Re: Kuat City

*To further accommodate Kuati sensitivities Dún na Manaan has been relocated to the north of Kuat City, just 10 kilometers outside the range of the city shield. Likewise, one PTL-05 launch platform was dismatled & the remaining three brought into a range 10 km off the city shield, west, south & east. A w-165 planetary turbolasers is mounted central in each. 4 Hypervelocity Guns were installed at each corner of the platforms. 375 Togorian Marines handle operating these defensive positions. Patrols of the open terrain continue at a limited scale*

Dún na Kuat

The garrison base consists of eight levels, topped by a sensor and communications tower. Levels one through to five, all identical in size and shape, consist mainly of the large surface vehicle bays where all the surface vehicles are stored, maintained and deployed from. They also contain most of the personnel quarters as well as the armory, detention cells and most other key base areas. Level six hold the officer's quarters, TIE pilot’s quarters, command rooms and so on. Level seven consists entirely of the TIE fighter hangars. Level eight is the deployment chutes and control rooms for the base's TIEs. TIEs are launched, retrieved and manipulated by the base's powerful suite of tractor beam projectors. The base has underground sub-levels which contain the generators and main infrastructure.

Personnel
The garrison is commanded by a major general and houses 1,720 base personnel and 1,280 combat troops (Togorian Marines), divided as follows:
300 command personnel
500 support/services personnel
200 technical personnel
200 science personnel
100 medical personnel
100 gunners/weapons technicians
80 walker technicians
70 trade mission/diplomatic personnel
60 ground crew technicians
25 controllers
25 sensor technicians
10 speeder bike technicians
50 Intelligence officers
Combat forces
50 walker crewers
40 TIE fighter pilots
800 stormtroopers
200 perimeter support troops
150 base security/detention troops
40 scout troopers
Vehicle complement
30 TIE fighters & 5 TIE bombers
20 SPMA-T (Self-Propelled Medium Artillery)
10 AT-STs
40 speeder bikes
60 landspeeders
100 miscellaneous vehicles (construction, cargo, maintenance, etc.)
Defenses
The Kuat garrison base is equipped with three heavy twin turbolaser turrets and six heavy laser turrets, as well as tractor beam projectors. Though shielded, the garrison also possesses extensive ground defenses such as anti-infantry and anti-vehicle minefields and a ten-meter high electrified death fence. This has variable power settings, so it can either severely shock an individual or fry them outright in an instant, depending on the base commander's choice. In this case the fence is set at full power.
To get through the fence and into the base, units must pass through force field gates. These are flanked by 2 guard towers with stormtroopers on constant duty and positioned evenly around the fence's perimeter. Running behind the fence and parallel to it is an elevated catwalk patrolled by stormtroopers with guard towers (each equipped with electrobinoculars, floodlights, and alarm systems) spaced every 100 meters.

PTL-05 launch platforms:

PTL-05 launch platform carries a w-165 planetary turbolaser. Powerful enough to destroy an Imperial class Star Destroyer in a single volley these provide formidable defensive measures. The platform that it rests on, which is 150 meters in diameter, contains the defensive systems, as well as room for the crew of nearly 50 people and the 50 meter diameter reactor core, which generated enough power to allow the weapon to shoot once each 10 seconds. Effectively targets enemies through long-range sensors. Additional targeting information is provided by sensor arrays on orbiting satellites. This information is fed into the global processing network, which can in turn provide firing vectors for additional turbolasers. This system allows quick and efficient planetary defense. The w-165 combats overheating dangers by employing 48 overload dispersal tubes, which allow excess heat to be absorbed or redirected. They are defended by 4 meters of deep armor-plating and several deflector shield projectors & capable of turning a full 360 degrees and swinging in a 180 degree arc.

3 Hypervelocity Guns
Hypervelocity Guns: fire 120 slugs per per minute, released in 10 second intervals. Ray & particle shield generators, buried with power plant used drive the guns & generators.

The standing city shield runs off a DSS-02 Shield Generator

In total 10000 Togorian Marines stand as planetary guard of Kuat.

The defenses on the surface stand as follows:
City Shield run off a DSS-02 Planetary Shield Generator
Dún na Kuat - Garrison base
3 PTL-05 Launch Platform w/ w-165 planetary turbolaser
12 Hypervolocity Guns (four per platform)
2405 Togorian Marines & 1000 Togorian Highlanders are stationed on the surface

The defenses on the surface stand as follows:
City Shield run off a DSS-02 Planetary Shield Generator
Dún na Kuat - Garrison base
3 w-165 planetary turbolaser w/ 12 Hypervolocity Guns (four per platform)
3 PTL-05 Launch Platform
2405 Togorian Marines & 1000 Togorian Highlanders are stationed on the surface

The PTL-05 Launch Platform or Proton Torpedo Turret was a turret fitted with four proton torpedo launchers. They could be used to attack from a fairly long range and were especially effective against infantry. Its torpedoes were stronger than that of the MPTL-2a but had reduced range.

