Re: The Gardens

*Saba looked around as she awaited a reply. The buzzing insects took her fancy, but she made sure not to be impolite and paid close attention to Shells. She seemed to be pondering about what Saba had said, and the little Barabel hoped she had said everything correctly. Eventually a small response came out, but again with another question. Tarz was somewhere in the gardens as well..maybe. He moves around a lot and ends up being hard to track. He truly had the instincts of a hunter. Saba just blinked and gave a small shrug.*

Well, Thiz one just wanted to see the plantz and tiny insectz. Thiz one iz trying to..um...um... sense! the Force. You see, Thiz one wantz to be a Jedi, but Thiz one haz no teacher...yet. Tarz iz somewhere nearby, but Thiz one believez he wantz to be alone for a little bit.

*She gave a soft sight and looked away for a moment to see a small bug hopping along in the grass. Her head snapped back to Shells to keep her focused and continued to speak with a cheerful tone.*

Shellz, what are you doing here?

Re: The Gardens

*Saba just wanted to look around, at the plants and insects and such. A simple explanation, but Shells hadn't been looking for anything in-depth and philosophical as an answer; she wanted a distraction. And so far it seemed to be working: Saba mentioned Tarz, and where he was at the moment, though he apparently wanted to be alone. Shells cocked her head to the side again, considering asking if Saba had an explanation.

But before she could, her hesitation had cost her: Saba had asked Shells why she was here. Granted, in a cheerful and merely curious tone, and not one that seemed to realize Shells had been in a funk recently. Although Shells didn't realize that at first and her eyes widened slightly; she nearly panicked, but managed to barely keep her cool. She smiled, glancing around, trying to come up with an excuse, anything to keep Saba from suspecting something.*

= Shells =
I was just... bored. There's nothing to do, and, well, yeah...

*... that was her explanation? Well, it was pretty terrible, but maybe it could pass off as something believable. People did random things for boredom relief, so it could actually be feasible, right? Well, so Shells hoped anyway.*

Re: The Gardens

*Saba felt a bit confused about Shells' answer. She seemed not to have fully collected the thought entirely when she answer. The little Barabel truly wondered why Shells had become a bit more... nervous. The blood in her veins had increase; Saba could tell by instinct. The Barabel did not want to be too prodding, and so she just nodded in acknowledgment. *

Bored? Hmm, yez, Thiz one thinkz thiz iz a good place when you are bored. Thiz one truly lovez it here. So many creaturez and plantz to observe!... Though, Thiz one haz heard a lot of the plantz kill you. But.. but.. That makez it more exciting right?

*Saba paused for a moment realizing her statement could be used as a good question.*

Shellz', how do you like Felucia?

*The little Barabel asked in an innocent tone.*

Re: The Gardens

*Saba seemed to be buying the alibi. Good. Shells restrained a smile, which was actually quite simple as she disliked misleading her friend. But the smile came when she noted Saba's excitement about the gardens. At least she was enjoying herself here. Shells, however, frowned at the mention of plants that tried to "kill you." Yet, Saba claimed that that only made things "more exciting."

Shells had heard about when Michelle, Annabelle, and Morgan had gotten lost in the wilderness on their own for a couple of days. She had heard about the multiple times when their lives were threatened, by an acklay, by a corrupted Felucian, by a ripper that had nearly made off with Michelle and had actually caused her to break her leg, by a rancor later on, and then by the sarlacc. The only time plants had been mentioned were the poison spitter that had driven away the acklay, the vines that the Felucian had caused to trap Morgan, and the sticky sap-covered orb that had fallen upon Michelle, which had led to her being attacked by the ripper in the first place.

And now Saba was asking Shells how she liked Felucia. Considering these thoughts, and earlier thoughts about how much easier and safer it was to play outside of the Belkadan Academy's halls, Shells' answer could have been a simple "I don't at all." Which wouldn't have been true, and probably a bit rude; she didn't want to dampen Saba's spirits. And she didn't want to lie to her. ... again.*

= Shells =
Well... uh... it's... ... boring.

*And there, Shells had just admitted her true thoughts on this world. She looked at Saba for a moment, sadly perhaps, before sighing and beginning to explain herself.*
= Shells =
Look, on Belkadan, I could run outside whenever I wanted, run and play around, climb trees, go swimming in the lake, whatever I wanted! Here... I can't do that because it's too dangerous out there. I've only got...

