Re: Main Bar

*Dziesiec seems to have won this round of verbal sparring, as the others let him run the conversation for a bit. The other three Mandos pretend to focus on their drinks as they look for a way to interrupt and get Carmen talking to them instead.*

=Dziesiec=
I can't say that any of us here have ever served alongside Bralor vode and most of our healers have been little more than combat medics. Thirty years ago only Dziewiec would be likely to have been fighting. Do you know the name of the ship by chance?

*Dziesiec pauses a minute when Carmen mentions a temple and Siedem jumps at the opportunity.*

=Siedem=
A healer working for a temple? Your father wouldn't have been a jetii, now, would he?

*A quick glance from Dziewiec causes Siedem to correct himself as Carmen has shown no understanding of Mando'a.*

=Siedem=
Jedi, sorry.

*Carmen activates the holo of her father and the four men take a moment to examine it. One by one they all shake their heads, quietly telling Carmen that they haven't seen the man.*

=Dziewiec=
Perhaps thirty years ago I saw a man who resembled him, but recently? No. Believe me when I say I understand your desire not to give up, but sometimes people are just like lost credits chits - they turn up when you're not looking for them.

Re: Main Bar

*Carmen nods as she puts the holo away.*

He was a Jedi. As far as I know he could have completely thrown away the title when he left the Temple.

*Carmen frowns a bit when the men all say that they have not seen her father. They must have caught on and thought her intentions were violent; or her father had sworn them to secrecy. Honor was always something that most Mandos that she had known would have died breaking a promise. Of course, she did not know these men that well, so she did not know if they held themselves up to that high a standard.

Carmen decided to level with them. There was not much she could lose, but she could gain more information on her father.*

Okay. I am going out on a limb, and guessing that you are lying; the bartender told me that my father and you. Now if you met him, he might not have informed you of his personal life, but I am his daughter, and he is my father. I only want to find him to make sure he is okay, and keep him that way. He is not as stable as he once was. I will ask you again to please tell me what you know.

*In a shaded portion of the bar, Terrak Dakmal sits nursing a local beverage. Still irritated over a wasted job, he used what credit's he had left to douse some of his frustration in refreshing drinks. Not only was he out a payday, he was likely to be unwelcome in the Ranklinge system for some time.*

Re: Main Bar

"Rough day, cowboy?"

*The feminine voice of the server had a casual lilt to it, the kind of distant friendliness that demanded no response and promised not to engage in further conversation, unless of course the patron was looking for the excuse to vent. A chartreuse hand nimbly swept the empty glasses off the bar, then replaced them with a fresh drink, the foam barely cresting the rim.*

"This one's on the house. You look as if you could use it."

*One pale lavender eye winked, and the Mirialan slipped away to tend to another customer. There was distant conversation as the regulars struck up a conversation with the tender; what her name was, where she was from, when did she arrive on Uvena III...*

*Terrak eyes the server, she wasn't local. That was an oddity for this part of space, the Shistavanen's being known for their isolationism and dislike of strangers. Still, she seemed friendly enough, and he was still thirsty. Deciding against unnecessary curiosity, he starts on his fresh drink.*

Re: Main Bar

*Priya leaned back and began idly cleaning a glass with a dish towel. From the corner of her vision, she watched the large man at the end of the bar lift his glass. She was intimately aware of her own facial expressions, and made a point of actively responding to the conversations drifting around her. It was impossible to prevent those tiny reactions on a person's face. Far easier to cover them up through animated discussion. Easiest of all to wear a mask. She felt exposed without her body armor.

She had doubled the dose of the narcotic this time. Terrak had already consumed two of the sedated drinks and was showing no effect whatsoever. How he could still be upright, Priya wasn't sure. She hoped she wouldn't accidentally kill him here. Her instructions had been explicit. The politician would not pay her for a sloppy job.*

Re: Main Bar

*Terrak gradually becomes aware of a slight feeling of unease, quickly growing into a much stronger feeling of distress. Realizing something was horribly wrong, Terrak reaches for his sidearm and attempts to get to his feet. The straps of his side arm prove too difficult for a clean weapon draw, and Terrak begins mumbling. He recognized the symptoms of drugging or poisoning, he needed something to counter-act it or absorb it out of his system. As he tried to think this through, he realized his mind was becoming sluggish.*

Barkeep..ash..stomach is...bendy.

*Unable to finish his thoughts, he slumps back into his seat and begins to snore.*

Re: Main Bar

*Priya looked up from the glass she was cleaning, then unhurriedly set it down. She slowly sauntered over to the mumbling human and placed her hands on the bar on either side of him, leaning forward to look into his eyes. His pupils were fully dilated. Her mouth curled into a smile, her words husky.*

"Sorry cowboy...I think you've had one too many. I'd better cut you off."

