:: What he said ::

Ashrah continued digging along side Duke. This wasnt going to be easy, but it was needed. They wouldt be able to walk through the shield. That would make too much sense. After about 15 minutes, Ashrah stood, and pulled himself out of the hole, and offered Duke a hand, hauling him out.

He looked at the two men, and they should be able to tell he was grinning like a 12 year old who just found a porn stash, pulled 2 TD's off his belt, thumbed the switch, and dropped them into the hole. He turned and walked a fwe feet away....

:: i suggest moving....Three.....two......one.... ::

*KRAKOW!!!!!!!!!11*

The dull thwump of 2 TD's at once going off could be more felt than heard....And the explosives did their job, digging through the organic material, making the hole big enough for them to get through.....hopefully no one showed up to investigate......i mean, they COULD used the excuse they were tourists....But he doubted anyone would believe him...what with the black beskar'gam and weapons.....

Re: Hpaq

*Fenris nodded once to show he had heard, and then unslung his WESTAR-M5, cradling the blaster rifle in both hands as he turned a slow circle to ensure no one approached, and then settled in to keep watch as the two men dug. In all reality, the soldier was just relieved the two Mandalorians hadn't turned him away. Now that he was on Vulpter's soil, with conflict inevitable, his heart was racing. This was the first actual battle that he had participated in; he'd been in combat many times, but that had been small skirmishes with smugglers and rebels and whatnot. This, he knew, would be something entirely different.

The two Mandalorians worked quickly, and when they were finished the bigger one emerged from the whole clutching two thermal detonators and possessing an almost palpable air of glee about him. Taking the advice, Fenris retreated half a dozen paces and half turned away, tucking his head into his shoulder as the explosion sent a shower of dirt and stone into the air. When he looked back and saw that the scheme had worked, a grin lit the soldier's youthful featurs, though they were hidden by his buy'ce.

One hand on the hilt of his besk'ad, Fenris loped back over to the two men.*

Re: Hpaq

*As the bombardment intensifies the shields drop to a mere eight percent. General Han Cardiff, leader of the Imperial 2nd Army's 1st Legion, gives out new orders in anticipation of the precision strikes to come as soon as the shield drops. Troops begin moving into underground bunkers directly beneath or near their current positions. Underground bunkers are standard practice for most locations across the galaxy in this era seeing as no planet goes untouched by war. Those that can't reach bunkers without straying too far from their positions move into underground parking structures, which should function just as well as a bunker seeing as all parking structures beneath ground are built to withstand most earthquakes.

The vehicles of the legion do the same as the infantry, priority is given to the AT-TE's and the AT-ST/a's. Some move into parking structures that are capable of fitting them while others move into the most fortified buildings possible. Next to seek cover are the Canderous tanks though the number of places where cover is possible are slowly dwindling. Other vehicles try the less sturdy buildings but most are simply left to their fate.*

*Meanwhile...*

*Lieutenant Monta was about to relay the orders to move into the bunker to the squad leaders of his platoon when one of his men stopped him.*

=Corporal Charc=
Sir! Enemy movement just outside the shield's radius.

=Lieutenant Monta=
So soon? It must be some sort of advanced team.

=Corporal Charc=
Scouts.

=Lieutenant Monta=
Possibly, but if we really are dealing with Mandos it is more likely that they are commandos.

*Mando commandos, not good. He relays the news to his company CO and when news reaches the top twenty YVH battle droids are sent towards Monta's position. Monta's Captain then relays some newer, more unique, orders from command.*

=Lieutenant Monta=
Good catch, Corporal.

*Then, switching to his command com frequency.*

=Lieutenant Monta=
:: Alright listen up. New orders from command. We're is moving out back towards the command center and linking up with other platoons from the legion. We have a special assignment. ::

*The Stormtroopers of 5th platoon approach the command center located just inside the Arakyd Industries headquarters. Known unofficially as the Roon Platoon, the men of 5th platoon were all recruits from the planet of Roon. They weren't the only soldiers to be recruited from the planet, they just all happened to end up in the same unit earning it the nickname.

When the platoon reaches their destination they are greeted by an assorted group. There was a small group of civilians, five IG-100 Magnaguards armed to droid equivalent of teeth and Brigadier General Havoc. Their new orders were this: escort the group of engineers to one of two power conduit stations between the AI sector and Hqaq. They were not told anything else.*

Ashrah took a quick look around, zooming in on his HUD and scanning the area. Off in the distance, still too far to make out what was coming...uh...was something coming....Shrugging, he went through the hole, under the shield and into the city

:: Duke, set up a quick explosive trap here for whatever is coming. Fenris, get in here and find us a spot to hunker down a moment until we know what we are fighting.....Lets go boys ::

Suiting action to words, the Mando stepped boldly into the street, then ducked quickly down an alley, flattening himself against a wall in a shadow, his black armour coming in handy

*The big man spat out the cigarr and put his helmet on. Holstering his weapon, he went in last, after fenris. Halfway, he turned and deployed his little LX-4 Proton mine. Just in case someone wanted to check out what this hole under the shiled was doing there.
Jumping out and sliding up from the hole, he ran up next to Ashrah with his bear movement. He managed to still be somewhat silent but he had a lot on his back. A lot of explosive stuff.*