*Shells paused and glanced around, then looked back down at Saba while gesturing around with one arm.*
= Shells =
Here. And it's not as big or fun.

*Shells lowered her arm and her head and sighed again; hopefully, Saba wouldn't be disappointed that Shells didn't find this world as exciting as the young Barabel did. Maybe Shells just had to get used to it, but... it wasn't easy. The Jedi Base of Felucia was, in comparison to the Jedi Academy of Belkadan, a relative cage.*

Re: The Gardens

*Saba felt a bit saddened that she had put Shells into this position. While Saba did enjoy Felucia better, she had forgotten that Belkadan was Shells' home. Suddenly, the little Barabel wondered that perhaps Shells was upset for this very reason. The tension that she felt from her friend became evidence. Shells also seemed to think the base was a cage. They were not permitted outside the base which did cut off a lot of area to run about. The Gardens had been the one place were Saba could find a place to play without much disturbance of the military presence. While Saba was satisfied with the Gardens, she understood what Shells was trying to say. *

"Well, perhapz we can...adapt together. Thiz one had to adapt to Belkadan, so... Thiz one knowz you can adapt to Felucia too! Thiz one knowz it iz hard but maybe we can find a way to make the base more...um.. exciting!

*Saba tried so hard to turn the mood of the conversation into something cheerful. Perhaps there was something Shells had been really wanting to do as of late and well... maybe Saba could fulfill that. *

Re: The Gardens

*Shells watched Saba, listened as the young Barabel claimed that since she could adapt to Belkadan, then Shells could adapt to Felucia. And that she would do her best to help Shells find a way to make it more "exciting." Shells had to crack a small smile at this. Saba was such a good friend... Not that Michelle wasn't, but Shells had done her best to keep her mood a secret from her.*
= Shells =
Well... I guess we can try.

*Shells then took a step closer to Saba and wrapped her arms gently around the hatchling's scaly shoulders, expressing her gratitude in a hug. Even if their efforts weren't successful...*
= Shells =
Thanks, Saba.

*... Shells was glad Saba was at least willing to try.*

Re: The Gardens

*Saba smiled as Shells wrapped her soft skinned arms around her scaly body. Human flesh always felt so warm and comforting which made the Barabel enjoy soft skinned hugs the most. Anyways, the little Barabel felt happy that she lifted Shells' mood, but what to do now? Oh.. her tummy just growled. Hmm, yes, it was time to grab something to eat. Perhaps Shells' would join her, but if she didn't, Saba would understand.*

