Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*Irana was actually happy that it had gone well, mainly for the knowledge that she had succeeded. Chloro's happiness, even her life, were secondary to this. She sat back on her chair and breathed deeply, not yet ready for the second stage. The Wych slowly reached into a draw of her table, from within she produced a small pouch that seemed to contain a small amount of some kind of powder. She poured a small line of the black powder onto the table and quickly placed the bag back in the draw, closing it. She tilted her head slightly to look at the powder before quickly ducking her head in and licking the powder up. Eyes wide and pupils dilated she throws her head back and takes another deep breath in. She would soon be fine.*

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*The Corellian Corvette "The Fool's Justice" descended towards the surface of the planet. Below her was the city but she wasn't heading there, she was destined for the mountains just outside the city. The Fortress of Minas Ithil was where she was heading with her cargo. It was where Sorak put things he didn't want to see or hear of again until he chose to do so. In this case the new "guest" was to be tested in the animal cages below the main fortress. The main courtyard had been cleared for the ships arrival and she slowly filled the entire space, kicking up all the dust and dirty from the cobbled space. Touching down and powering down, crews of workers from the surrounding buildings rushed out to attend to their business. Re-fuelling the ship, maintaining the ship and cargo removal.

Yasmir stepped off the loading ramp first and sneered at the lowly slaves going about their tasks. She was accompanied by five members of the Black Guard, garbed in their usual helmet, armour and toting their usual armoury of personal weapons. Just behind them was a ten man strong team of workers carrying the Cage in which Suda was placed in. They lifted it via a set of poles so as not to get too close the the creature. They quickly made their way through the courtyard and down a very long turbolift journey. It was the freight lift and as such, worked slower but they were a good few storeys underground.*

*The workers put the cage down at the side of a large room as Yasmir and the others made there way through a series of cage doors that closed behind them. The room was more a cave with cages windows and doors dotted around and a large, sand covered floor. This was the third cage to be placed within the room, the other two held a single Gundark each. The slaves soon put the cage down and returned to the door that yasmir and the others had stepped through, it did not open. The group began to get nervous as they looked up towards Yasmir who was now being seated in an upper room with a view from another cage window. She smiled and pressed a button that opened all the cages within the room. The slaves quickly panicked and began pounding on the doors and windows to get out, the beats had awoken.*

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*Suda roused slowly from his sleep in a blur, the strong narcotics the pirates had given him left him in a drunken stupor for a few seconds as his vision danced in a sea of color and light. Wiping at his face, he could feel a strong urge to feed and realized he was in some sort of underground cavern. The artificial lighting cut deep into his brain and he shielded his face from the white beams. Noticing a few slip humanoids scrambling to get away, Suda slowly paced towards one on all fours sniffing the air calmly for the scent of blood. One slave cut it's hand on a sharp bit of metal on one of the cage doors and Suda's ears and head immediately perked up as he stared directly at the slave. Mouth full of saliva, Suda was upon the slave in a matter of seconds with his teeth several inches into the man's throat.

The other slaves darted back in horror away from the sight, right into the arms of the awakened gundarks on the farside of the room. With screams of agony, they are torn to pieces by the massive creatures and subsequently devoured. Suda pulled his corpse into a dark corner and eyed the beasts with anticipation as he torn into the dead slave's flesh, his mouth dripping with blood.*

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*Yasmir was not at all disappointed in the loss of a few slaves, even if the Gundarks had killed most of them. She was more interested in what would happen next. She looked around and the rest of her entourage who also eagerly awaited the battle between these vicious beasts and the one they had been sent after. Half of them wanted the new beast to be killed for what it had done to two of their brothers and the other half wanted to see it emerge victorious. That would mean their brothers did not die for nothing.*

*Both Gundarks quickly devoured their victims and looked around the arena at Suda. They then looked at each other and back to the newcomer. The creatures had been raised together in the animal pit of the fortress and had now worked up an appetite. They both charged at Suda, one leaping from a few feet away to claw the new comer. The other would wait for a second more before also leaping in, claws flailing!*

*Chloro had become suspended in time, a thick molasses that made it hard to puzzle out whether it had been a week, a month or a year. Her wounds had healed, her hands had hardened and her physiology had radically altered. But there were things that would never leave her. In her existence, it was her one dominating and all consuming factor. And now it had left her hollow in its absence. But now it returned.*

*Sitting on the floor of her cell like a lobotomised meatbag, she gave a slight jerk and her eyed blinked convulsively.*

Why did you leave me?