w-165 planetary turbolaser
This turbolaser is powerful enough to blast an Imprial-class Star Destroyer into pieces with a single volley. The platform it rests on, which is 150 meters in diameter, contain the defensive systems, as well as room for the crew of nearly 50 people and the 50 meter-diameter reactor core, which generate enough power to allow the weapon to shoot once each 10 seconds.
This turbolaser can effectively target enemies through the use of its long-range sensors that are located on the platform. Additional targeting information is provided by sensor arrays on orbiting satillites. This sensor information can then be fed into the global proccessing network, which can in turn provide firing vectors for additional turbolasers. This system allows quick and efficient planetary defense.
The w-165 combats overheating dangers by employing 48 overload dispersal tubes, which allow excess heat to be absorbed or redirected. The w-165 is defended by 4 meters of deep armor-plating and several deflector shield projectors. It is capable of turning a full 360 degrees and swinging in a 180 degree arc.

Re: Kuat City

*The Dynamic-class freighter made its way through the upper reaches of Kuat's atmosphere and glided towards the designated landing area. As it was flying on a straight course, though, Archais was elsewhere other than the controls. He had his carryall strapped to his back as he stepped to the rear hatch, and had set the autopilot to land at the pad as if someone was actually at the controls.

With a gesture, he willed the manual activation to trigger, swinging the hatch open. With a gust of wind, the hatch reared open, and a howling wind shrieked through the vessel as Archais gazed down at the hastily-passing landscape. Without hesitation, he leaped from the still-moving craft, still several kilometers from the surface.

He was in free-fall. The wind tore at him, flapping his jacket about his ankles as the tails were caught in the tremendous drafts of the speed he traveled at. His eyes were narrowed, faint streaks of tears trailing from the corners as the icy wind chilled his face.

He spun in a lazy lateral circle, homing in on the surface. The buildings that had started as faint rectangles so high above the earth quickly grew in size, and it was then that he reached to the darkside, drawing upon his fear - panic was difficult to stave off, as any who would try such a stunt would find. It was difficult to not scream as gravity tore at his stomach, but years of combat and battle had taught him not to scream at worse.

He felt his speed lessen as he drew nearer to the surface, but it was still too fast. Fortunately, Archais had foreseen that, which was why he had ensured to preserve his forward velocity - rather than striking the surface at a 90 degree angle, he had a relatively shallow angle of entry, greatly lessening the force with which he would strike. He realized his speed was still too great, and so redirected the Force he was channeling to his feet. He could see a shimmering around his feet, and flipped vertically so that he came in feet-first. He angled himself toward a long-abandoned permacrete skyway, an archaic motor vehicle speedway that had been eschewed with the development of repulsors.

It was devoid of traffic obviously, and so when he landed it was of no issue to passersby. His feet struck - or more precisely, the shields around his feet hit. He had cast a pair of shields about both his feet, and those were what struck the ground. They tore the concrete as they struck and lined a path as his momentum was killed, and that pair of paths that ripped apart the concrete and dug into the earth went for some fifty yards, until his momentum was finally abated enough for him to leap from his path and land upon solid ground at a run. He slowed his pace, darting into an alleyway at the terminus of the straight road.

He ducked into a nearby alcove and checked himself - all his effects were upon his person, and his carryall was securely strapped to his back. His plan, thus far, had worked perfectly. Now time to move on to the next part...*

Re: Kuat City

*As Archais made his way through the dark alleyways, he kept an eye out for wayward citizens. His secrecy needed to be maintained, and if that meant dispatching a bypasser, so be it. As he walked through the alley, he passed by a door linked to a restroom facility, and entered. Moments later, he emerged wearing a set of clothes that had served him well - a gaudy tropical-themed shirt, khaki pants, and a moderately-sized hat accompanied by a very unique set of sunglasses. Within the processors of the sunglasses were roughly the equal amount of data interpretation machinations of a Mandalorian buy'ce, allowing for rapid data translation and communication. An assassin's tool - a craftsman's tool.

An hour's walk brought him to the heart of the city, where rich merchants and middle-class families bustled about and went about their lives. He was lost in the tide, just another face moving on to the next phase of whatever single of countless journeys took place at that very time.

His gaze, hidden behind the sunglasses, carried about the large plaza. Aircraft were everywhere, from private vessels to mass transports to the occasional law enforcement vessel. What he looked for was quite commonplace - and a moment later, he found it.

A long line waited at the end of the plaza, and at the head of it was a collection of massive space yachts, a passenger transport firm. Typically these vessels transported large numbers of individuals long distances, and at reasonable prices if one was willing to settle. Archais entered the line, and waited.

And waited.

And waited.

...after what seemed like an eternity, it was his turn to walk up to the check-in terminal. He approached the female attendant, and was greeted.*

= Female Attendant =
"Good day sir, how many will be traveling?"

= Archais =
"One, under the name *a glancing look at one of the many forged passports he carried with him* Nuhlsithe."

*The attendant took the passport, scanning it and ensuring its validity. It chimed in without protest.*

= Attendant =
"Very good sir, and your destination?"

= Archais =
"Zion City, Mustafar. A bit of exotic sightseeing, you know."