Shells... Thiz one iz hungry. Would you like something to eat?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*In another part in the gardens, Quinn quietly mediated awaiting for Nicole to return from her little excursion to the Felucian forest. She had left him a small note explaining the details with a small holo video containing her blowing a kiss to him. So far, his talks with the other Jedi here had went smoothly; however, they had decided to take a day to mediate in the Force. Quinn loved the garden's serenity and peace which allowed him to connect to the Force deeper. During his mediation, the Force opened to him fully. Images started to flood his mind. Without a thought, he let the Force take its course and allowed it to pass through his mind unhindered.
At first, they were filled with a certainty of peace. Wonder and amazement flourished his mind. The images almost seemed like they were of the past rather than the present. Then the scenes changed. They became dark while being filled with disgust and hatred. Who or what mind was feeling these emotions? Was someone nearby struggling with another being or a memory of the past? Quinn focused himself further allowing the images becoming clearer. He could tell now this was of another Jedi for he saw a lightsaber being used against a dark figure with glowing red eyes. The opponent was shifty and cunning. He eluded the Jedi into a trap as flames encircled around the Jedi. Quinn forehead started to sweat as he pulled himself deeper into the Force. The emotions became his in a sense and even some sense of feeling touched his physical body with the accompanying images.
Suddenly, his body lurched in pain as his eyes saw rocks and debris falling everywhere. The feelings of hatred became twisted with sorrow, yet filled with a certain peace. Quinn leaned forward stabilizing himself with his hand as he started to breath heavily. The vision was taking a toll on him, but he pushed himself to continue. Blackness took his mind for a moment, but when they returned they befell a monstrous beast with a grim smile of darkness and twisted thought. Quinn's own emotions seemed to have leveled off into a strange sense of peace, but it was coupled with a slowly growing feeling of hopelessness. The vision then reached its critical point..
Quinn recognized the creature before him. It was a Stynax. But who was seeing this? Where were they? Quinn tried to think while the images continued to play within his mind's eye. Finally, there was a voice. A voice that he recognized immediately... *
<< Quinn.. If... If you can hear me.. I... I love you. >>
*Gasping for air, Quinn broke the vision. His eyes were a milky white for a moment before fading back to their crisp dark brown color. His body nearly collapsed, but he kept himself stable with his hands and knees. Sweat dripped off his hair as he tried to gain his breath... and his mind. This vision was real, and some.. some creature had Nicole in his clutches. Quinn knew that the Force had opened him to this for a reason, but the Jedi Master had a feeling that it was more than just warning him of Nicole's danger. Standing up slowly, the Jedi master tapped into the Force once more in order to trace Nicole. He had to save her.. There... had to be time.*
I am coming, my love.
*Feeling a lead, Quinn quickly left the gardens running toward the exit. Using the Force to boost his speed, he went into the forest of Felucia to stop whoever was trying to harm Nicole.*
Re: The Gardens
*It was strange how, despite the roughness of a Barabel's scales, a sincere hug almost seemed to have all the warmth and softness of hugging a soft-skinned being. But that probably went deeper than physical contact. But the small little churning noise did not go unnoticed by Shells; and, in fact, she was reminded of times when it happened to either her or Michelle when they were in close proximity. The other one would always grin and giggle, while the one whose stomach had growled would blush. Shells grinned, but did not laugh; it felt like too much of an inside joke.*
= Shells =
Sure! I'm kinda hungry too. Let's go!
*Shells made a beckoning gesture with her arm as she turned towards the direction of the Gardens' exit. Well, food was a good distraction. And that was all Shells could really hope for at this point: Distractions. Distract her from all the sullen somber feelings that were dragging her down and causing her to dislike this place. If only Michelle was around more, if only they could actually go outside beyond the grounds without having to worry about danger. Oh well, Shells was certain that, one day, she would get used to all this... if it was a cage, at least it was a pretty cage, right?*
*Sabo set cross legged in the beautiful temple garden, meditating in the force, letting the peace it brings soothe him. The hardships of the last few months wieghed on him heavily: the battles on Kamino, the duels in the tower here on Felucia, and the lose of his padawan. Sabo needed some time to unwind, which was the reason he came to the restful and relaxing place on the temple grounds.*
*Siegfried limped into the gardens and sat down in his usual spot on one of the benches. He had always come here for the fact that it was much more peaceful than anywhere else in the base, which made his usual meditations much easier. Not to mention he could certainly use some peace and quiet after what he had been through at the tower. All things considered, he was truly lucky to be alive and sane after that ordeal...*
Re: The Gardens