*When his body fell limp, a pair of Shistavanen's at a nearby table looked up from their drinks. The Miralian waved her hand to not concern themselves with the intoxicated human, and of course, they did not. Priya slipped out from behind the bar and into the storage room to retrieve the anti-gravity unit used for unloading crates and drunkards alike.

When she slid her arms beneath his in an attempt to lift him out of his seat and onto the platform, however, she grunted in surprise at the weight. He might have been human, but he was built as solid as a machine. She kicked his chair over instead, dumping his unconscious form unceremoniously onto the unit, then tossed his helmet on top of him.

After she slipped out the back with the human, Priya never returned to the Burly Wolf to finish her shift.*

Re: Main Bar

*Siedem laughs as Carmen begins her story.*

=Siedem=
Ha! Titles have nothing to do with it. People can't stop being a jetii anymore than they can stop being Mandalorian.

==
Or a hut'uun, *one of the others interjected, causing the rest to laugh.*

=Siedem=
It isn't as simple as putting aside a lightsaber, or taking off armor. It's part of who you are.

*Dziewiec, the oldest of the four, interrupts simply by holding up his hand. Years of military training under Dziewiec and later service together mean that Siedem stops talking.*

=Dziewiec=
In a galaxy full of liars, cowards, and those only interested in credits, honesty and aliit are every bit a part of who a person is. More even than a sworn oath or the culture in which we grow up. We did speak with your father, young lady. But he revealed very little about his future plans. However, the ship that he piloted is quite uniqe and I can tell you that it left this planet only a few days ago. If you're willing, I could ask one of our senior officers to check if a flight plan was left before the departure.

*He grins a bit before his next comment.*

We've managed to work ourselves in pretty closely with the government.

*Carmen bowed her head in thanks to the man. She was surprised revealing that she had, at first, lied to them had proven the best way to get the information she needed. Not the first time, but the number of times that the truth has worked were still in the single digits.*

I would be very happy if you would ask your superior. Is there anything that I can do to repay this kindness? I am sure that we can make an arrangement, unless you are just trying to be kind and give a lady a break?

*Carmen chuckled a bit.*

Re: Main Bar

*Dziewiec, old enough to have seen his children sent off to fight, can't help but laugh a little himself at Carmen's apparent naivete. Reaching out, he taps the final member of the group on the shoulder. Osiem is the only one of the four to have his helmet on; he had been wearing it since Carmen walked over. A few quick blinks shut off the external speaker on his helmet. Most Mandalorians have mastered the art of having a raging argument on internal comms without so much as a flinch to those watching, but Osiem is relaxed at the moment. It's certainly odd to watch a man gesture like he's talking and yet not hear any sounds.*

=Siedem=
It will take some time to search through all the files and there's still the chance that the flight plan is fake or he simply never gave one. Until then, well, even honesty has its value; nothing in this galaxy is free.

*He spreads his arms wide to indicate the entire bar.*

We're pretty set for credits here. What kind of arrangement did you have in mind?

Re: Main Bar

*Carmen sighed. She knew she would not get off so lucky. She really had nothing of value besides her ship and her lightsaber. She shook her head and held up her hands. She put her hands down and sighed once more. She spoke, wording what she was saying very carefully. She reached out with her mind and tried to influence Siedem with the Force; not enough to suddenly make him give her what she wanted, but to make it easier for them to come to any agreement.*

I have but my ship and lightsaber. If its not credits that you are not interested in, perhaps you could use your own Jedi? My father taught me much before he left...My skills could be useful to you. Despite the Mandalorians' hatred for Jedi, your people and mine have been allies in the past...

=Siedem=
A Jedi of our own, eh? That may be useful, but I'd need to know how you'd react in a fight. I'm sure you can take care of yourself, but how well do you play with others? Can you make difficult decisions involving civilians, dangerous situations, danger to yourself or allies, and possible loss of life - innocent or otherwise?

=Osiem=
Basically, we need to know if you're going to go soft and end up compromising our mission over a bleeding-heart sob-story that some local spins you. If you're going to work for us, you'd better be able to follow our rules - and live with our methods.

