Re: Jivv Space City

*Repairs had been made and the city had returned to normal, thanks to the brave efforts and willing donations of the citizens and government or the entire Corellian Sector. The GCCS-administered orbital cities around Duro, including the capital Jivv, were in better repair than at any time in the last three decades, and it was hoped that this progress would lead to an increase in tourism.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*Upon receiving word of the dissolution of the Phoenix Imperium, and the subsequent transfer of the entirety of the planet Duro to the Galactic Coalition, Admiral Masson immediately called a meeting between his top military commanders and the primary Coalition political officials for each of the ten current Coalition cities. They would need to develop a solid plan for integrating the other ten space cities into their government and society. One key tenet of this plan would have to be easing the Imperial-dominated cities into a new government style. They would have to be careful not to upset the civilian population. Certainly, some would welcome the changes, but it was not practical to assume that all would. Some Imperial policies and bureaucracies would have to be continued short term.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*Leaving his starfighter behind in a secured hangar at Jivv's main spaceport, in the trusted care of both his R2 unit Sev and a pair of Duros security guards eager to make a good impression on the Jedi and the GCCS, Kel strolled down the main street of the orbital city, and turned in at the third cantina he spotted. After that incredibly lengthy series of meetings and political discussions, he really needed to kick back and try to relax and clear his mind. The Jedi Master almost rued, for the first time, turning his head on civilian politics. Jedi politics was just as complicated, only he had less of an advantage since everyone had enhanced perceptions about mental states and attitudes.*

*Kel smiled slightly, almost grimly, as he took a seat in a booth in the back corner.* *He hoped that his green Jedi robed had not attracted too much attention, for it wasn't often (to his knowledge) that the Corellian Jedi frequented Jivv. To the Corellian's relief, no one seemed to be taking a bit of notice. He had chosen his spot well. He could lie low here, off the grid, get some things negotiated, and get some rest.*

*A waiter droid arrived.*

"Oh, yes, I'll take your best tihaar, and your best nerf sausages and hotcakes, Corellian style." *The Jedi said quickly, before the droid even had a chance to speak or offer a menu.* *Kel had plenty of experience with longwinded, talkative droids, and he didn't have the patience right now.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*Later, after the serving droid had brought a frosty glass of the Mandalorian drink and a steaming plate piled high with fat, juicy brown sausages and gently golden hotcakes, Kel'Al got down to business. That is, the business for which he had come to Duro --- although he didn;t waste any time attacking one of his favorite meals, either.* *Keeping as low a profile as he could in the corner booth, the Jedi causally set a datapad on the table in front of him, and switched it on. Inputting his passcode, the Jedi drew up a Galactic Coalition intelligence feed and skimmed through the recent entries, looking for anything telltale.*

*While he no longer held any official position within the civilian government, there was still a good deal of information passed between the organization and the Jedi Order. In this case, Kel was looking for information on himself, and on other activity on Duro --- was anyone tracking him? There was very little of either --- a good sign. There were a huge number of dispatches concerning some sort of NOE strike on Corellia. Kel's heart longed to open that Pandora's box but he knew that it would distract him from his current job. If Corellia truly needed him, he would know. Otherwise, he would only do more harm than good to his appointed task by showing his hand too soon. He would have to trust the force if his project was to succeed.*

*Satisfied with what he had seen, and eager to get the word Corellia off his screen, Kel switched over to his do to list.* *He needed to find some independent information brokers who could find the data he needed, and he needed to make purchasing arrangements for the squadron. Once that was done, he needed to continue to lie low while he searched the Jedi records for likely members for his new squadron. That would probably necessitate visits to other planets, which he could accomplish on his way to Arkania and the Jedi Guardian base. And Arhiia . . . .*

*Kel's previous line of thought trailed off as he allowed his mind to wander a little bit.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*A single Consular-class Cruiser hovered into the hanger, landing gear folding down as it began to ease up on the repulsorlifts. A groan and a hiss emitted from the ship as the weight pushed down on the landing gears and the ramp opened up to touch the ground. Several groups of people emerged from the ship, all coming from Serenno. Eight traders from the local marketplaces and businesses of Serreno stepped down and headed in the city, looking for new products to sell and other traders to converse with. Four wealthy members of a local royal family emerged with their aids, heading to a nearby corporation to do business to expand their family's coffers. And finally, two men dressed in normal attire emerged with the crew, blending in with the group until they dispersed through the city.