= Attendant =
"Very good. Your transport will be the Galactic Ward, located at Dock 7-Alpha on the walkway to your left. Next please?"

*Archais took his passport and traveled the designated walkway, moving along its girth until he arrived at the foot of the mammoth transport. He found his room and made certain to hang a "Do Not Disturb" sign from its ingress panel.

Several days' journey awaited him, and as he felt the subtle pull of the vessel's departure, he took a lotus position and meditated, preparing for the time of trial ahead.*

Re: Kuat City

*She had had enough of it all.

For too long now they ruled the affairs of the rest of us, the 'lesser ones' as so many of them seemed to look at the majority. Just because they were born 'special' didn't give them the right to reign over the majority. It was because of them that the galaxy was so chaotic, so unsafe.

For Isadori, this was no longer acceptable. She had been a leading Kuati noblewoman for years, climbing the ranks of Kuati and galactic politics with the usual ambition that the politically astute women of her stature and stock had done for millennia. The decision to leave and branch out in her cause was not an easy one. Her family expected her to stay put, ride out the storms, to do as the Kuati nobility had always done and thrive in whatever situations came their way.

But as fleets amassed above her homeworld, this was no longer an option. Something had to be done about them, all of them. They were ruining her world, ruining her galaxy, they had to be controlled.

All of the credits were transferred to various accounts across the galaxy, all of her valuable belongings transferred to her ship, and her staff, bodyguards, and telbuns were on board and ready to leave. Taking one last look around her empty estate, she shook her head bitterly, sad that it had to come to this.

Inside her ship, she gave the pilots the go-ahead to depart, and as they were making their way out of the atmosphere, she pressed the button to the remote in her hand, setting off charges all over her estate that turned the entire place into a heap of slag.

The exhumed bodies that were retrieved for her and planted all over the estate were likely covered in so much debris and damaged beyond recognition that there would be no evidence that they were not really living beings killed by what should appear to be a few stray turbolaser blasts from orbit destroying her estate. Her forensic experts had seen to that. Any investigation could only point to that unfortunate side-effect of war - a war that could have been avoided if it weren't for all of those unnaturals out there.

As the blueness of the atmosphere turned into the blackness of space, Isadori sat in her seat and smiled.*

*A single transport drifted down through the atmosphere towards the city. Heading to one of the poorer sections of town, the transport touched down and immediately began unloading people and belongings. Many of those who stepped off the ship were met by open arms of close family members. While some stayed and conversed, others went about their business elsewhere. A lot of the people who had come aboard the transport were seeking work up in the famous Kuat Shipyards. The recent war effort would require more workers, and the rich citizens of Kuat were simply to proper and proud of their wealth to answer the call. Several complexes nearby allowed those people to stay in them until transport could be arranged. Among those several hundred individuals, around ten of them waited as well, hoping to get jobs in one of the biggest shipyard in the galaxy.*

Re: Kuat City

*The flags over the governmental offices in Kuat City changed colors so often it seemed to the citizens that someone else was in power every week. From the IF to the Phoenix Imperium to now Dark Tide, the planet changed hands startlingly quickly lately. However, life for the day to day citizen changed relatively little.

Governor Kalis Bertram was relieved of that fact, noting over the budgetary figures for the planet as well as the orbiting KDY shipyards over their heads. Kalis had watched everything as though it were a great dance, as his governorship survived three planetary regimes. His wife, Tasha was grateful for the continued support of her husband's political career no matter who was funding the campaign contributions as long as it meant she remained in the governor's mansion with a huge household budget.

Whoever had been swapping the planets like pieces on a game board, the Kuati people were allowed to retain their freedoms, their ways of life and as long as they supported that, Gov. Bertram allowed peaceful transitions to take place, in turn giving his support of the outlying protectorate of his native planet.

The sun is just setting over the skyline as he puts the finishing touches on the paperwork for the Lords of Dark Tide. He had never met one, but he had heard some lovely things about some of the things they had done on other worlds. He could only hope those stories were the truths rather than the outrageous stories of atrocity actually committed by them in times of war.*

Re: Kuat City

*The shipyards were the only thing that made Kuat famous, the wildlife that dotted the pristine landscapes did nothing to bring tourists planetside. The planetary ring of docks, apartments and commercial districts, that's what the people were wanting to come here for. Starships, weapons of war, tanks, you name it. That's what they came for. Sure the proceeds from their orders came to pay for the upkeep of the planet, but it didn't mean that a thin layer of dust began to build over the darkened alleyways of this Dark Tide controlled system.

With the storm rolling through the halls of the Jedi Temple, much of the soldiers stationed here were eager to hear the signal. The signal that would unleash the second wave of men, currently drinking themselves stupid inside the Cantina's. They were the reinforcements that their faceless lord would've called upon... but something was wrong. It had been three days and nothing sounded.

Had the tide crashed through the Republic's Capital and taken the system for their own? Had they wiped everything out and left nothing behind but a sea of blood? Or had they failed in their task? The men and women of the Dark Tide would never know until it was too late...*
