Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*The survey team finally arrived back, and reported their findings to the General. He was most pleased that the site was still so promising to expand onto once more, and authorised the construction team who had been working on Dymek's factory to head straight over and rebuild the Hanging Moss base.*

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*From the atmosphere a Gladius-Class Freighter lands on the landing pad. The Miy'til Starfighter barely visible due to the reflect coating covering it, it's light bending ability acting out. The loading ramp lowers and two feet appear, the armour black, with silver triming. More and more is revealed with each step, slowly an entire being is revealed, standing at six foot in armour.*

*Nephal, that is the name he goes by. Activating his visor on his armour he scans the horizon around him, and the visor picks up nothing beyond animals scurrying around. Silently, almost naturally silent, the man walks forward toward a turbolift. This place has been abandoned long ago, and it is time to quietly occupy it. However briefly it may be. This is a back water planet with little action. No one would find him here, and he can go about his business.*

*Alas Nephal is a hunter, and as a predator does, he must clear his hunting ground of prey. Gaining dominance over his territory, knowing when new prey enters and when they leave. Leave or are killed as Nephal's prey often are. Taking hold of his TAPL-1 in both hands, he punches in the turbolifts correct level, the level with the control room. He had long ago downloaded the schematics into his armour's system, the guidance system in his HUD leading him where he needs to go. Even so, the silence of each movement is eerie.*

*It is strange how this being's is almost as unnatural as the silence in the building that once burst with life. Step by step he makes his way down the dark halls, the power cut out when no one bothered to keep it running. Safer for a reactor to shut down then to run it indefinitely and risk overload. So as he enters the room, his helmet lighting the way through it's night vision, he instantly activates the power system.*

*Nephal knows how this station is a benefit to him, the very reason he picked it, and of course the location is perfect. A research station on a little known or visited planet with access to military equipment, including encryption methods that are helpful with his things he has to do. Nephal knows what it is he does, but does anyone else? No, not really, his actions are hidden and shaded in mystery. Though there are others that know, they understand, the enlightened he would call them, they themselves are hidden in mystery. Though, in the end, they well could be your very neighbour.*

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*As the shuttle entered the atmosphere as a small ship would without much notice. Once he got to his destination the ramp opened and Xeonon walked out, he was taking the most care and actually wore his Imperial Knight Armour the red standing out compared the the greenery that was everywhere else. He walked into the compound and found it completely silent besides the machinery usually found in there, still he walked the halls feeling that there was something there.*

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*Nephal enters the Imperial Research Outpost and walks through the dark metallic corridors. Xeonon expected to be following closely so he is not left behind. After mazing through they would reach the control room, something here having shifted. Someones been here.*
You've been here already haven't you?

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*Xeonon followed Nephal although they did not take the same route as Xeonon had previously after a short while he realized where they were going. After a while they made it to the control room, Xeonon thought he had put everything back the way it was originally. Either this guy was bluffing or he had forgotten something.*

Yes this is why I am here, hidden sensors went off when this place was reactivated.

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*Nephal watches Xeonon for a reaction, reading his facial expressions. A slight movement of the face can give away even the best hidden things. Cross race Psychology was something Nephal actively tried to understand. What makes these people tick, and how they react under certain circumstances. Either way, Nephal knew he could confirm his suspicions with ease should Xeonon deny it, but alas he does not.*
Interesting. What were you expecting to find?
*The question was completely serious, and seemed void of anything but the vague words. Even so, there was an element of persuasion, perhaps the psuedo-friendliness was the reason.*

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*Xeonon knew he was being pumped for information, but for the time being he allowed it to happen. It was apparent that this guy knew the answer to all his questions so Xeonon played along. Letting out a loud sigh as if he had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar he began to explain.*

Well a hidden sensor inside that we left here years ago was tripped. Someone came into here even though it is abandoned, and considering you knew how to navigate the halls and where it was located can I assume that someone was you?

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

Yes. It was me.
*I walk to a Console and open up a file. Reading over it quickly I show it to Xeonon. The file would show a message made of many different languages. Almost as if each letter was a different tongue. It was a strange encryption, perhaps he could decipher what it said, but it would be unlikely he could decipher the code within it.*
Can you understand it?

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*Xeonon looked at the console, as the letters flashed by he recognized some of them not full words but certain letters but the longer he stared the more it seemed to come together in his mind, small words here and there all written in different languages a Manod'a letter here some huttese there.*

Not at first glance but I do recognize some of the letters and words... why are all those languages blended into one?

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*I type in a code, and the languages translate into Galactic Basic. Looking at it, it creates a strange jumble of letters. I type in another code and the code shifts into something readable.*
  Code:
Requesting Outer Rim Outpost established confirmation? The Watchers await the response from the Fallen One. Mission Debrief, and new objectives to be briefed shortly afterward. Over.

I suppose the question remains of what I say. Do I say that it is compromised by you being here? Killing you will bring more forces here, but letting you live is not a grand solution either.
*The things I am saying seem neither threatening but isn't nonthreatening either. It is simply unsettling that I can say such a thing without any emotion.*

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*Xeonon was taken aback at the non-nonchalant way the man was talking about his possible death. Still he would not flee like a child who got caught doing something naughty, no he would face this like a man.*

Kill me? All that I have seen is you looking for conformation. Maybe I want to learn more, if you do kill me what is it going to hurt you plus a death threat can usually keep a man silent.

*I move my hand to my side arm and remove my helmet once more. My smile on my face less then appealing or comforting.*
"Can" is not a word I use. It is will, or will not. If it will not, then it must. If it will, then it must remain so. Let me ask you this, why do you think I am here?

*Xeonon did his best not to grimace and he thought he succeed this creature was not easy on the eyes but it was tolerable. He thought for a minute on what this armour clad figure could be looking for.*

It will everyone has their secrets. Might you be looking for information?

*I almost chuckle, but instead a slight grin exits my features. I bring my hand to the back of Xeonon and lead him around to the console.*
I doubt you would know of who I work for. But we are very important, more then most will ever realize. We needed an outpost and what better place then here, on a small moon people rarely visit?

Re: Imperial Research Outpost

*Xeonon thought long and hard at what this guy might be. He was part of an organization looking for a long term base of operations, so that rules out the illusive Gendohardian assassins, or any other group he could think of.*

So your looking for covert, and out of the way, what exactly do you and others like you do that is so important.

*I turn to a chair that would have belonged to the previous Outpost's commander and take a seat.*
We have contacts on different levels of governments, corporations, we are the guys that, don't deal with the leaders, but wine and dine with the people, the chiefs of staff and those that are below them, we are more subtle than anything in this galaxy. We believe in showing off money, showing off power, but not revealing who we belong to. We have a very strict structure and it is not about who you are but about your accomplishments, and at any time anybody can get stabbed in the back by the next guy.

So you get in good with the middle man learn some secrets from them then work your way up in this shadowy group. Sounds like fun.

*I begin to laugh, and slowly it turns almost as if it was mocking Xeonon.*
We cause the rise and falls of Empires, not some petty business. It is not a matter of whether it is fun or not, it is a matter of surviving. A matter of doing what ever is necessary, and gaining the power to keep you from falling.

*I chuckle, though it sounds more like a strange growl then a type of laugh. Slowly I turn away and start tapping away at the console.*
If you have a reason for it to remain strong, you have the goals, and then you have the means. By all means, we may use you. But what is a weak Empire? Merely an annoyance for the stronger to swat away like a small bug. Though, I can't truly say what my superiors have in mind.
