Re: Shelter

*The intelligence networks were quiet. Empire-wide, the threat of war seemed to be dimming. There were the constant Darknight campaigns and their backlashes, but the Mandalorian Empire herself kept a distance from the actions of the independent mercenaries that lived within her territory. Clan Ordinii officials monitored these reports closely, but they did not send material assistance for any of the current campaigns. Senior military advisors privately wondered of this mercenary fringe of the Mando'ade was out of control, but they did not dare to publicly voice their opinions. Still, reports were sent to Mand'alor as always.*

Re: Shelter

*Mandalorian intelligence picks up another high profile report from one of their more senior intelligence operatives, warning of a new threat against the Empire. Hundreds of such threats are made very day, and so there is no great alarm, but when the word assassination is included, it always does rate as a matter of some importance. A high profile intelligence dispatch is forwarded over the secure Clan Ordinii to Plu Ordinii on Manda'yaim, detailing the allegations but also providing a cautionary analysis that threat was not believed to be all that serious or credible.*

*An intelligence transmission is received from Fresia. But no! This is not intel, this is spam.... someone has hacked the Ordinii Holonet..... the Mandalorian on duty growls and pulls the headset away from his ears as he fumbles with the controls in front of him, desperate to shut the thing off, but at the same time not forgetting his training in the need to track down the source of this unfortunate and highly impermissible breach of Mando'ade security.*

Re: Shelter

*The intelligence chief nodded to himself, satisfied and ever a bit impressed. Yes, his operatives had hunted down the source of the security breach, located the hacker behind it, made him and all of his cronies disappear, and completely covered their tracks. That was normal. But they had gone one step farther this time, and come away with a vast collection of data on darknet operatives and slicing techniques from all over this half of the Outer Rim. He smiled, a small cruel smile. This was going to be fun. This was going to be a lot of fun.*

Re: Shelter

*The intelligence nerve center of the Ordinii continues to buzz with activity, both of the electronic sort, and of the physical, starships-coming-in-with-spies-on-board variety. The progress of a dozen separate missions is being tracked at any one time, and the location of a half dozen or more Ordinii naval fleets. All in all, for such a backwater, unknown location, there was a lot happening. But unless you were right on top of it, you would never even know it was there, for sensor readouts taken this close to the black hole cluster were almost impossible to decipher accurately, and the mass of even a star destroyer was irrelevant compared to the shifting gravatic fields that surrounded the Maw. It was a dangerous, inaccessible place to operate, offering safety to the Ordinii, but even they were not immune it its dangers, either. It was the tradeoff they had all agreed to make.*

Re: Shelter

*Intelligence Agent 30027 had had about enough of the bad tricks and tomfoolery that her field agents had perpetuated. Hearing a wookiee sing Christmas carols was not intelligence, it was spam. Wasting valuable time decoding it from some garbled tape send in by an agent was a dereliction of duty of the highest order in the mind of the primp and proper supervisor. If only she could figure out WHO was sending in these fraudulent reports, she would be sure it went on the personnel records. But alas, her own anonymity system was coming back to bite her --- someone under her had found a way to cover his tracks not just from outsiders, but even from his fellows.*

Re: Shelter

*Intelligence Agent 30027 stared at the results that scrolled across her screen as the lastest test of the new crosschecking algorithm for her secured messaging system, and her jaw slowly began to drop. Closing it hastily, she smiled -- broadly. Finally, she had a solution for verifying the origin of a message without compromising her agent or their undercover status. There was no direct one-to-one corellation between a message and the flags it threw, but her under-performing agents, or the ones who fed false or joke information, would eventually be tagged by the system, and reported to the correct superiors. Two-Seven herself would have no way to see the information, or know who had been reprimanded, but the test signatures showed that a feedback system on the anonymous layer could work.*

*That justified a celebration. Two-Seven pushed back her chair, uncurled from her hunched position, and almost sprinted from the room, in the direction of the break room and the steaming hot caf that would soothe her exhausted body.*

Re: Shelter

=Agent 30027=
*Clucthing a steaming mug of caf, the wiley intelligence agent made a more sedate and round-about return trip to her secured office. Taking a detour, she headed in the direction of one of the large viewports that opened out towards the Maw Cluster itself, providing a stunningly beautiful and majestic backdrop that had no rival anywhere in the Mandalorian world. The Maw was a unique thing, immensely powerful, yet beautiful. The black holes themselves were invisible, blotting out great black patches in the star field, but beyond the total reaches of the massive gravity wells, one could see streams of charged particles glowing as they streamed towards the gravity masses. Depending on the interstellar winds, these could be quite colorful, or very dull. Today, they were alive with oranges and yellows, and an occasional green streak. Two-Seven smiled, slid into a lounge chair, and sipped her caf slowly, savoring each tiny, energizing sip.*