*The voice asked, plaintively. Chloro cried. It was joyous, it was fearful. The cocktail of emotions ran through her. It was like coming back to life.*

Why did you leave me!

*The voice asked again, this time vengeful. She screamed. Perhaps a life without living would have been much preferred. Rage filled her. Her hands shook, leaking nitrates that caught fire immediately. With a pair of flaming hands, she smashed her cot into a raging fireball. Next was the cell door. The durasteel easily resisted the flaming hands. And then burst into flame as if a fusion cutter was going through it. Inexplicably, these chemicals surged from her hands. And although they can in varied quantities and different qualities, they all had one thing in common. They exploded.*

*Chloro was her name. And she had become her name.*

Now, atta' girl...

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*The doorway out of the room in which the now broken cage was in, was not closed for long. Soon after the commotion within, the guards had alerted their superiors and soon word had reach Irana, her experiment was awake! The guard opened the door warily and backed away rather swiftly, he had seen first hand what the creature the Wych had created had done. The Wych herself showed no fear and almost glided into the room, her feet and legs concealed from view by her outfit. She walked straight over to the destroyed cage and the flames. Her eyes jumped around Chloro's body, scanning her and making note of what state she was in. She was pleased.*

=Irana=
So, you seem to have awoken my dear? Would you mind putting those things out, they might impede space travel should you wish to undertake that activity. I would very much like you to travel back to my brother and serve him well. However, you must always remember who helped you in your most desperate hour!

*Her voice rasped and cackled out the words as it always did but this time with a hint of excitement. She always got some joy out of an experiment of her's going well and this one certainly had. The door was still open and Irana was not stood between Chloro and freedom. In fact she had arranged a ship to take her back to the Cutlass whenever she wanted to, a plan was forming in her mind.*

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*The door itself was on fire, the metal superheated by burning magnesium. Short of burying the entire the door, there was nothing to do but watch it smolder itself away. Which is exactly what she did before glowering at Irana. There was that unnatural gleam in her eye that appeared out of the shadows of her face and the smiling teeth, grinding their razor edges. Her hands were bunched into fists and shook with the force that held them there. But she stood rooted to the spot. Embracing Chloro from behind, it serenaded to her its most ardent desires*

Now, you're a monster, just like me. And that wych, she's like me. Now, kill her..

*For a moment, Chloro';s face falls and she recoils from the fact, turning her face from the voice. She resisted.*

I wont be a monster..

*She said loudly, firmly. But the proof was there. The fires burning, her still smoking hands. The scars on her arms. The dead. Thoughts blurred faster and faster. And they repeated it, over and over and over....*

She made you one.

*The conversation took only a few heartbeats to complete. But it had effect and once again, Chloro knew who she was fighting. And she would aim to kill.*

*Ripping the blanket from her still burning cot, her hands bled sulphur. The fire burned with renewed intensity and an evil smoke rapidly filled the cell in a thick haze. And then she swept the blanket up and threw it to cover Irana...*

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*Irana listened to the ramblings of Chloro, not paying much attention. She had seen the report and judged her to be mentally unstable, the perfect candidate for genetic manipulation! However the lack of control she appeared to have over her new toys was alarming. The smoke didn't bother Irana too much but the heat was getting a bit much. It was only then she saw the fiery blanket being flung her way through the smoke. The high-angled trajectory and the shape of the blanket suggested a very malicious nature to the attack, it made the Wych smile.*

*Irana took a quick half step back and flung her left hand up, fanning her claws out. With a backhanded slash she cut the blanket in half along its length and watched the two halves fall to the ground either side of her. The attack was as vicious as it was predictable, most of her experiments turned on Irana at some point. Counter attack was the order of the day and the swift half backwards step was followed up even quicker with a full step forward. She brought her right hand up and extended her claws in a full hand swipe across Chloro's face and chest. Her arm would then fold against her body and her momentum would carry her forward more to shoulder barge the smaller female backwards into the cell.*

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*The arcid haze in the cell made Chloro gag with each burning breath she took. Sulphur was poisonous and inhaling too much of it could be bad for your health. She needed to get out, get away. She saw the hazy outline of the blanket fall into two halves where she guessed the door to be and made her way in that direction. Only to be swept aside by Irana. She collapsed into a heap, bruised and bleeding. Without access to her larger weapons, it was difficult to think of ways of killing her. Even a knife would do...

