*A cut-glass sat on the desk, a golden liquid resting inside it, currently untouched, but the decanter nearby wasn't so lucky, it had almost been drained and had been placed there full only earlier that day. The hand that now grabbed the glass trembled slightly as it raised the liquid to the woman's lips, her nails chipped and broken, her eyes red with blood.
Risi had been better.
Letting the hot liquid scold her throat she let the glass fall back heavily to the desk, her eyes scouring the datapads in front of her, looking for some sign, some answers amongst the data and starcharts. Nothing. Always nothing. A knock sounded at her study door, before she answered (not that she would have bothered) a female officer entered, her neat black uniform showing her form off well, in a better mood Risi may have taken more notice of this. Striding through the room she paused in front of the chair that Risi sprawled into, to her credit she didn't show any visible sign of Risi's state and after a formal bow she looked at a point just above Risi's head as she passed over another datapad to her Matriarch.*
=Estelle=
"Your highness, that is the latest report from the Unknown Regions, there is no further trace of your Father, we cannot find where the ships that left Bassadro went. I'm sorry. I wish I could offer better news."
*Risi didn't answer straight away, her mind drifting back to Bassadro, the explosion that had ripped through the fortress in the mountains, she had been lucky that she had gone out in a rage from the way Flagg had spoken to her, she was outside the walls when it blew. Standing up she walked unsteadily to the window of her study, looking out at the star filled sky, wondering where her Father could possibly be as she saw only her reflection staring back. She hadn't been far enough away, her left cheek now bore a long white scar from the shrapnel cutting into her, under her clothes was more reminders of that day. Her pilot had found her unconscious in the ruins, drenched in her own blood, he had tried to save her and unfortunately for Risi he had suceeded.*
"Its not you that should be saying sorry Estelle, it is us, we are the failure, the one that lost all that mattered in our life. He wouldn't take us with him because we were a failure when all we desired was to serve. But we will prove ourselves worthy, one day we will be at his side again, his true Princess."
*Her voice was hoarse, cracking as the words came out and the tears fell fresh across her cheeks. The pilot had been punished for his mistake, she knew you could never trust males and now she had a permanent reminder of that lapse on her face. Waving her hand in dismissal, she heard Estelle leaving the room but didn't turn from the stars.*
"Why did you leave us? We would have done anything for you! We loved you Father! Please come back for us!"
*The cry was that of a girl for father, not a Matriarch for her King, it pleaded with the stars that hid her Father from her, but they looked back with ice in their eyes rather than the fire that burned within them. Falling to the floor sobbing she pulled her knees up to her chin and curled into a ball, her head resting against the cold plate of transparisteel.*
