*As Valek walked through the swamp his comlink kept beeping.*

Come on, if these guys are seriously worried about a lone little 16 year old apprentice, I would hate to see what My masters would do to them.

*Valek continued to answer the comms, turning the comlink to vibrate, so that he could still hunt, without the beeping scaring any prey.*

Re: Open Terrain

Hoooooollllllyyyyyyyyyy kriiiiiiifffffffffffff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Valek burst back through the fog heading towards his ship, eight marsh haunts close on his tail. As Valek ran towards the ship, he reached out with the force, flinging tiny branches, and pebbles at the keypad, punching in the numbers to open the hatch.

Valek reached the ship just as the hatch opened and the ramp hit the ground, jumping into the ship. The boy landed on his stomach, spinning to his back as a Marsh Haunt closed in, starting up the ramp. The boy drew on the centered anger and focus he had, extending his arms, he let out a massive force push, sending the Marsh Haunts tumbling back. The one on the ramp taking the brunt of the attack, its peeling skin ripped completely off. Valek jumped to his feet, pressing the swicth to close the hatch and ramp. The second the two locked shut, Valek was in the pilots seat.

Outside the ship the Marsh Haunts had recovered and were back on their feet, clamouring towards the ship. Inside, Valek was frantically trying to find the activation card to start the ship, it unfortunatly was on the ground, just beside where the ramp was, having fallen out as he jumped in.*

Kriff! What now. Come on think. I know!

*The boy closed his eyes, and centered himself, drawing on the anger and rage he had deep down inside him. This time, Valek allowed the force energy in his body to reach out around the ship finding the wires needed to hotwire the ship.

The Marsh Haunts began to climb over the ship, trying to get at Valek. The ships engine, roaring to life, disintergrating two of the Haunts. The Shuttle lifted off, headed to orbit, another Haunt, falling from the ship. The ship picked up speed as Valek slammed the throttle forward.*

What the hell were those things.

*Far from the outskirts of Jericho or the nearest township a handful of soldiers emerge from the rugged and dense bush-lands, heading back to their home, at least a days trek out of Jericho, they are tired, hunger and hurting. Soldiering on, most of the men carry each other, rations had dried up days ago and exhaustion was rife among the men. As the hot sun sets behind the distant horizon the CO lets out a sigh of relief, under the cool night sky he and his men will be able to make it most of the way back to Jericho before they will have to make camp...*

Re: Open Terrain

*Finding shelter amongst some trees bordering farmland the troops find a soft piece of dirt. It was well into the night and the had travelled a great distance since their last rest needless to say as soon as most of the men had laid down they were asleep, not the CO though, he was still contemplating the past weeks events, how could everything have gone so wrong? Who was to blame? Was it all his fault?...*<< What was to be a routine black op, as routine as black ops get, high altitude insertion several hundred click inside hostile territory, half a days trek to their objective and wait for a go ahead from the team that would evac them home. The target was an insurgent stronghold, CO had became part of a special taskforce that would go about subduing and eliminating any and all terrorist and insurgent activities across Abraxin. The team was all ready to strike, all they needed was the go ahead from the evac team and they were set. As a contingency the execution date was set several days after insertion, allowing for proper set up and allowing to deal with any surprises, however as that date drew nearer the CO began to become anxious, the evac team usually sent reports updating evac points and confirmation of the mission's go ahead. The day before the assassination was to be made there was still no contact with the evac team, not wanting to fail the mission, the CO devised his own evacuation plan that would safely see his men out of the region. On the morning of the next day the evac team still hadn't reported in the CO persisted that the mission must go on despite the set back. With that his team moved out. The reason for the urgency was that intel had it that many of the terrorist high command was meeting, giving the perfect opportunity to strike the insurgents hard. The plan was to destroy the convoy transporting the commanders and eliminate the leader during the chaos afterwards. Set up on two separate ridges the demolition squad would take charge of destroying the convoy and then drawing enemy fire as the sniper squad would locate and eliminate the leader then any hostile fire. As the convey came into range the demolition team, using rocket launchers were able to destroy the lead and tail transports blocking all the others from escaping, then methodically began destroying the rest of the transports. All was going to plan half the convoy was destroyed the CO and his team were searching for the insurgent leader in the stronghold, until all of a sudden small arms fire could be heard between the large explosions, the demo squad had been ambushed, ordering half of his squad to fire any hostile ambushing the demo squad the CO knew his position had been compromised and it was only a matter of time before his squad would be drawing fire from the hostile forces below. Sure enough moments later the hiss of passing projectiles and the whirls of laser fire shot past the CO's ears, the rest of the squad had started defending their position leaving the task of locating the leader to the CO. As the hostile drew near soldiers started retreating pulling with them the wounded. Just as the CO was being pulled away he spotted his target dodging through the various transports housed within the stronghold, without a clear shot the CO pulled the trigger of his rifle, smoke engulfing the target... >>*Suddenly the CO is snapped back to reality even though his armour he could still feel the warmth of the hand that wrapped around his waist, turning around he sees her, so much had changed in the last few month, their relationship built, with so much destruction around them was remarkable. The only reason it was even allowed by their superiors was due to the proven fact that somehow fighting together made them both stronger on the battlefield, a constant reminder of what they were fighting for...*