The two men walked continued to walk down the streets, looking for a likely place to find a contact. Some of their local eyes and ears sent word that there was talk of business for them. Even if it wasn't true, it was worth sending an agent or two to check it out. And that is what these two were here for.

And the best place to check out leads was the cantina. In and out they went, with one agent watching the outside from various places while the other went in and checked the place out. They took about ten minutes at each place, keeping an experienced eye out for their marks.

A good hour later, the agent found himself in the Drifter's Launch. He stepped over to the bar, resting his weary legs as he sat down. Glancing back to the door, he noticed that his partner wasn't in sight. Good. That means he couldn't see his partner getting his first and last drink aboard the city. Ordering a small glass of the local brew, he waited until it was in his hand before he started to scan the occupants of the bar.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*Shaking his thoughts away, the Jedi Master glanced back down at his datapad.* *Searching for Jedi pilots would have to wait while he let his trail cool off, but maybe in a backwater cantina like whatever the name of this place was (Drifter's Launch), he could find a good information broker. If so, that would almost make up for delaying his trip to Endor.* *The young Corellian shifted his gaze towards the bar, looking for anyone who might catch his attention, either visually or through the force. His attention focused first on a male Rutian Twi'lek who seemed to be sitting and waiting almost as if acting as a clerk of some sort. But then, a Duros slid up to the Twi'lek and Kel's enhanced senses just managed to spot a transfer of deathsticks and credits. He sighed slightly.* *So much for the deathstick trade on Duro having been stamped out by the Imperials.*

Jace Stealer wrote:*Ordering a small glass of the local brew, he waited until it was in his hand before he started to scan the occupants of the bar.*

*There. There was something about that man who had just entered and bought a drink. He was just an ordinary guy, the type that would never stand out in any crowd, and he hadn't done anything at all to attract attention. Kel had to watch him for a moment before he even realized what the man was doing, as his crowd scanning techniques were unusually subtle. Interesting. And yet something prodded Kel, whispering through the Force, that this perfectly unimportant bar patron was actually somebody. The Jedi wasn't one to question his feelings.*

*Waiting until the man was looking directly at the Jedi in the corner booth (although he was unlikely to recognize the lounging man, wrapped in a decrepit cloak, as a Jedi), Kel raised one hand, moving his fingers in an arc as he made a subtle wave, then crooked a single finger at the stranger.* *Come here, the motion said, as did the subtle Force persuasion he added.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*The agent scanned the bar, noticing nothing of particular interest on his first pass. A death-stick deal to one side, a few drunks catching up on old times on the other. This cantina was more-or-less inactive in terms of illegal trafficking and shady deals. He took another sip as he scanned the bar again. In mid-sip, he spotted something. Or someone for that matter. Corner booth, off to his left, was a man gesturing for him. Normally when somebody motioned for him like that he would get a red flag and leave. But something about this one seemed different. Almost as if this was the guy he was looking for.

He slowly turned his head away from the man, finishing his drink. No need to make this transition obvious. He took the next minute to finish his drink and place the empty glass on the counter. Getting from the chair he began walking towards the booth. But instead of taking a seat, he walked right past the booth and into the refresher. He took a few moments to empty his fluid waste tank and wash his hands before stepping back out. This time he slid into the seat opposite of the curious man, making sure to slide far enough in to cast himself into the shadows. He rested his back against the wall, watching the man as he decided to let him explain himself.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*As the man slowly turned away again, the Jedi sank back into his seat and waited patiently. He watched idly as the man did really quite a lot to avoid attracting attention.* *This guy definitely acted like a pro. But a pro at what, exactly?* *Kel glanced down at his datapad as if he were deep in thought, or deep in reading some new holonet dispatch. In reality, however, the Jedi Master was stretching out through the force and gently tugging at the edges of the stranger's mind, observing the other living being's presence in the force, and trying to read some clues as the man set aside his drink and made his way across the to shadowy corner booth.*

*The mental probing wasn't so strong that the man would notice it, and certainly Kel had no intention of forcing anything from the man. This was not about control. He just wanted to get a feel for attributes, attitudes, mood, etc. Did the man have a guilty conscience? Was he hiding something? Was he looking for something? Sometimes the force could reveal a great deal, unless of course, this man was trained to block his mind from such queries.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*Unfortunately for the agent, he hadn't an ounce of Force-sensitivity to him, so picking up on the gentle mind probe would be impossible. As Kel'Al searched through his mind and feelings, he would have picked up on several noticeable things. He had defenses up. Not against the force, but emotional defenses. Ones that professionals had developed to keep their focus on their work. He'd also notice that his mind was systematically going over ideas. Almost as if he was taking steps to make sure he knew what to do.