*Siedem seems to be open to the idea of working with the Jedi. Though he doesn't know about Carmen's abilities in particular, rumors of amazing feats accomblished by the jedi still are told throughout the galaxy.*

=Siedem=
We have our own ship, but is there a chance you'd be willing to let us take a look at your lightsaber? We could do great things with technology like that. Open any door we wanted...
*he finishes with a grin.*

Re: Main Bar

*Carmen smirked and leaned forward a bit. She took a sip of her wine before speaking again.*

You must not have met many other Jedi in your lives. Not all Orders are so strict in their teachings of how to apply said teachings. I wasn't exactly taught as strictly as those either. My father was not always one to follow the exact guidelines of even those loose rules.

*Carmen unhooked her lightsaber from her belt and put it on the table.*

I will warn you all....this is my pride and joy. My mother helped me construct this when I was knighted. If my lightsaber is not returned to me in working order, as it is now, you will all find yourselves missing several of your limbs.

*Carmen kept the smirk on her face and leaned back a bit, drinking some more of her wine. She nodded her head.*

A promise....

Re: Main Bar

*A look of shock crossed Siedem's face as he realizes Carmen is going to hand over her lightsaber then and there. The other three Mandalorians quickly reach for their blasters in case Carmen has taken offense. Hostilities in such close quarters are not likely to end well for any of those involved.
The men relax as Carmen simply sets the weapon on the table. Siedem, though, waves his hands in refusal.*

=Siedem=
Right here, in front of everybody? You're not shy, are you, mesh'ika? But I'm more likely to cut off my own arm rather than learn anything useful. Tell you what - I won't even touch it. If you're willing to disassemble it for me, all I need to do is watch. That way, you know it will go back together properly.

*He smiles winningly at Carmen. Osiem will set his helmet systems to record everything if she agrees. The video will be analyzed later to see if the technology can be duplicated. If there's more mystic energy involved than science, then they might be out of luck. It would be a great advantadge.*

=Siedem=
It doesn't require any Force ability to use, does it?

Re: Main Bar

*Carmen sighed at her mistake in bringing out her lightsaber here, realizing it a little late, and her face blushed. She shook her head.*

It helps to be force sensitive. The technique to wield a lightsaber takes many years to master, even for force-sensitives.

*It took Carmen several minutes to clear her head in the cantina, not an easy task. She achieved some sort of inner piece and closed her eyes. The lightsaber on the table began to disassemble. First the hilt's panels floated away from the hilt and levitated while the rest followed suit. The inner workings of Carmen's lightsaber became clearly visible as the hilt floated apart, loosely resembling its main shape even while disassembled.

To better help her new informants, Carmen brought out the key pieces of her lightsaber from the floating mass of parts; the focusing lenses, power cell, crystals, superconductor, emitters, inert power insulator, and pommel cap. After she had fully disassembled the lightsaber, another minute ticked by before Carmen began reassembling the lightsaber in her mind. All of the pieces just seemed to click together as the hilt reformed. Carmen opened her eyes and took her lightsaber off of the table and back on her belt.*

You have been given a rare opportunity. Much easier than just killing a Force user for their lightsaber, wasn't it? Now...back to your end of the deal.....

*Carmen held her breath. If she had been tricked, she would not hesitate to conduct justice as she saw fit on these men.*

=Siedem=
Relax. Nobody here has any reason to hate the jedi. I can speak for the other patrons as well; Uvena III is a bit of a backwater. In fact, you may be the first jedi to come here. Ever.

*Osiem's recording of the lightsaber disassembly and reassembly is coded and sent to the more technologically-inclined Mandalorians on-planet. Hopefully, they can make sense of it. Almost on cue, a datapacket is sent from the Uvena III planetary traffic control containing a course trajectory and possible destinations for a ship matching a Delaya-class hyperdrive rating. Osiem transfers the data to a small, removable, storage unit and slides it across the table to Carmen.*

=Osiem=
For you, courtesy of the Uvena III Department of Planetary and Interstellar Travel, Division of Exports and Departures. I believe it contains the information you are seeking.

Re: Main Bar

That is besides my Father, of course?

*Carmen took the storage unit with a raised eyebrow. She smiled and took out her own datapad, connecting the two devices and looking at the information on it. She put the datapad back on her belt.*

But there is no way of knowing for sure if this ship was his? I know that the ship he uses is an outdated model, and few use it, but there is still the chance that this is not him.

*Carmen drank the last bit of her wine and set the glass down. After a few moments a waitress came around and took up the glass. She nodded her head in thanks then returned her attention back to Siedem.*

But I suppose a lead is better than nothing. I thank you for your help. Is that all?

Of course. Though he was a bit more discreet. Some of us did not even recognize him as a jedi.

His ship is more... unique, than merely outdated. There was only one in the registry matching its description.

No, that is quite alright. I will be taking this and my leave to continue my search. I may just return one day, perhaps with my Father, and we can repay this favor further.
