*Beacon listened intently to Siegfried as he spoke. Everything he said was important and every word of it was put into her mind and pondered. She recalled all the dark creatures she'd fought in her life, and this one seemed strangely different. He'd been physically wounded, perhaps by the demon's own weapon. If so, it would make sense how the demon managed to seep its consciousness into Siegfried's mind. Dark things were like that, infectious creatures with a desire to corrupt.
But he'd said it had tried to take over, and yet, he had beaten it back? Or, if it fed on battle, he must have used some other way to defeat it partly. What was important was ridding the warrior of the dark spirit, utterly and completely.*
How did you defeat it?
*She asked, curiously. She drew a little closer to him, not in any kind of rude or suggestive manner, but she was curious as to how the thing would react to something so filled with the light, to be so near to it. How defensive was it? Beacon needed to know all she could about the creature if she were going to help at all....and she dearly hoped she could do something.*
I want to help you. You've fought too hard to carry something like this.
*She whispered. Beacon was a strange creature. She had an overwhelming desire to liberate those she found from the darkened shell that tended to be around them. No one deserved the chains of the darkside, and the Diathim was absolutely convinced of that. That was why she was a Jedi. That was why she was here. *
Zemear paused for a moment, listening to the strong and tense words that came from Talib's lips. He could practically feel the emotions rolling off the man. Slowly he retrieved his datapad and slipped it away. Apparently something large was coming. Apparently Zemear had felt it, and it was a lot bigger than he thought it would be. What bothered him the most though, was....that thing -what ever it was- had his mother. It was absolute, Zemear would fight it, and take his mother away from it, so that was not an issue.
What confused and slightly bothered Zemear was how quickly Talib was about sending his brother away. Again though, he would have done the same thing. However, Zemear felt justified in doing so. His brother's safety was paramount to him, especially after Zulli's death. However, to have someone else treat the two of them so differently, strangely, caused Zemear to become protective of Covi.
Looking over at his twin, he seemed to ignore Talib's strong invitation for the moment, and walked over to Covi, taking note of the vexed look on the other's features. He allowed himself the smallest of smiles, and put an encouraging hand on Covi's shoulder. They made eye contact and all Zemear wanted to say was easily picked up by his well practiced brother.
He wanted Covi safe, not because he felt Covi to be less of a person than he was, because Covi had done just as much growing as Zemear had. They both had run, they both had been threatened, they both had lost a father, left a mother, and lost a sister. Zemear felt like he was no better than his twin and he let Covi know that. But Zemear also desperately wanted Covi to know something... and that was a single weakness that had pierced through the tank like figure of Zemear's soul.
Zemear didn't know if he could continue with out his brother.
He didn't know if he could handle another loss. Not again. There came a point where everyone broke, and even someone as seemingly strong minded as the Epikanthix youth, had to brake some time. He squeezed Covi's shoulder, searching his expression to make sure Covi understood all, and then, he embraced him. With a sigh, the Epikanthix Jedi apprentice released his twin, nodded slowly, and with eyes lingering slightly on Covi, he turned to face Tom with a questioning gaze.
What did Talib mean? his destiny? And why the heck did Talib think that he'd NOT fight? more importantly ... what was it that he didn't understand? What was so grave about this new adversary? To Zemear, it was just another threat that had to be engaged and ended, its victim released. Indeed, the thought of having his mother back, safe, on this planet with them pleased Zemear. But, he looked at Tom now with a question, Almost as if asking for permission to follow Talib. After all, Tom was his master now.
As if to further his point, the Epikanthix lifted his large left hand, and drew forth one of his massive vibro blades from his back, its metallic surface sliding with an almost bell like tone across its sheath as it came free. He looked at Talib now, a dangerous look in his eye, so unlike the timid, shy blue eyes the elder Epikanthix would remember. Thees steely blue orbs of his were the windows to a soul that had been hardened, tried by molten fire, and shaped into something sharper than any two edged sword. Zemear was no longer a bystander. He was a weapon.
Covi looked questioningly at Zemear as he approached him with a tightened posture. Had something he done been wrong? Was he suppose to say something? Was Zemear upset with him again? No...to Covi's surprise, his brother put a hand on his shoulder, and Covi could almost feel the respect Zemear held for him, in that single touch. If there was any doubt though, it was abolished as soon as Covi made eye contact with his twin.
Even he was struck speechless for a moment. Slowly, lifting his hand, he put it atop his brother's and peered back at him for a moment before attempting to utter a word. When the word did come, it was hushed, but, firm...probably more firm than Tom had ever heard Covi speak to his brother.
I understand..
Zemear embraced him, and Covi embraced his brother in kind, releasing him and smiling slightly, an encouraging look coming to his much softer and more innocent blue eyes.
You go get him...there's plenty of trees here to peg him with.
As of right now, Covi was blissfully unaware of the presence of his mother anywhere near bye, nor the fact that she was probably being tormented at the hands of this creature coming upon the planet. All Covi knew, was what was told to him, and right now, it was very little. Though, Zemear seemed just as confused as he was...Talib had changed, and right now, both boys felt he was being rather cryptic. Looking up to Talib Covi spoke again, with a bit of firmness to his voice.
You, take care of my brother.
It was odd, like Zemear's manic protectiveness was put into an audible form by his twin, in that moment, as if Covi wasn't as young and naive as everyone thought him to be.