*What Ever it was, it was dark, and it bothered the Diathim. Beacon had carefully stayed well away from the battle between Legion and the Jedi, until she'd honed her skills a bit more. Truly, a creature so dependent on the light as she was, would be no match for such a creature as Legion, or any of his minions on their turf...but let them come here, and she would show them what holy light truly was made of.
Garbed in her dark brown robes to obscure her brilliant aura from sensitive eyes, the Angel walked slowly through the gardens, drinking in the light that filtered through the very earth here. She was looking for someone in particular though, someone she felt a small inner struggle. Who she was looking for though, she was unsure. Reaching up a slender golden hand, she moved back some white strands of wispy hair that refused to remain under the hood. Her six, thin, moth like wings stretched out behind her, keeping themselves flattened against her shoulders as she seemed to glided along.
And there, her eyes spotted Siegfried. She'd briefly seen him only once, but knew him to be one of those who had fought at the tower. Sabo Un was around here also, Raven Alora's brother. Her large silvery eyes looked around her before settling on him once more as she slowly and silently walked over to Siegfried. Softly, she settled herslf on the ground, and allowed her wings to fold over her shoulders in a relaxed position.
*
You fought hard, I sense it.
*She said to him, in a lovely musical voice, unique to her race. Turning her head, she looked at the Silent warrior fully, a look of concern on her features, though it might be difficult to make out due to the glowing aura about her face.*
And, are you still fighting?
*She asked, tentatively. One of her hands rested on the ground beside her, long, thin, golden fingers splayed to support her thin frame. She looked at him intently, seeking an answer in either his silence or even, in his voice, should he choose to answer her.*
*Siegfried opened his eyes to see someone approaching him. She wasn't human, or any race or species that he recognized but she was obviously an ally to the Jedi, if the aura of light that he sensed around her was any indication. He wasn't surprised to see that she could sense his inner struggle with Hunger, a remnant of the being who had nearly killed him in the tower, especially if she was a being of light. It did trouble him a little that his struggle was so transparent, but he pushed those feelings aside for the moment. He wasn't going to be able to prevail against Hunger by himself...*
"My struggle is inside..."
*Grimacing from the pain in his side as he shifted on the bench to face the angelic being, the warrior turned to explain to her.*
"There is...something inside me. The same entity that I fought in the tower...the one that almost killed me."
*Sabo's mind replays the memories of his last few moments in the tower, four masters of the light united against one monster of the darkness, trying to trap the creature in a prison of force energy. The last few seconds were mostly a blur, Sabo couldn't quite remember the completion of the battle, as he couldn't stay consious any longer, finally succumbing to the injuries suffered from a horrendous battle.
His force arua changed from calming and gentle, to troubled then. It weighed heavy in the atmosphere of the garden, as the Jedi master lost control of himself. He gritted his teeth and tried to regain his composure.*
Re: The Gardens
*For a moment the Angel blinked, as if she hadn't actually expected him to answer her in such a transparent manner. But he had, and for that, she could be grateful she supposed. She felt like he was the kind of being who liked to accept challenges, a man of unquestionable strength and valor. But, from what she just saw of him, he was also someone who would admit to having a problem, even a weakness. She found that very rare, even among the Jedi. And it impressed her.
She took in what he had said though, because right now that was the important issue. Apparently Legion wasn't the only one they were fighting in the tower. He had his own minions to fight along side him, but were they beings of darkened energy also? Like he was? From what Siegfried had told her, she figured it must be so. Closing her eyes, she moved a little closer to him and then opened her eyes again, a thin, almost unnoticed trimmer running through her.
*
I feel him.
*She whispered, tilting her head in a questioning manner before speaking again.*
What was he like the first time you fought... in the tower?
*She needed more information about it. Not all dark entities took kindly to sudden blasts of force light, and indeed, she'd learned that from experience. Beacon became pensive, thoughtful. The dark being within Siegfried's mind wasn't attacking him right now, which meant two things. Either he was weakened, or, he was biding time... or both. And Beacon needed to know which that was.*
*Siegfried closed his eyes, recalling his first battle with Hunger in the tower. It fed off of the rush and carnage of battle and only got stronger the more the warrior had tried to fight it. He had realized this and tried to stand down, to see if that weakened it, only for it to stab him in its desperation. The memory of the attack caused a brief lancing pain in the wound on his side and he grimaced.*
"It was...is...an entity that feeds on battle."
*The warrior opened his eyes once again, turning to look at the angelic being once more.*
"I am not sure how or why...but it found its way into my mind. It tried to take over."
Talib watched as his young friend wrote on the datapad. It was heartwrenching to see him like this. Not wanting to speak. It shocked the old man into silence as he waited for any other response from his nephew. The boy had been so affected by grief. How could he have let this happen, he wonodered to himself?