As the agent sat down, the Jedi would pick up on another thing; he was expecting this encounter. A sense of relief accompanying it. As if he finally found what he had been looking for. And that he was looking for opportunities. To get to know the one that beckoned him, as well as other things.*
*The agent raised one eyebrow in inquiry, waiting for Kel'Al to make the first move.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*Kel smiled slightly, and leaned forward.* *Taking in all of the vague clues and forms he had gathered from the Force, he felt more safe than ever in the guess that this man could help him. Certainly there was no sign of threat, and a significant indication that this man was trained to look for something, and that the stranger felt he had found it. But the profile he had gathered still didn't tell him the man's occupation. And, the Jedi Master figured, maybe it wouldn't be wise to bound himself too narrowly in stating what he needed. This man might be able to help him in some other way even if he wasn't an information broker.*

"I'm looking for someone who can help me get a job done." *The Jedi said, speaking in a low tone while avoiding the hissing that would have accompanied a true whisper.* "It needs to be done anonymously. It can't be traced back to me or to my associates under any circumstances. I am prepared to pay handsomely, especially if you are able to bring me information on a certain topic. Can you help me?"

Re: Jivv Space City

*The agent listened to the mysterious man. Did he know what he did for a living? Nobody just picks out a guy in the bar, knowing what he is and what they can do for him. He had to have gotten tipped off of their presence. Somebody was onto them.

But it seemed as though they weren't after them for harmful reasons. This odd man before him was asking for a business opportunity, which he would provide by all means.*
*The agent shifted himself slightly, resting his arms on the table as he studied the man before him. He glanced at the occupants sitting around the cantina, making sure none of them were watching.*
=Agent=
"Well, you happened to pick out the right man...*He paused as he pulled out a datapad, setting it on the table in front of him*...what sort of information are you looking for?"

Re: Jivv Space City

*Kel had been careful with his words. If the man was some sort of assassin or mercenary, he would not have immediately connected needing a job done and the request for information. Instead, Kel expected such a person would have asked eagerly about the job, and not commented so quickly about the information request.* *The Jedi smiled slightly at the response, choosing his next words carefully.*

*If Kel hadn't been keeping a tight lid on his emotions, he would have laughed aloud as the man replied. Not laughing at the man, mind you, for there was nothing particularly funny about the man or his words, but rather laughing at the wonders of the insight the force had given him. It was one more validation that his project was something good, right, and beneficial not only to the Jedi, but to the unprotected innocents of the galaxy. But he couldn't tell this man all that. In fact he wasn't even sure it was side to tell the man that he was a Jedi. Best to get straight to the point, then flesh out details later.*

"I'm seeking information on the New Order of the Eye, or specifically, the identities and activities of it's leadership." *Pausing, Kel flipped his datapad over and over in his hands as he eyed the man in front of him.* *There were more specifics he wanted to know, but he'd let the man digest that request before elaborating. Instead, he should explain how he'd picked the man out, lest he suspect a trap.*

"I'm a kind of spy myself, and I had a hunch you might be in the information business. I wouldn't know you from Palpatine's ghost, but I can spot my own kind, and it looks like I was right." *This wasn't the whole truth, but it was true in a sense. Kel's time with Corellian intelligence did give him some relevant experience with these sorts of things. Later, if things worked out, he could reveal his force sensitivity.* "I'm not looking for trouble, nor will I ask how you get your information. I just need the job done discretely, and it can't be traced."

Re: Jivv Space City

*The agent listened to the mysterious man's general request. Information on the New Order of the Eye, or the NOE for short. While there was a large bunch of people looking for said information, the first step to finding out who this guy was had been taken. Now that he had a path to work with, he may be able to narrow it down. And while he probably wouldn't figure it out by the time he walked out of the cantina, he was confident that they would be close enough when he came back with the information.

