Re: Main Entrance/Landing Pads

*A turbolift direct from the command center whisks up to the main enterance and opens, revealing Colonel Syke and his aide, Sergeant Venner. The guards snap to attention Sykes walks by, except for the droids. The two walk over to a special pad, which is actually a blast door in the ground. It opens, and a pad with a modified J-1 shuttle whirs up. The ramp automatically opens, and the two step inside. A moment later, it blasts away.*

Re: Main Entrance/Landing Pads

*A group of guards carrying a set of armor and weapons whisk out of the turbolift. Walking in formation, they board the ramp of a J-1 shuttle, which has a crewed Scythe-class Space Superiority Fighter in it's hold. The shuttle warms up its engines and heads for space.*

Re: Main Entrance/Landing Pads

*Troops set up defensive positions around the base entrances; only the highest level personnel are allowed in or out. The doors are locked down, and the troops and droids outside will fight to the death.*

Re: Main Entrance/Landing Pads

*Finally, Colonel Sykes and Corporal Venner arrive at the top of the base, right behind the main enterance. They are greeted with the muzzles of hundreds of weapons. One of the upgraded droids comes over and takes Sykes's readings; they come out positive.*

=Colonel Sykes=
Rosie.

*The droid backs away, and a handful of KPDF internal security officers walk over and salute.*

=Private Helms=
Good to see you, sir. we have a priority beta situation: a news station caught the attacks on film and broadcasted them planet-wide. We've got a protest group marching towards the base, 20 klicks outside the restricted zone.

=Colonel Sykes=
Great. Get me a Scorpion Gunship-make it unarmed. And assemble a reaction squad.

=Private Helms=
Yessir.

Re: Main Entrance/Landing Pads

*A Scorpion gunship rockets back into the base's landing zone and touches down, the defenses tracking it all the way. The main door opened before it came to a complete stop, and Sykes vaulted out of it, followed by Venner. Sprinting as fast as he could for the base, he is joined in his run by a slightly disheveled Private Helms, the same KPDF Internal Security Officer that greeted him when he emerged from the command center.*

=Colonel Sykes=
Sitrep!

=Private Helms=
Two Acclamtor IIIs on a crash course for the shipyard, we are attacking with all available weapons.

=Colonel Sykes=
Damn. I need to get down to the command center right away...private, what's your name?

=Private Helms=
Allan Helms, sir.

=Colonel Sykes=
Corporal Venner, you're now Major Venner. Helms, you have a career change and a promotion to corporal. You ever been to the command center?

=Corporal Helms=
Yes sir, I was there last week. But I don't have the codes to get in-

=Colonel Sykes=
I do. Droid!

*The upgraded Storm Commando Droid stiffened at being addressed like that, but nevertheless turned to face him.*

=Colonel Sykes=
Midnight. They're with me.

*The droid nodded, and the colonel, major, and corporal stepped into the center turbolift and were dropped down a level.*

Re: Main Entrance/Landing Pads

*A turbolift containing Sykes, Venner and Helms arrives at a side enterance/exit near a landing pad.*

=Major Venner=
Since we haven't been stopped and shot, I think we're in the clear.

=Colonel Sykes=
As assumptions go, that'd be a fair one. Armor off. Abandon the AMFs, but take out your sidearms.

*The three officers quickly shed their armor, and dropped the large rifles, but each withdrew a sidearm of some type. Sykes had his HPS in his right hand, and punched in a code to open the small door to the outside with his left. It started to open with a hiss, and he put his left hand back on his pistol. The door swung open, revealing an abandoned landing pad. Sykes stepped out, sweeping his gun around to cover the surrounding area, and motioned for Venner and Helms to follow.*

=Corporal Helms=
Sir, what do we want with a abandoned pad?

*Sykes took out another remote and clicked it once, then replaced it in a pocket. The base of the pad opened up, and what looked to be a heavily modified Heavy Scythe transport was carried to ground level on a lift.*

=Colonel Sykes=
That bird's modified for a lot of extra speed. We're heading up to Devurin's ship.

*Sykes walked to the loading ramp, found a keypad on the outside, and typed in a code; the ramp lowered.*

=Colonel Sykes=
All aboard.

*Venner and Helms boarded the transport, and they lifted off, with the Storm II as their destination.*

Re: Main Entrance/Landing Pads

*Colonel Yupkik is among the last of the last of the staff from the base to evacuate. Most people are going up in the Acclamator III or one of the twenty Leo transports that landed, but the command staff have their own Heavy Scythe.*

=Captain Nottor=
Sir, everyone's cleared out.

=Colonel Yupkik=
Good.

*Yupkik pulled out a datapad with the schematics of the base on it, with red dots showing all the charges. The colonel pushed a button mounted to the side of the datapad, and the red dots vanished. No explosions could be heard from up here, but it was a safe bet everything had been wiped or eliminated.*

=Colonel Yupkik=
Does the lockdown system still work?

=Captain Nottor=
Yes sir. It's heavily EMP-proofed.

*Yupkik tapped a few buttons on the datapad, locking down the base. For someone to get down levels, they would need to present passwords and ID scans to droids that weren't even there. Of course, there would be other ways to get down, but it would not be easy.
Once the main doors slammed together, a team of droids worked for about half an hour to melt them shut. Once done, everyone boards a ship, which lifts off, leaving Kothlis behind.*