*Overhead, the sounds of a whirling noise could be heard. With a whish, a Wargerbil streaked overhead, scanning the thick underbrush of the Siruis forest. A communication on Ranger frequencies was being sent.*
:: This is Eaglehawk to Harbinger; Harbinger, do you read? Mission success has been confirmed, we're here to take you boys home. Come in harbinger. ::
*Another Wargerbil passed overhead, it's bays opened and Ranger's hanging out the sides, scanning for friendlies.*

*It was the break of day, several of the men were starting to wake up, the CO had been awake the whole night, he had been through a lot in his time but this was something different, the scars ran deep, only on the brink of death and by the sacrifice of many fine soldiers were this small handful of Rangers were where they were today...Suddenly a small ticking noise could be heard, muffled static all around the camp, most of the electronic gear had practically been destroyed due to an EMP bomb saboteurs attached to the transports used during the retreat. For the past month or so all they had been getting though there com-links were static. Picking up his helmet the CO could hear the static more definite, it didn't sound like the stuff you'd hear from interference, there was pauses and pitch to it...someone was trying to contact them, dropping he helmet the CO rushed to his kit finding one of the last smoke grenades he sprints out into the open suddenly a Wargerbil brushes the tree tops as it flies past, instantly I pop the grenade and drop it, the hissing smoke surrounds me as it rises slowly into the air, by now the rest of the troops are standing on the edge of the clearing in bewilderment. Shortly after we are all onboard heading home...*

*As 'Harbinger' was loaded onto the almost empty Wargerbil, the other circled overhead. Over the radio, the other one could be heard contacting Jericho.*
:: Command, this is Eaglehawk Blue, Harbinger is secure. Moving out of the AO now, and heading back to base now. Requesting clearance to enter restricted airspace. ::
*The pilot of the Wargerbil was speaking to his co-pilot, and a Ranger, a Sergeant Major turned to the commander of the squad, codenamed Harbinger. He shifted his Lynx out of the way, and tapped the Gunnery Sergeants helmet.*
=Sergeant Major=
"Good work Harbinger. I'm sorry about your losses, but we all have to do what we have to do. We'll be back in Jericho in 40 minutes, and you'll be able to relax, take a break from this. I know it's been hard on you. We have some bad news though..."

Sir, with all due respect is there something your not telling me? Is there something out there that I should have come a little more prepared for? I want the truth, you at least owe me that after everything we've been through...

:: You'll be prepared enough. Take this. It's going to be rough, early reports are bad... ::
*As Hudson placed a BAR in Jete's hands, as a second weapon to use, a screeching was heard, and a muffled explosion could be heard. A tree thudding on the ground was heard just after, and the .50 cal started firing, single shot.*

Where are we going Sir? I thought you said this was a morale trip?

Re: Open Terrain

*The sound of fighting on the comms was heard, and inaudible screaming. A strange noise could be heard in the background, and a flak gun could be heard, its shots hitting something close to it. Hudson cocked the BAR in his hands, the light machine guns clip feeding into a side pouch.*

=Hudson=
:: We're going to Alpha Site, like I said...just left out one small detail... ::

*A weird humming noise was heard, and a second later the lead Kaigor's tire exploded as an apparent bomb blew up next to it. It skidded out of control, and crashed into the ditch next to the highway. The Kaigor's sped up, the men bailing from their downed transport and hoofing it on foot. The drivers followed behind, sidearms in hand. Whatever was going on, it was huge. A buzzing noise was heard, similar to the humming, and a tinking was heard on the front of Hudson's Kaigor. With a shout, the pilot grabbed the female copilot next to him and dove backwards into the troop bay.*

*The cockpit exploded, sending fire spurting across the cockpit sideways. The men stared in surprise, and the Kaigor started speeding up, the pedal melted down on the floor. The drop door was opened via manual handle, and the general looked around.*

:: =Hudson=
Jump! And may the gods have mercy on us all!!
::

*The Ranger's started jumping from the door, as the Kaigor stared veering. Hudson grabbed the woman in his arms and strapped her to the front of his armour. He nodded to Jete and the pilot to jump, then bailed himself, a shield flaring as he bounced and rolled, leaving the woman unharmed. The other Kaigors had veered off the road, and were unloading, the men moving up towards the General.*

That's a mighty big small detail...