Re: Shelter

*There was a ripple as a small starighter shot out of hyperspace and cautiously approached the unstable Maw Cluster. Acting on detailed Or'dinii data saved to his navicomputer and activated with a special password, Tracyn Or'dinii piloted his Besu'liik along one of the only safe paths through the massive gravity fields. He needed only to reach Shelter Station, the communications hub at the edge of the cluster, and so he did not take the long, dark route to the Maw Installation. Instead, he signaled Shelter station.*

:: Shelter Station, this is Tracyn Or'dinii requesting shield deactivation and clearance land. I need to speak with an agent in person. Aliit'alor's business. ::

:: Confirmed and approved, ner'vod. Please proceed to level 7, bay 34. Security will meet you there. ::

:: Thank you. Beginning my approach now. Tracyn out. ::

*With a slight twist of his wrists, he sent the fighter plunging down and to the left, then threaded it through the illuminated magcon doorway into the bowels of the station. Dropping the fighter onto a landing platform, he looked around, waiting for direction from the station's security forces.*

*Fifteen minutes later, Tracyn had cleared security, and was ushered into a spartan, soundproofed office. Inside were two chairs, a desk, and a computer terminal. A young woman sat at a desk in one of the chairs, and she looked up in surprise when the turquoise-clad Mando entered. She nodded politely, a look of recognition on her face. She knew who he was, even if he did not know her from anyone.*

=Agent 30027=
"I know who you are, and I can deduce who sent you. You should not ask who I am, but simply ask for the information you need. All Aliit Ori'dinii intelligence is at my fingertips." *She paused, and smile deviously.* "People usually only come to see me when they need someone found, and when they have the highest ranking of orders."

"Who do you need me to find?"

Re: Shelter

*Tracyn cracked a grin to hide the nervous feeling he always got when people told him that much about how own plans without any good way for them to have known or predicted his actions. He shrugged slightly as if he was used to being read like a book. She had to know he wasn't, though. She seemed to be enjoying his discomfort.*

You know so much about me already, I didn't think I'd have to tell you who my target is. *He laughed, and shook his head in amazement.* I don't know how you spies do it, but it never ceases to unnerve and amaze me. *He stopped and rubbed his chin thoughtfully as he let the mild insult 'spy' sink in.*

I'm looking for Darth Archais. He seems to have dropped off the grid.

=Agent 30027=
"Spy? Spy, is it, Mr. Tracyn Or'dinii?" *She replied, emphasizing the name, and smiling mysteriously, her eyes amused but the rest of her face in a cold stare.* "That's not very nice. I haven't been spying on you. I've simply been doing my job." *The intelligence agent bent over her computer terminal for about three minutes, then pressed a button, and the screen went blank once more. The search had been surprisingly easy. The Or'dinii had quite a file on Archais. He was apparently a favored Mando contact among the Sith.*

"Aargau. Go to Aargau, and visit the Gem Star Cafe. It is said that the one you seek keeps an ear there for those who wish to contact him. Just remember, you never heard it from us."

*She nodded, and waved a hand in a gesture that encouraged Tracyn to go.*

Re: Shelter

*Tracyn winked, nodded, and stood up.*

Thank you very much, ma'am. And not one word. You should know me well enough to know I don't squeal. Ever.

*He grinned maliciously after issuing this latest challenge to her intelligence files (which no doubt did have quite a profile on him), and exited the room. The security guards were waiting, and they whisked him back down to his ship. The armed escort was not so much a sign of distrust as it was a show of respect (in his case, at least), Tracyn had realized, but it still felt odd.*

*Irregardless, ten minutes later, he was space-bound again, and fifteen seconds after that he was free of the Maw's enormous gravity well and safely in lightspeed. Now, he could get some much needed rest.*

=Agent 30027=
*When her visitor had gone, Agent 30027 closed and locked the door, listened a moment, then returned to her computer terminal, and flushed all of the last hour's search history permanently from the Or'dinii network. Then, she unlocked a side drawer of her desk, and withdrew a narrow flask with ancient symbols emblazoned on it -- Rakatan by the look of them. Taking a long sip, she sat back and let the Lehon-born liquor burn its way through her insides. It was a good relaxant and stimulant when one got tired of filtering and analyzing the endless stream of data that fed Shelter Station. Only one sip, however, any more and her judgment could have been effected. Sighing and shaking her head, she but the flask away, and turned back to the terminal, loading up inteligence ticker and looking for anything among the real-time feed that was of interest. Ah. A Tarkin vessel had been seen on Lehon. Very interesting. She clicked to bring up the specs....*

Re: Shelter

[Open space, on the outer edged of the Maw Cluster, near Shelter Station]