And on command, a pair unsheathed themselves from her wrists. Picking herself up, Chloro wheezed and looked for an opening to stab the Wych...*

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*Irana stood back a step after knocking Chloro to the ground. The air in the cell was punishing them both and she needed to get out before any lasting damage was done. This was not easy as Chloro had been augmented to kill and turning your back to her was now a very deadly move indeed. This meant her exit would more than likely be slower but more controlled. Her robes made walking backwards and trick proposition but the Wych had had practise and kept her claws ready to defend herself.*

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*A military speeder pulled into the courtyard of the mighty Fortress after a long journey through the city and out past the outskirts. Waiting for them was Vlaana, the Executioner in charge of the prison. She stood, flanked by eight of her elite Jailers next to the main entrance. The speeder pulled up and the gates to the courtyard were closed, now any escape would be impossible. The walls were thirty feet high and laced with electrified mesh on the inside. There were guard towers in each corner and three of the walls overlooked the two hundred foot cliff face the fortress was built on. There was only one way out of this place, death.

The co-pilot of the speeder exited the vehicle and quickly opened the rear doors, flooding the inside of the speeder with a dingy light and a horrible smell. He then opened a small panel on the side of the speeder. This was the controls for the prisoner evacuation device. It was basically half of a garbage compacter, a pneumatic arm pushed the back wall of the speeder forward, ejecting the occupants into a pile on the floor. He then quickly closed the doors again and ran back inside the speeder. Both the pilot and co-pilot did not want to get stuck inside the fortress, they knew what would happen if they did.*

=Vlaana=
Welcome to Minas Ithil, Jedi scum! My name is Vlaana and I rule over the rest of your lives! If you disobey me I have plenty of hungry pets that need feeding! BRING THEM!

*Four of the Jailers activated their claw-pikes, two others picked up the body of Jerrico, still unconscious due to the stun shot. The Claw-pikes were long poles with a grasping claw at the end, with the diameter of the average being's neck. They were clamped around the necks of the Jedi so the jailers could lead them inside with a minimum of fuss. Once inside they were man-handled into a large turbolift which then ascended several floors into the keep of the fortress.

Things got rough again as they were moved from the turbolift into a small room around the corner. Inside the room was a full body scanner, being monitored from the next room over. One by one the Jedi were walked through the scanner as various beeps and whirring noises could be heard. In the next room they were searched and all items were removed from the prisoners, be they weapons or otherwise!

They were man-handled out again and quickly shoved into a single large cell with a small barred window in. The window looked out over the capital city at a height of two hundred and fifty feet above the ground. Their force cuffs were removed and Jerrico was dumped in the corner.*

=Vlaana=
Cause trouble and you'll be put with the other prisoners!

*The cell door was then closed and locked, there was no window in it. This dark hole in the fortress is where they would stay until someone else deemed it otherwise.*

wow, these guards are rather more thorough than most. they even found my lightsaber. first thing first, this floor is cold. second, down anyone see any obvious observation gear in the cell? and what are the lighting conditions? finally, is the door clear or solid? also, we need a role-call of everyone's condition. at he moment i am fine, but i can't see so fighting or running will most likely be out of the question.

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

~ The journey to Minas Ithil was ... most unpleasant, to say the least. They had been detained, beaten, and humiliated. They had been treated as if they were the worst of criminals, spoken to in ways that no being should ever be addressed. They were in the process of being broken into submitting.

Thankfully, they were Jedi.

" I'm okay, Resi. Still got a headache that would make a gundark whimper, but I'm alright."

Jago Pulastra made his way over to Jerrico, slumping down weakly next to the stunned form. A check for a pulse, opening the man's eyelids to see responsiveness, and Jago gave a sigh of relief.

" Looks like Jerrico will be okay. Stunner did a number on him but he'll wake up soon."

He leaned his back against the wall, closing his eyes and rubbing his temples. His head was killing him, the throbbing making it difficult to focus on anything else but the pain. It was only through sheer force of will that he was able to stay coherent enough to carry a conversation, let alone move around.

His eyes finally began to take in the room around them. He had been far too preoccupied with what he had seen outside. Towers, guards, walls, cameras, turrets, the prison was a hellish nightmare for escape attempts. If they had been unrestricted, if they all had use of The Force, they could have been gone already. Fate, however, seemed to have other plans for them. As far as Jago's opinion went, Fate was a right schutta.

