Re: Open Terrain

*A single thickly haired eyebrow quirked ironically as Menlas returned,* "Quite the opposite. I am the Ranking member of a nearby Jedi Enclave that oversees the security and justice of this world. You, in fact, are the intruder."

*Glancing over towards the crate that had impacted into the soft grass covered ground of the plains, Arn saw it was beat to all hell and that it had large gashes torn into one side where the kill-bot had recovered a weapon. There were, ostensibly, more within.*

*As the droid pulled his blaster, which Arn recognized as those carried by the troopers who'd hunted Jedi during the dark years, the old soldier swiftly slid his right hand into his robes at the waist and held it there, as if he were ready to draw a weapon of his own, but had yet to commit.*

*The rain fell harder as the wind whipped up, lightning beginning to flash more frequently as the thunderous booms crashed louder and louder.*

*Shouting over the noise, Menlas queried,* "What help do you require?!"

Re: Open Terrain

*Wordlessly, the droid nodded his head towards the interior of the craft, and marched into the dark CR90's bowels.*

"Elly, lights. Arn, bring the crate."

*Neither were requests.*

Re: Open Terrain

*The hologram of Vila focused her three-eyed gaze at the droid, then shimmered, reforming herself back into the young woman clad in casual clothing.*

"Actually, it's LE-03. But there's work to do."

*Her avatar disappeared then, and at irregular intervals along the corridors, light strips came on, flickering softly, some brighter than others. The ship was poorly maintained, and the lights were a part of that non-maintenance. Where there were stretches without any functioning light strips at all, the holoprojectors embedded in the walls and ceiling shone out, compensating for the lights by illuminating patches of the ship's interior.*

Re: Open Terrain

*Menlas, feeling the weight of his robes and the chill of the wind upon his soaked figure, silently accepted even as he withdrew the slim hilt of a matte black lightsaber detailed in silvery chrome.

Taking a deep breath, the veteran Force user concentrated and lifted the crate from the ground with his mind and floated it towards the entrance ramp, slowly walking behind it.*

*His ribs were beginning to ache and the shotgun burns along his shoulders flared painfully, but Menlas needed to understand how this ship, this hologram, perhaps even this metal servitor (though it was beginning to seem the droid was no mere servant) connected with his past.*

*Carefully walking up the ramp, Arn floated the crate within before setting it down before moving to stand just inside the ship, only a step away from the ramp.

Now standing within, Arn finally did give a slight bow forward, towards where the walkway appeared and remarked,*
"Greetings Elly-oh-three, may I come on board?"

Re: Open Terrain

*Passing into the room holding the computer core several hundred meters into the ship, KR-04 came across a broken monitor, catching something in its reflection. His black Jedi-esque tunic had been torn by the sharp corners of the box, ripping apart not only the tunic, but cutting a huge gash in the synthetic skin covering his endoskeleton, revealing the dark gray neuranium chassis beneath. And on the right side of his face, a large portion of his cheek skin was re-liquefied by the crate's impact in that area.*

*With a quick but methodical swipe, the albino splotch was suddenly replaced with white metal teeth, actuators, and a dark metal cheekbone.*

*Now looking at the proper terminal, the droid stood there and waited for the other two.*

Re: Open Terrain

"I can't very well stop you, can I?"

*Her hologram reappeared two meters in front of him, a slight smile on her face. A small pulse ran through her emotional subroutines, pride in her creator at what she was about to say.*

"You can call me Elly, though. My full designation is Life Emulator Unit 03. LE-03. Whimsical nomenclature on my creator's part."

Finally. Finally...

"If you don't mind, though, we are in a bit of a rush. Follow me."

*She turned on her heel and began walking down the corridors, towards the computer core.*

*****

*Her avatar could appear anywhere on the ship simultaneously, and so it came as no surprise when her image formed in the air by the entrance to the computer core.*

"He's on his way."

*Try as she might, she couldn't keep all of the excitement she felt out of her voice..*

"Lead him here. Explain the process."

*With that, KR-04 turned back the way he came, intent on collecting and inspecting his new weaponry. He did not see the point in doing things himself if he could have the Jedi do them.*

[Narration]The sense of dread Menlas felt did not diminish and he had tried his best to stay off this ship, for entering it, surrendering his safety within it's metal belly, was simply unwise. Additionally, Elly-oh-three's ignoring of the advanced droid on board was disturbing. Arn felt there may be much between the two AI's that he didn't even begin to comprehend.*

*Taking a deep breath, his soaked robes and hair dripping water all over the deck so that a small puddle was beginning for form beneath him, Menlas began to follow the hologram; his lightsaber still held in hand, though he'd folded his arms within the heavy yet still roomy sleeves of his robes; obscuring them.

As he advanced down the shabby halls, the old soldier wondered aloud,*
"I always figured droid patience was endless; what are you in a rush to complete, Elly-oh-three?"

Re: Open Terrain

"Patience is infinite. Time is not."

*KR-04 barely made a motion to avoid the Jedi as he strode back towards the entry ramp, not even bothering to move out of the way for the hologram. Arn was by no means a welcome presence, and as soon as he did his part, the droid would see to it that he was removed from the ship one way or another.