:: Heh. ::

:: You rode a guy while he fley a jetpack? Punching him in the face? How is that possible? If you are riding his back, and he faces forward? Hah! Was it one of those frontal jetpacks the fancy women of Coruscant use? Hah! ::

*He wasnt sounding insulting, he just did what men in any armed military unit do in combat zones. Talk strash while in extreme situations. The big man got out of the hole and put the Flachette launcher into his hand. He walked aiming it forward, scanning for possible ambush points or hiding enemy soldier. Here, everyone alive was either enemy, or non combatant. What he heard from chatter in space, these forces they are meeting dont shy away from using civilians as shields for their deeds. WHo knows, maybe they even have milicia. Boys armed with guns. Pittifull.

He walked after Ashrah into that alley, not hurrying, more half jogging with a watchfull eye and a ready weapon. He walked past ashrah as the vode slid up against the wall. Duke stopped a couple steps down the alley and kneeled down, aiming with his weapon towards the darker end. And as he spoke, he snickered loudly into the comm. From this range, he could splatter anything with dosens of metal peaces.*

:: Nah, you never told that story. ::

*Duke said to the man he just met.*

*As the massive bombardment of Hpaq's shield continues, the shields' degradation is noticed by the battleship orbiting above, providing the light show. Transports are launched, and begin a descent towards Hpaq, careful to make a wide berth around the columns of destruction raining down from space. Each transport carries a hundred men, and there are ten of them descending into the atmosphere of Vulpter.

The transports descend in on different approach vectors, ready to begin juking to avoid incoming fire should it present itself. Each of the transports was escorted by a sleek Mandalorian Bes'uliik fighter, buzzing around it like a protective wasp. Wind buffeted the transports and fighters alike as they sped into Hpaq's atmosphere.*

Re: Hpaq

*Standing in a way that the young soldier fancied as stoic, Fenris quietly fought to slow his breathing and his heart-beat, reminding himself that this was not the first time he'd faced combat. Granted, a planetary invasion was nothing like back-alley firefights with ill-equipped and poorly trained rebels, but the difference was something that he appreciated: it meant that he was moving up. Perhaps this would be his opportunity to earn himself a Clan, a real place amongst his people.

He hoped so.

Ashrah's barked order interrupted his musing, and Fenris was glad for that. Doing nothing allowed him time to think about the potentially fatal plan he was a part of.*

:: "You got it." ::

*After giving Ashrah time to go through the tunnel that they'd dug, Fenris followed, turning on his rifle's safety before dropping to his belly and worming his way into the dark hole. It was tight, but not nearly as tight as it must have been for the big Mandalorian that had preceded him, and the young warrior made it through without trouble. Once on the other side of the shield, he brought his blaster rifle up again, cradling the weapon in both arms, and quickly scanned the surrounding area for hostiles.

Finding none, he searched instead for a sturdy, easily defensible building that would shelter them until they were ready to move deeper into the city. Chuckling quietly at the back-and-forth between the two commandos he accompanied, Fenris raised one hand to point to a building across the street and about two hundred feet away.*

*The twenty YVH droids move rapidly through the Arakyd Industries district towards the area of reported enemy activity. As they proceed their advance photoreceptors and sensors look ahead and spot a flicker of a heat signature as someone with a rather large bundle of something on their back moves into cover.

The droids break into teams of five; one continues to the reported enemy location and finds the tunnel used to get under the shield, another team heads towards where the heat signature was spotted. The remaining two teams head off to the left and right but hold back encase the enemy slips by the second team.*

*Meanwhile...*

*As the next salvo of orbital bombardment is fired General Han Cardiff manages to keep his command staff under control. The man in charge of the shield generator makes a borderline frantic report to the general.*

=Soldier=
Sir! The next attack will bring down the shield completely.

=General Han Cardiff=
Cut it off! Save what power you can.

*Men scramble to follow the general's orders as the enemy cannon fire shoots through the atmosphere and are barely successful. The enemy fire crashes into the shield as it shuts down leaving only 1.4 percent of power left for the shield. As the shield powers down some enemy fire slips through and hits the ground with immense force. Some less sturdy buildings' roofs cave in and almost the entire Arakyd Industries district groans under the stress of the impact.

The shield generator takes some damage from enemy fire and is temporarily offline. A repair team with an escort of Magnaguards is deployed to fix it.*

*As the shield goes down...*

*Lieutenant Monta and his men are on the move from their position as soon as the shield is down, with the volunteering civilians and the Magnaguards following suit. It isn't long before their destination is in sight.*

*Under the incoming missile fire, the transports went evasive, even as their fighter escort dropped back to try and keep the missiles off them. Five of the fighters managed to shoot down both missiles aimed at their transport, four got one of them, and the final fighter was blotted from the sky by a pair of concussion missiles that were just lucky enough to hit his cockpit simultaneously. The rest of the fighters managed to spoof, evade or shoot down their own incoming missiles. Of the transports, three were hit and damaged by nearby missile detonations, as were four of the escorting Bes'uliike. The flight leader snapped orders over the comm.*

=Cpt. Jorek Australis=
:: Go evasive, get those men on the ground. Fighters, form up. We'll help the transports run the gauntlet. ::

*The transports all dropped their noses and dove for the ground, losing altitude at a sickening rate. Behind them, the remaining nine fighters formed into two loose groups, five undamaged, four wounded. Behind all this came the twenty four Werlaara stealth bombers. Twelve of each, a full squadron, approached each of the MRPSDPs, under full stygium cloak, with their gravitic amplitude modulators preventing their mass being detected, and the Ysalamiri on board preventing their pilots being spotted with the Force.