Jago patted himself down quickly, trying to see if there was any of his gear that might have escaped detection. No such luck, it seemed.

" Damn, they even snagged my multi-tool," he swore, hanging his head, " Could have at least proven useful in scouting this place out a bit."

Spying the window, he motioned towards one of the other group members with more strength than himself.

" See how high up we are, if there's any landmarks you can make out."

Next, he looked over at the door, sliding over to it and giving it a feel, a light knock, frowning at the information.

" Durasteel alloy of some kind, pretty tough material. Several centimeters thick. Doesn't look like there's a mechanical lock on it either, must be purely electronic, so that leaves picking the door open out ..."

The more he observed about their current spot of trouble, the more hopeless things seemed. If things did not change for them, and soon, they were going to be stuck in that cell for quite awhile.

" Force Damnit, my kriffing head ..."

Jago couldn't shake the feeling of dizziness, the wave of nausea overtaking him, the constant drum beating into his earlobes. He gripped his crown painfully, teeth grit as he fell over onto his side, trying to fight through but ultimately unable. It seemed that the level of pain was coming and going, the tides of an agonizing sea. If his connection to The Force did not return soon, he was going to be in a far worse condition. He only hopped that exposure to this dead zone, much like with the Ysalamiri, would allow him to at least center himself and overcome the pain.

" Alatoi, Adelle," he managed to get out, forcing himself to sit back up right even as his eyes remained tightly shut.

" You two okay ..?"~

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*They couldnt cuff him. Satisfaction had reigned for a few fleeting seconds. A pistol? A flash. And then all was dark...*

*Jerrico woke with a start, the sudden motion and the new rush of sensation from his sensitizes nerves enough to make him retch his stomach across the floor. The retching in turn made his head throb, bringing new agonizing waves of pain searing into his skull; now probably worse than anyone present, being born of both the stunner and the loss of the force.*

".....owww, kriff!....."

*With a muttered curse, Jerrico slowly rose to his feet, surveying his surroundings. It seemed as if all the Jedi had been rounded into a single cell. The window was barred, the door was solid though...probably electronic to. Lovely.*

"...Floors cold. Are we underground? How long have I been out?"

*It was dark in here...the only visible source of light being from the barred window high above. SIlently, Jerrico felt his quills bristle in anticipation of danger.*

"Oh no."

*His hands started to pat his person as he realized what had been taken...lightsaber, utility belt, his combat gloves, even his greatcoat and breath mask had been taken, not to mention his holsters and weapons.*

"Lovely. No weapons but my quills. No utilities save our hands. No force..."

*Silently, Jerrico's mouth formed a grim line.*

"We can't lose faith. That windows pretty high up, but if someones stands on my shoulders, maybe they can see out of it."

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*Adelle rubbed her neck as soon as the cell door closed, trying to get rid of the pain there. Her hands felt slightly numb from being cuffed so tightly but movement should help get the blood back into her hands. Well that had been quite the experience. Force, the whole prison was an experience. One way in and one way out, supposedly. Escaping over the walls would surely be suicide, given the guard towers and mesh. She closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead, calling upon everything she knew about CorSec's security and their prisons. It might not be much help here but then again, she might remember something useful.

Her eyes snapped open when she heard her name.*

"I'm fine, but you should be laying down," *she said, a little more bite in her voice than usual.* "Same goes for you Jerrico. Conserve your strength and focus on getting better."

*There wasn't all that much space in the cell with all five of the Jedi in there but it was enough. Adelle took a two-step start and jumped up to the window, grabbing onto the bars and hauling herself up to look outside. The city spread out far below them, dizzyingly so. Climbing out of the window wasn't an option. She dropped back down, her bare feet making no sound on the cold floor.*

"Can't get out that way. Too high. Must be a couple hundred feet from the ground at least. Capital city's just outside though."

*Adelle paced the length of the cell, thinking. The warden--that Vlaana person--had mentioned "pets" and other prisoners. Jago said their door had an electronic lock; this she could personally confirm having caught a glimpse of it before being shoved inside. Capital city just outside. Other prisoners. Hungry pets. Guard towers. Electronic lock. Missing weapons. Durasteel alloy. Barred window. Breathe! Adelle took in a deep breath and let it out slowly and silently. Her mind was just spinning its wheels doing this. Somehow, these things could fall into place. Somehow, she knew there was a way they interconnected in the form of an escape route. She just couldn't figure it out right now.