Rangers, form up, 5 by 6 formation, keep a 20 meter spread! Heavies to the front, grunts to the center, snipers towards the rear! I want 10 heavies on rear detail, and someone tell our airsupport to get us some GOD DAMN cover!
::

*As the Ranger's moved into their positions and started moving up the road towards Alpha Site, which was only about 5 kilometers down the road, a comm tech was raising the Wargerbils overhead. Comms were being jammed, but they were just on the edge of it, so it wasn't affecting them too bad.*

:: =Hudson=
Jete, your with me, scout detail. We'll be partrolling the edge of the highway, watching for any ambushes or hostile forces incoming on the platoon.

*The men marched onward, some 5000 strong on the main highway, a sea of Rangers. A little less, around 500, were patrolling the outskirts of the highway, Hudson, Jete, and others among them.*

Re: Open Terrain

*As Hudson moved through the brush with Jete, he commed him privately again, and linked to three other Rangers. The sounds of various small arms fire was heard, as the Ranger's forged on towards Alpha Site.*

{Private Communication to Zulu Squad}
:: Alright boys, we've got a side mission that needs doing. None of you have been briefed yet, so I'll make it short. RoE is simple, fire at will, and don't mistake anything that's not friendly on the FoF tags as friendly, everything you see out here can and will be hostile, you can be damn sure of that. ::

*They split from the main force, another squad on their six, and hoofed it silently into the bush, scanning all around for activity. The storm was getting worse, and it almost looked like blood raining from the sky...*

:: Our objective, as a few of you have asked, is simple right now; retake Hill 42, overlooking Alpha from the west. It's completely in enemy hands, and secondary reports show no survivors. Our target is quite dangerous. There's a massive, I repeat, MASSIVE, force in the area. The Belarians, the local populace didn't take kindly to our 'intrusion', and have taken it to a bloody genocide on our civilian and military forces. Innocents and Rangers are dying, our people are dying. We're all that could be mustered this quickly, but forces will be coming in soon. We're the spearhead of the Jungle Storm Initiative. Get cocked, get locked, and get ready to be rocked boys. This ones gonna be a screamer! ::

*Hudson raised his BAR quickly and unloaded onto a tree as he finished, and a furry, screaming figure fell, blood trickling after. It thudded on the ground and was shot as it tried standing up by a Ranger in the front. It's weapon, a plasma based assault rifle, dropped from it's now lifeless hands. The sounds of screeching around them could be heard, and the second squad quickly moved into defense positions with them.*

Re: Open Terrain

*Movement all around lit up as they were surrounded by hundreds of the things. The Ranger's flipped logs and anything they could as cover in the small clearing, and it soon became a steady stream of gunfire, as they took turns firing and reloading. Plasma came sailing back in turn, and pretty soon Belarian bodies were littered everywhere. One Ranger was lying in the center, several plasma burns on his stomach having caused him to bleed out after quite some time. Another was lying next to him, his arm's armour scorched through. He was screaming in pain, still quite alive, but his mic had been shut off, so it was faint. The medic tended to him as Hudson shifted next to Jete and the two next to him.*

:: Fire a salvo of HE-50's on my mark, in 3... ::

*Hudson loaded a round in, and the other two started the same. The Belarians seemed to be moving towards a large charge on them, towards Jete's side. The Ranger's on the other side started ceasing fire, as the last of their targets were mowed down.*

:: BAR's take side points, sniper team at a range, all others to the log! Final rush, they're throwing everything at us!! Take as many as you can with you! ::

*Hudson's weapons were on the ground, laid out, and he checked the last of his BAR's ammo. A single clip, 5 clips for his Lynx and a double clip for his sidearm. The Ranger's prepped for a final stand as the FoF tags went balistic with numerous markers. The flurry of their numbers could be seen, as their high pitched screeching reached an unfathomable level.*