=Nuukh Hakh'khar=
*A lone Besu'liik starfighter dropped from hyperspace, and almost immediately made contact with Shelter Station, transmitting a long series of encrypted identification codes along a tight, directional transmission band to avoid interception. As the Noghri pilot closed with the station, his tactical board lit up green with automated clearances for landing on the VIP level of the station. Nuukh grinned to himself. It was good to be back from his recent travels, and on familiar turf again (Only, how could one possible call a space station nestled among a nest of black holes 'turf'?).*

[Aboard Shelter Station]

*Moments later, Nuukh passed through the magnetic atmospheric containment field and touched down on the hangar floor. Hopping from his cockpit, he secured it, saluted a passing security guard, and made his way quickly through the hatchway into the interior hallways of the station. After a few twists and turns, he arrived outside a locked door. Swiping an access card, and then scanning his retina, Nuukh verified his identity to security, and entered ta special room designed for accessing archived materials from the Or'dinii intelligence network.*

[High Security Archives Access Chamber, Aboard Shelter Station]

=Nuukh Hakh'khar=
*Pressing a wake-up button on the nearest computer terminal, and then inputting a 64-digit number that he had somehow committed to memory, the Mandalorian intelligence agent and special operative typed in a series of search terms, starting with those relating to Yaga Minor the planet, and then to the Yagai species, and finally, concerning recent intelligence on the government and culture of Yaga Minor. Aside from its long affiliation with the defunct Phoenix Imperium, and some economic information on the operations of Yaga Minor Drive Yards, there was precious little in the archives. The planet was far enough from previous Mandalorian space that the Or'dinii had never extensively scouted it. But one thing was of note... almost all data sources had ended the year before, and even a public holonet search yielded no results within the past two months. A cold, clammy feeling came over the Noghri researcher, and he fumbled in his pockets for his secured comlink. Someone had to warn Admiral Orsaa! Their scouting mission to the target system could be in danger -- danger of the unknown at least.*

[High Security Archives Access Chamber, Aboard Shelter Station]

=Nuukh Hakh'khar=
*Opening a high security voice-only line through the Or'dinii network directly to the Grand Admiral himself, the Nighri's gravely voice tumbled over itself slightly in excitement.*

:: Admiral, I hope I'm not late on this, but you should be warned. Yaga Minor has gone completely black on our scanners, starting over a week ago. And this isn't an issue of intelligence not having a reliable source. We did. We have all kinds of reports for months, mostly indicating that Imperial control had broken down. But then, within about 24 hours, the entire planet went silent. As far as we are aware, no call for aid was ever issued, although that likely went through the Imperial channels, and has no public trace. :: *He paused delicately, and scratched his chin.* :: Your forces may well be walking into a trap. I would advise sending immediate reinforcements. ::

*There was a static-y pause, and then the almost musical tones of the Rakata echoed back.*

=Gd. Adm. Rakata=
:: Negative, Agent. You are behind the news. My team has arrived and they are reporting no military dangers they cannot handle. You shall have a report soon. :: *The old military veteran paused, thinking carefully about whether it was worth sounding the alarm yet. But lives could be in danger. It would be better find find an expert and not need them, than to have more Yagai die needlessly.* :: In fact, could you research infectious disease specialists for me? We may have need of their services. The Yagai have a ... situation on their hands. ::

=Nuukh Hakh'khar=
:: Right away, sir. :: *The intelligence specialist blinked in surprise, and the pain in his stomach returned. What did this mean? The Admiral had carefully avoided anything that would indicate risk beyond the Yagai, but were the Mando'ade also in danger? He coudl see now why their wise commander did not want to send anyone else into danger. Their enemy was not of the military sort.*

Re: Shelter

[High Security Archives Access Chamber, Aboard Shelter Station]

=Nuukh Hakh'khar=
*Nuukh had spent hours scouring the records of the Mandalorian Empire, the intelligence data banks of the Or'dinii, and even the public holonet records made available by the Republic and other galactic governments, but he could find nothing that fit the symptoms of the disease reported to him by Grand Admiral Rakata. The longer he searched, the more his frustration set in. Finally, Nuukh shut down the intelligence terminal, and stood up, stretching slightly and making gravelly grunting and growling noises to himself.*

"Well then. Now what should I do."

*Nuukh looked around the room, seeking inspiration, and his eyes fell on a map of the Honoghr sector, pinned to the wall of the archives, with the Maw Cluster's position outlined in red. Honoghr. The Jedi had a medical facility on Honoghr, did they not? Perhaps they could help him. Given how close Honoghr lay to the Maw, it was worth a try. But first he'd need more information from Yaga Minor.*

*The special agent departed the archives, and made his way to his quarters to pack. By the time he'd gathered up his personal effects, there should be some new data from Yaga Minor. Then, he'd be off.*
