a valuable alliance.*

"General Australis, please, call me Adi. I dislike titles. "Prince" is a birthright, and a title I was given in my youth. I am no longer that person. And we are quite aware of the dislike of force users by the Mandalorians as a whole. What I find most confusing is that you have force users among your ranks...curious..." *Reaching into his pocket, Adieumus decided to see if he could 'alleviate' the tension around the table. He pulled out a hand-rolled cigarette, and lit it, inhaling deeply. Exhaling, he took another series of puffs from the fragrant, potent herb, and offered it to Kaine.

The guy was too uptight, and needed to chill a bit...*
"Secondly, the Ossus 'pirates', as you have referred to them, are a well-respected member of the lightsided community, regardless of your intel. They are here on a mission to ally themselves with our faction, to make the universe that much more peaceful. If we are successful in our mission, you will have little to worry about." *Sensing something from Jael, a hidden want...perhaps even a slight 'need'...to also have his own share of the Endorian, Adi tossed another of the hand-rolled smokes to him, along with a lighter. It was difficult to even try to talk to the man through the force, but Adi managed a small thought to Jael.* << Enjoy that. It's really good stuff though, so be careful. This little hoo-hah shouldn't take long. >>

*The thought to Jael ended almost as rapidly as it had started. The ysalimir was doing its job well.* "As for being non-aggressive...If you recall, the only animosity between the Angels and Clan Australis are when you were Mandalore, General Australis. We sent an envoy to you, and you ended up with fighters in our orbit. We -still- can't figure out how they exploded. None of our systems show a single LAN weapon being fired.

We are, however, willing to look past such things, if you are willing to as well. It was a misunderstanding that got heated, and got out of control."
*Matango looked around the table at the personalities gathered here on this day. It wasn't that long ago that the Arkanian had conducted a peace conference between the Sol Republic, and the New Republic...right after Matango had been given control of Honoghr. At that time, it was a momentous occasion, but very small on the galactic scale of things.

It had also been the start of many great things for L'Ange Noire. Through that peace conference in the tiny room, guests seated around an old, withering table...one of the greatest Angels of all time, Hyperius Bassell, had begun his time among LAN's ranks. Through him, his sister, Sara Nova, had come as well, and on her venerable wings, the Angels grew to what they were today. While the personalities were different, and of much more important caliber than that first meeting, Adieumus couldn't help but wonder where this little roundtable would take the universe.*

"Now, as it is you that has come to -us-, sir, you obviously thought you have something to worry about from LAN. Trust me, if we were going to retaliate for that incident in orbit, it would have already long been over. While I cannot speak for the other Jedi contingents, nor the Ossus Jedi, you have nothing to fear from us. While we do not personally condone mass-hiring of mercenary forces, we also do not frown upon it. So long as our forces are not on opposing sides of a battlefield, nor any of our people are targeted in any attacks, you have no worry of LAN interfering in Clan Australis business. In fact, we would rather stay out of any conflict we can. While we are militarized, we prefer to keep the peace rather than start conflicts. Negotiations are always the preferred method of conflict over blasters."

*Matango leaned on his elbow, looking at Kaine carefully. While he was still cautious of the man, he hoped the words weren't falling on the traditionally deaf ears of the Mandalorians.*

*Shihab, a slate grey stenax standing 7'9" tall, with solid white eyes, and wearing a drab olive green flight suit, with a X-30 pistol tucked into a cargo pocket on his left thigh, though only someone looking for a concealed side arm would notice it; walks out of the trubolifts leading Arcanus Sunstrider and the republic diplomat into the Gardens and towards Adi and the others standing near by.

As he approaches he notices a .... thickness in the air that he hadn't noticed before, though he put it down to the humidity after a moments thought, as he had other things to think about. As he and the two republic representatives arrive at the group already speaking with Adi, Shihab announces their arrival in a deep gravely voice that travels easily.*

Adi, and guests, may I introduce Republic Ambassador Major Gerald J. Anderson and Arcanus Sunstrider. They have come to negotiate an alliance with the L'Ange Noire.

*I motion towards each of the republic representatives as I name them, and then motion for them to take a seat at the table. Moving to stand behind Adi, I look at the assorted group. A Mando and the Ossus Jedi, sit or stand near by. I watch and listen, alert and ready to react as necessary. I stand with my arms at my sides, palms open, wings folded against my back, feet planted firmly beneath me, and knees slightly bent.*

*Jaecyn's expression briefly took a look of humor and disappointment. He was standing reasonably far enough as to not be affected by the Ysalamir, about 5 to six feet out, but still within the few yards distance that was the flame thrower's range.

He fully expected Kaine to position himself into doing something stupid, as Jae's experience with almost every Mandalorian has indicated a lack of substantive "grey matter" driving too much muscle.

Still, he held where he was, with a firm, but neutral expression. He chose the higher ground of not saying anything.*

Re: Grand Dukha Public Water Gardens

*Kaine kept his expression neutral throughout the Prince's diatribe. A few raised eyebrows came at some of the comments, but Kaine didn't visually appear to rise to the obvious bait.*

*He knew he was in a fairly dicey situation here. This could get ugly in a hurry. Resolving to make the best of it without resorting to classic Mandalorian diplomacy, Kaine prepared himself to address the man's words.*

Well, you have some interesting ideas about us Mando'ade. Let me clear up one misconception though. I speak for Mandalore here, not just Clan Australis. *Kaine figured in this situation it was better to seek Malice's forgiveness later for the presumption rather than ask permission.* *As a gesture of goodwill, he reached out and took the herbal cigarette, taking a puff and exhaling slowly.*

Nice. *He passed it to the next man in line.* Have a go at that. *Then he turned back to Adieumus.*

Can we agree then to an amendment of your statement, on record, of course, that you will not interfere in Mandalorian business, nor permit those of your group to do so. I'm sure you'll agree it's a reasonable request. Mando'ade don't make good enemies. Your talk of retaliation for some imagined slight is disturbing.

That being said, this dikut over here detained and imprisoned one of my men. You'll understand if I have reservations about your judgement if you're jumping into bed with him.
*Kaine made a seemingly idle gesture in Jaecyn's direction, making sure that the flamethrower attached to his armour was pointed at the Jedi's midsection.*

Now, we've got no special interest in LAN affairs. Provided you agree not to interfere with us, things will stay that way. A nice easy agreement to understand. Historically, you Jedi have a way of bending things written down on paper to your own purposes when it suits you.