He read over the datapad thoughtfully. Western Outer Rim. That was a plan. Possibly head in that general direction as soon as possible. He was about to suggest this aloud when his young friends comlexion completely changed and a chill grew over him. A presence long-ago felt but not forgotten. Never forgotten. Why. Why now, why here? Why this place? This place was so full of life. If it happened again...
He looked to Tom, who's words spoke of a problem. Victor's eyes darkened. He looked to Zemear then to Tom, grief ripping through his veins. He stepped towards him, his hands reaching behind him and unhilting his large saberstaff. He held it protectively in front of him, not activating it as of yet.
"He is here. I had hoped... no... wished dearly never to face him again. You call it a problem? I call it much worse. So much worse. There is a darkness approaching that you have never faced, my friends. Tom, get the younglings to safety. If this is who I know it to be, then they should be kept safe. Far away from here. Go, run, get them safe. Zemear..."
HIs gaze was appreaciative now of Zemear. He felt how much he had grown physically and in the Force. But was he ready for this? This could mean the end of both their lives as they knew it. Not that Talib had much of a life anyway. But he wanted more. More for this family of his.
All these were cut short by a blast into his very heart. His eyes teared up with joy. It .. it couldn't be. It had to be a lie. His breathing grew faster. Was it really her? It had to be another of HIs lies. His treachery... But no. He knew that signature anywhere. He closed his eyes and let his body relax. Tears ran down his face. THen he opened them again. Determination written across his face.
He was ready to face him.
"Zemear... Come with me. Face what's coming. You'll understand in due time but I believe this... to be your destiny."
I want to help you. You've fought too hard to carry something like this.
*She whispered. Beacon was a strange creature. She had an overwhelming desire to liberate those she found from the darkened shell that tended to be around them. No one deserved the chains of the darkside, and the Diathim was absolutely convinced of that. That was why she was a Jedi. That was why she was here. *
Zemear paused for a moment, listening to the strong and tense words that came from Talib's lips. He could practically feel the emotions rolling off the man. Slowly he retrieved his datapad and slipped it away. Apparently something large was coming. Apparently Zemear had felt it, and it was a lot bigger than he thought it would be. What bothered him the most though, was....that thing -what ever it was- had his mother. It was absolute, Zemear would fight it, and take his mother away from it, so that was not an issue.
What confused and slightly bothered Zemear was how quickly Talib was about sending his brother away. Again though, he would have done the same thing. However, Zemear felt justified in doing so. His brother's safety was paramount to him, especially after Zulli's death. However, to have someone else treat the two of them so differently, strangely, caused Zemear to become protective of Covi.
Looking over at his twin, he seemed to ignore Talib's strong invitation for the moment, and walked over to Covi, taking note of the vexed look on the other's features. He allowed himself the smallest of smiles, and put an encouraging hand on Covi's shoulder. They made eye contact and all Zemear wanted to say was easily picked up by his well practiced brother.
He wanted Covi safe, not because he felt Covi to be less of a person than he was, because Covi had done just as much growing as Zemear had. They both had run, they both had been threatened, they both had lost a father, left a mother, and lost a sister. Zemear felt like he was no better than his twin and he let Covi know that. But Zemear also desperately wanted Covi to know something... and that was a single weakness that had pierced through the tank like figure of Zemear's soul.
Zemear didn't know if he could continue with out his brother.
He didn't know if he could handle another loss. Not again. There came a point where everyone broke, and even someone as seemingly strong minded as the Epikanthix youth, had to brake some time. He squeezed Covi's shoulder, searching his expression to make sure Covi understood all, and then, he embraced him. With a sigh, the Epikanthix Jedi apprentice released his twin, nodded slowly, and with eyes lingering slightly on Covi, he turned to face Tom with a questioning gaze.
What did Talib mean? his destiny? And why the heck did Talib think that he'd NOT fight? more importantly ... what was it that he didn't understand? What was so grave about this new adversary? To Zemear, it was just another threat that had to be engaged and ended, its victim released. Indeed, the thought of having his mother back, safe, on this planet with them pleased Zemear. But, he looked at Tom now with a question, Almost as if asking for permission to follow Talib. After all, Tom was his master now.
As if to further his point, the Epikanthix lifted his large left hand, and drew forth one of his massive vibro blades from his back, its metallic surface sliding with an almost bell like tone across its sheath as it came free. He looked at Talib now, a dangerous look in his eye, so unlike the timid, shy blue eyes the elder Epikanthix would remember. Thees steely blue orbs of his were the windows to a soul that had been hardened, tried by molten fire, and shaped into something sharper than any two edged sword. Zemear was no longer a bystander. He was a weapon.