As this was happening, Te Ramikad's fire from orbit ceased pounding the hapless City of Hpaq, and focused on the two defence platforms. Devastating fire rained down from the heavens in great sheets of incandescent destruction, turbolaser and ion particle cannon blasts were unleashed on the platforms.*

*The five approaching droids stop in their tracks and go offline, as they do word spreads between the fifteen remaining YVHs tracking the commandos. Recognizing the threat they shut down their transmitters and receivers and operate independently. The team investigating the tunnel blast the rim and walls of the exit and force a cave in. As soon as they finish they turn around and move in of the three commando's from the rear. The the two other teams of five that remain ahead of the commandos, but off to their left and right, move in as well. With their communications down they could not be shut down by the override code, but were forced to communicate vocally. In addition, if the teams were neutralized there would be no way the command staff would know.*

*Across the Arakyd Industries district...*

*The All Terrain Anti-Air walkers were too big and slow to take cover anywhere and as the enemy transports begin their dive the forty walkers throw up a wall of flak cannon fire in front of the ships.

The weapon's platforms take heavy damage from the orbital strike but manage to return fire with their ion cannons though one platform can only fire one of its two cannons. They reload what missile launchers they can but wait to fire.

Meanwhile, squads of ten are sent to the top of buildings to act as spotters.*

*Jack groaned audibly at the news of approaching YVH droids. He had been prepared for troopers and tanks, but hadn't given a thought to the enemy employing those. It didn't seem to matter, though, because a moment later his comm hissed and crackled to life as Kaine relayed a message to Ashrah. He was busy ensuring the safety was off his rifle, so didn't hear the exact message, but he did hear that it had something to do with the Mandalorians being in possession of override codes. He breathed a sigh of relief.

Too soon, it would seem, because for whatever reason the override codes were rendered ineffective against the remainder of the droids. Perhaps they had devised some sort of countermeasure? To the soldier, the how of it didn't really matter. It was a reality now, one that he would have to deal with, and that was all that mattered. In the alley, Jack raised his rifle, pressing the stock into his right shoulder.

As one of the droids popped into the mouth of the alley, Jack squeezed the trigger on his rifle, adding a spray of blaster bolts meant to take the aggressor in the torso of its chassis to the cloud of superheated metal already heading its way. Without looking to see the outcome, Jack spun on his heel, covering the other entrance to the alley and trusting Duke to watch his back. With a flick of his forefinger, the Mandalorian switched his firing mode to the under-barrel grenade launcher attached to his weapon.*

*The first YVH to make contact with the enemy is quickly cut down by enemy fire, its torso pounded by blaster fire and armor torn into by the armor piercing flechettes. The droid hits the ground, not fully 'dead' but with enough of its internal circuitry damaged to take it out of the fight.

The remaining four droids from the group open fire with their wrist mounted lasers and press in to the alley. As that group closes the distance, the second reaches the other end of the alley. But instead of charging into the alley stay at the opening and fire into the enemy's back.

The droids investigating the tunnel are engulfed in fire as the mine goes off. Two are destroyed by the blast and a third is thrown thirty meters away and lands broken. The remaining two are technically functional, but are trapped under the ruble filling the crater left by the blast and are out of the fight.*

:: ......Sithspit......EMP Grenade.. ::

Ashrah swore under his breath right before letting the other two know what he was doing. reaching his belt, he pulled two EMP grenades off, thumbed them on, giving them 3 seconds, lobbing one towards the droids coming at them, and throwing the other down to the other end of the alley, counting off as they left his hands

:: Three...two...one...pop.... ::

The EMP grenades went off with an electronic WHOOMP, causing his HUD to flicker, hiccup then sputter back to life. He pulled the Blade from its custom sheath on his back, and launched himself at the oncoming Droids. His genetic enhancements helped him move far quicker and more agile in armour than damn near anyone, being he was built to go toe to toe with a Force User, and as such, was over top of Duke, and right in behind Fenris blaster fire, his blade leading the way, arced to smash through the head of one of the Droids on his right. Beskar and Cortosis were pretty much the only two metals this blade couldnt cut through, so he hoped that neither were present in the construction of these particular droids.
he made a mental note to try the override codes one more time....

The fire from behind flew over him, he saw the bolts of red cut air right where he had just stood, and seeing as his vode were concerning themselves with the droids in front and back, he pulled his heavy mando blaster sidearm, turned upwards (wich is down the alley behind them, as he is on his back), and started fireing at anyting that still moved after the EMP hit on that side.