His eyes narrowed somewhat when the man said he could be loosely associated with spies. An interesting development. No spy in their right mind would admit to that, unless they were confident that they were with people who wouldn't betray them. That, or he was confident in his abilities to hold his tongue while under a knife.*
*He placed his hand on his datapad, one eyebrow raised ever so slightly.* "Why don't you just head to the planets they control and look up the CEOs? I'm sure they've got some sort of figure-heads that you can pick up on and find out who's pulling the strings...*He paused while he took the datapad off the table.*...better yet, why doesn't a man like yourself just get their hands dirty instead of hiring those like him?

*But despite the jest, the agent was interested.**Punching in a command on the datapad, he placed it back onto the table. It was now ready for a secure and encoded data transfer, in case the client had more specific details.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*Kel realized that he probably shouldn't have said as much as he did, but really he had only provided information that hinted in the wrong direction, not the right direction. He had no intention of revealing his true identity, powers, or affiliation until he knew his contact much better (and maybe not even then). Claiming to be a spy was a half-truth at best, and the risk was minimal, compared to the test it offered this information broker. Kel knew he had to reveal enough of the truth to determine whether this stranger was trustworthy, but keep enough secrets that he could simply vanish into thin air if need be.*

"Maybe my own cover has been blown, or maybe I've already done as you suggested and want a second opinion, if you will, as to whether my data is accurate." *The young Corellian's eyes twinkled.* *He was up to something, but he wasn't quite ready to say what it was.* "Or maybe I want to know how good you are before I give you a real assignment." *His tight pressed lips curled upwards into a half grin.* *Or maybe it was all three . . . .*

*He paused, choosing his words carefully, and glanced down as the agent fiddled with his datapad. Then his eyes swept the room, but no one seemed to be paying them any mind.* "I know who the En-Oh-Eee leadership is, but there are some details about them that I would like to know. I'll place the information on your datapad." *Kel drew out his own datapad, which he had purchased specifically for this mission, and initiated a secure transfer.* *Brand new, it held no personal identifiers, and Kel had hand-typed all of the data it held. He wasn't about to be caught carrying anything that could give him away.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*The man nodded, and silently accepted the datapad. Kel leaned backward casually, waiting while the man packed away the communications device, so as not to attract attention to the table by making a motion to depart.* *On the datapad he had also provided a com code that could be used, through a round-about method with many re-directions, to contact Kel. Someone really diligent could probably trace all the hops and find that it ended up with a company that was actually a front for Corellia's intelligence service, but that still wouldn't implicate the Jedi himself.*

"You can take what I've given you, or not, the choice is yours, but I'm afraid I must be going." *The mysterious Corellian said apologetically, as he stood up, tucked away his own datapad, and left, paying the barkeeper a handsome tip on the way out. He doubled back through the streets a few times, stretching out with the force as he did so to ensure as best he could that he was not being followed.*

*Then, the Jedi returned to the spaceport, and blasted off in his Corellian Tracer.*

Re: Jivv Space City

*The boy had run away from home again. His parents had tried everything, but he had an impossible knack for opening locks, removing barricades, disassembling windows, even taking apart masonry walls into their component bricks. And apparently their six-year-old now found this funny, or at least, it was one of the few ways that the boy genius could properly challenge and exercise his mind. The parents were at a complete loss. Not only was Jacob apparently smart enough to understand how ANYTHING was constructed just by looking at it and touching it, but he also possessed superb strength to lift and move and change his surroundings, usually without actually breaking anything.*

*Today was no different. Leaving carefully stacked raw panes of glass where his school's detention classroom's windows had once been, he was off, and the teachers were not amused. They asked Jacob's parents, as they always did, why their son had no discipline, and why he couldn't behave like the other children. But they were poor folk, and they had no answers except apologies.*

=Jacob=
*Oblivious to the firestorm he had left in his wake, the boy wandered innocently through the downtown areas of Jivv, looking for some new challenge to present itself. Coming to a busy intersection, he had an idea, and his short footsteps quickened to a run. Reaching the thick durasteel pole which held traffic signals aloft for several layers of passing speeder traffic, he cupped his hands around the base, and then his feet, and began to shimmy upward.*

*When he reached the cross bar for the first set of signals, he paused, and looked down. His heart seemed to fall into his stomach, he was so high up, and the ground looked so far away. Clutching the pole tightly, he froze, too scared to go down or up.*