For the sake of security, the droid was holding out for "another".*

Re: Open Terrain

*Menlas took a reflexive step backwards as the hulking droid appeared again from down the corridor and stepped directly through LE-03; it's half death's face grinning from within torn flesh giving the old soldier pause. He was no expert, but he'd never seen a model like the one before him. Arn resolved to keep a distance of no fewer than 3 meters between them at all times.*

*Still, Arn kept his cool as he retreated and replied to the hollow voiced bot,* "Surprising, I've never before met a pair of AI's who seemed to be in such a rush... that it resembled impatience. Explain what you wish of me, if you please."

"Oh, his rush isn't the same as mine. He's focused on the long term. Me?"

*She turned around and began walking backwards along the hallways, facing the Jedi while she spoke.*

"I've been inside this ship for near a decade now, and more than half of that has been spent alone. Completely alone.. And now I finally have the means to leave. Another being, someone capable of physical manipulation. That's all I need to escape the Revenant.

"That's where you come in."

*A half-smile spread across her face, an expression her creator had actually picked up from her brother..*

"Think about it. Think about how fast my mind moves, in comparison to organic life. Now think about six years of solitude for quicklife like me... You can understand, I want out. I want back in the body that Eliana Shan left for me."

Re: Open Terrain

*KR-04 finally reached the still-open entryway, the storm now completely over them. So completely, in fact, that his boot heels were underwater, as was a small portion of the crate's underside. Stopping only to seal the airlock, the droid lifted the crate and marched it down the hall, retracing his steps back to his self-made bunk near the bridge.

One DC-17m, with all attachments accounted for. One Relby-v10 grenade launcher. One BlasTech Light Repeating Blaster. And the DC-15s pistol was already accounted for. The three guns were laid out on top, in a small box. Lifting it, there were clips. Shells. In general, enough ammunition to wage half a war.*

"Excellent."

"Oh, it will still work. I won't appear to you like this anymore, because the Revenant will be run off of a simple 'dumb' computer, for lack of a better term. It'll just be a spin-off of myself, nothing too complex.. relatively speaking, of course."

*To be perfectly honest, she wasn't sure that the Revenant's onboard computer systems would matter anymore at this point. She didn't believe that the craft was spaceworthy anymore, and if the droid insisted that they attempt liftoff again..

Well, she wanted to be in a body that would withstand the probable crash.*

Re: Open Terrain

*It took a short while for KR-04 to bring himself back to standard.

For starters, he had to reapply the missing synthetic tissue from the barrels near the box. The damage was not severe; the nanites in the alabaster liquid made "Aherk Fayar" look as good as new within four minutes.

Another step the droid had to take was in the wardrobe department; no self-respecting Jedi would be walking around in a tunic with a gaping hole in the center. No Jedi would be walking around without a lightsaber either, to say nothing of being armed to the teeth. So, as logic dictated, KR-04 ditched the robes, trading them out for a light gray shirt, not at all dissimilar from the robes worn by the unwelcome guest on board the Revenant. A belt, several straps and holsters, and another two minutes later, "Aherk Fayar" looked no different than any other well-armed Human mercenary.

Finalizing his disguise, KR-04 stood and waited for the other two next to the black box. Seemingly completely out of character for the stoic killing machine, he spoke to nobody in particular.*

"The Jedi is a liability. He must be killed."

*Her avatar reappeared outside of the room with the black box; her holoprojectors couldn't reach inside.*

"Oh, I know. It's a shame, really. It's the first conversation I've had with an organic lifeform in over six years."

*She didn't really care whether he lived or died at this point, as long as she got what she wanted: out. Anything she could do to hurry up the process, she would. And past that, she wanted into Na'an's head. Life and death held no import to her: she had no connection with anyone anymore..*

Re: Open Terrain

*KR-04, as was the norm over the past few hours, did not respond to Elly's lament. There would be others for her. A galaxy full of them. None of whom, unlike the unfortunate Jedi, would know her true nature unless she herself chose to reveal it. So, logically, Elly's whining fell upon deaf audio receivers.*

"I require a status report on the ship."

*While waiting for the construct to respond, KR-04 rechecked his weapons, ensuring each component and blaster was ready. It never hurt to be ready.*

"I doubt she'll survive another liftoff. She's been drifting for a while, and she hasn't been maintained at all. Landing on Corellia was bad enough. Lifting off from there, landing here.. She'd need a complete overhaul before I'd feel safe taking off again. Especially in this weather."

*She had a point. It was doubtful, but still possible, before. But now, with all the turbulence provided by the raging storm overhead, attempting to take off would most likely result in the ship being torn apart..*

*They were nearing the chamber with the black box, though Menlas didn't know it yet.*

"Activate the distress beacon."

*KR-04's CPU was always in motion, and even now he was planning his next move in pursuit of his target. The distress beacon would undoubtedly bring about some hapless helper with a landspeeder, providing transport towards a township or city nearby, if the weather did not stop them...*