Covi looked questioningly at Zemear as he approached him with a tightened posture. Had something he done been wrong? Was he suppose to say something? Was Zemear upset with him again? No...to Covi's surprise, his brother put a hand on his shoulder, and Covi could almost feel the respect Zemear held for him, in that single touch. If there was any doubt though, it was abolished as soon as Covi made eye contact with his twin.
Even he was struck speechless for a moment. Slowly, lifting his hand, he put it atop his brother's and peered back at him for a moment before attempting to utter a word. When the word did come, it was hushed, but, firm...probably more firm than Tom had ever heard Covi speak to his brother.
I understand..
Zemear embraced him, and Covi embraced his brother in kind, releasing him and smiling slightly, an encouraging look coming to his much softer and more innocent blue eyes.
You go get him...there's plenty of trees here to peg him with.
As of right now, Covi was blissfully unaware of the presence of his mother anywhere near bye, nor the fact that she was probably being tormented at the hands of this creature coming upon the planet. All Covi knew, was what was told to him, and right now, it was very little. Though, Zemear seemed just as confused as he was...Talib had changed, and right now, both boys felt he was being rather cryptic. Looking up to Talib Covi spoke again, with a bit of firmness to his voice.
You, take care of my brother.
It was odd, like Zemear's manic protectiveness was put into an audible form by his twin, in that moment, as if Covi wasn't as young and naive as everyone thought him to be.
*Siegfried thought back to the battle inside his head, where he had once again clashed with the demon inside his head. He had been weak and the creature tried to take over his mind. He had defeated it the same way he had tried to in the tower, but this time he had managed to hold off its influence.
It didn't matter too much how he had beaten the creature now. What mattered was that this being of light could help him purge the creature from his mind forever. Sure he had been able to hold off its dark influence, but for how long? There was no doubt that Hunger would rest and regain its strength before trying again. He couldn't hold it off forever. But if she could help him...*
"I would be grateful for your help...er..."
*The warrior realized that she hadn't told him her name.*
"What is your name?"
Re: The Gardens
*Tom watched, as, in response to his warning, Talib removed his weapon from his belt and held it before him defensively, declaring that "he" was here. Someone Talib had "wished dearly to never face" again. Tom had already made the connection: This must have been the "darkness" Talib had mentioned before, the one that had threatened the safety of the children in the past.
And certainly enough, that was exactly how Talib had described it: "A darkness approaching that you have never faced." "Try me," Tom thought, but said nothing aloud. He had faced many dangers before, seen several terrible things, but he was not overconfident; he knew there were still things out there he hadn't encountered. The thought was not one of arrogance, nor a challenge, merely a comment on Tom's own myriad exploits in his life.
So Talib wanted Tom to make sure the children of this base were taken to safety. As well as, he assumed, Covi. Perhaps Tom should indeed see to the Epicanthix's safety, but he could also simply alert the base to be on the lookout for... a Sith, was it? They could handle the security of their students; Tom was concerned for them all, particularly for Morgan and the others. But if there was to be an offensive launched upon the Jedi, Tom was going to stand and fight.
Strangely, Talib had paused after he began to address Zemear, and his eyes seemed to moisten a bit. This was a curious act to Tom, and several explanations for this action appeared in his mind, but he disregarded them. He watched as Zemear shared a moment with his brother, Tom smiling at the mention of "trees," then waited when there came a long enough pause that Tom could speak.*
= Tom =
I'll see to Covi's safety. I'll alert the base that a Sith threat may be inbound. They'll see to the base's security.
*Tom then looked at Zemear. They'd known each other for quite a bit of time now, yet Zemear had grown so much in that short span of time. A twinkle of pride formed in the man's eye, but other than that, there was no outwards reaction other than the words he next spoke to the Epicanthix youth.*
= Tom =
Go with him. You have my blessing. I shall return to you after I have secured your brother's safety.
*Tom then nodded slowly to Zemear before turning his gaze towards Covi, raising his hand and beckoning him.*
= Tom =
Come, Covi. We must alert the base and get you to safety.
*Tom then turned, not waiting for a confirmation, and began to stride forth, away from the Gardens. This situation was apparently dire, and Tom was not about to let the Jedi Base be unprepared when they had an inkling of a potential threat. Nor would he let innocent people like Covi be left vulnerable, especially if he already was a target of whatever threat this was. As was Zemear, but...
Tom resisted the urge to look over his shoulder. The boy could handle himself, and Talib was with him. Tom would soon join them, and it wasn't like this darkness would be upon them instantaneously. No, Tom had plenty of time to see to his given task, and he would return to stand with them against whatever was coming. Perhaps he should let Aerandir and Raven know of this as well; the more they had to stand against this threat if necessary, the better.*
