KR-04 wrote:*At this point, things got a bit difficult.
An attack on the memory core, especially after all this, was most impressive. KR-04 was now forced to stop moving; any unnecessary commands utilized now would almost certainly end him. Every last ounce of processing power was used to beat back the assault on his very core, forcing the technologically much more powerful opponent at bay.
Every last ounce, that is, save for a small bit in reserve.
This small bit forced the arm holding his modified shotgun into the breach he had made. And this small bit took aim at the dark box in the corner, easily reaching the roof, filling almost a fifth of the room.
This small bit of power fired.*
"NO!"
*She screamed out loud, screamed in his head. She tried to stop him from firing, but it was too late; the trigger had already been pulled, there was nothing to be done to stop the round from tearing across the room and into the dark box.
She could only watch in helpless frustration as the round traveled through the vacuum. And though the journey happened in an eyeblink, that was more than enough time for her emotion programming to send flurries of electronic signals through her anger subroutines. Her brief foray back into motor control had caused her to lose ground in the assault on his memory core, all for an exercise that ultimately had proven pointless.. and this only added fuel to the fire.
She had been telling the truth: she did have feelings. And right now, she was feeling what could only be classified as rage.*

*The spread hit the dark box, and sparks flew from each point of impact. There were a few ricochets, but for the most part the forward momentum of each piece continued in that same direction: forward. Once inside, though, the fragments of shrapnel began ricocheting once more, made obvious by the fact that a few of them managed to make their way back out of the box, punching new holes through the metal.
Apparently, there was something inside that could quite literally bounce back bullets...*

*When the shells hit, her avatar dimmed slightly, flickering, a sense of some small failure pervading her senses. She was loyal to her creator, loyal to the memory of Eliana Shan, and this droid had just dared to attempt to bring harm to one of her finest creations. A prototype, yes, but it was still something she had sworn to protect. And she hadn't been able to stop him.
She was mad.
And she let those emotions carry down into the droid; she no longer cared what sort of edge they might give him over her. She wanted him to feel, anything at all, just to give him a taste of something he hadn't experienced before. Because that would give him pause.. And now she truly wanted to see him dead.*