Most successful escape plans she'd heard of had involved mistakes and errors--minor ones--on the part of the captors. It could be that all they had to do was exercise a little patience, wait a few days, and the opportunity would present itself. She leaned up against a wall, arms folded over her chest and the fingers of one hand tapping her elbow incessantly. Every move they'd taken was replayed over and over in her mind as she searched for the niggling details that would outline the routines here. If a routine was established, it could be exploited. If there was a slip-up in the routine, it would be taken advantage of.*

"Their first mistake was throwing all of us Jedi in one cell," *she muttered.*

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*This was no doubt a predicament. What else could be said of it..? His sabers were gone, the Force was gone. The sabers were more important to him than the Force, of course, as apparent from his failure to be crippled. So they were left to skin and bones and hands and robes.*

*Jago inquired to his well-being, to which Alatoi merely nodded and signaled that he was okay.*

*He had been cooperative. There was a moment, back with the shuttle, where he thought of escaping. But leaving the other Jedi to imprisonment would have been irresponsible. And besides, there was no guarantee that he would have been all right, flying off like that. He'd have been able to keep his weapons, but he would have been hunted. Hunted, and perhaps by far more dangerously, alone.*

*Adelle was looking out the window, but she thought that it was not promising. Said that the height was too great. A shame.*

*Ehhhhhh?*

"Forgive an impudent servant, but you are perhaps thinking too hard. We are too high? No...your servant can manage heights."

a couple hundred feet of climbing wouldn't normally be a problem, except that i can't see. also, i doubt they missed any of our gear, they even found my lightsaber, though it took them about ten minutes to get it out after they found it ... he, i am pretty sure that the guard was freaked out pretty badly about that. also, i am guessing from the cursing that our little pincushion has woken up. so, we are all alive and awake, and we are all jedi. which means that it is time for all of us to decide how and when we are going to leave.

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

~ Jago tried to calm his mind, to think. Adelle was absolutely right in the fact that their captors had made the massive mistake of keeping all the Jedi together. Even without their equipment, without The Force, they had all been trained to use their minds as weapons themselves. They needed an opportunity, something to give them a chance of escape.

As Alatoi noted that the distance wasn't entirely insurmountable to a Diathim, Jago could only chuckle weakly.

" Maybe you could manage it, but we couldn't, not in this state. Not to mention, the towers, the searchlights, the patrols, you'd be spotted before you could get to the city."

Jago got himself standing back up, trying hard to recover, to will his body into a state where he could properly function without recourse.

" We need more information. We need to find out exactly what we're dealing here, how tight security is, what kind of prisoners are kept here: political, criminal, whatever it may be. Perhaps we could get some help from the inside if we could get out of this cell."

The problem, of course, with that plan was that they were in no condition to survive if they happened to get separated. They needed intel that wouldn't be entirely possible for them to get in their current state. It was a frustrating situation altogether.

" First things first. We need to get beyond this door. We need to explore. Ideas, let's here 'em."~

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*Adelle swallowed the sharp retort that had risen up as Pulastra addressed the obvious problems with the Diathim's declaration. She did, however, send a hard stare in Lux's direction: she wasn't stupid and she took offense to any that thought or implied that she was. Part of her wanted to see Lux attempt the escape himself and fail while the rest of her mentally kicked her for even thinking that.

The objective set by Pulastra gave her mind new direction and suddenly things fell into place. The threats their warden had given . . .*

"There are others," *Adelle said out loud. She pushed herself off the wall.* "Vana, Valana, whatever her face is called, said if we caused trouble we'd be put with the 'other prisoners'. They might provide information on this place, routines, security, and so on. It's probably a long shot, but if we caused trouble and were taken out of this cell, we'd learn something even if we didn't get put with other prisoners."

*Adelle paced as she thought and spoke her thoughts aloud.* "Three of us are out of commission. Resi, Jago, and Jerrico--Jago, please lay down. You can talk from the floor--for obvious reasons." I hope they're obvious, anyways. "That leaves me and Alatoi to cause havoc. One of us needs to stay behind to help the others in case things go horribly wrong--as if they haven't already."

*She paused, mentally going back over everything she knew. The plan she'd proposed was risky but escaping from a prison like this was risky anyways so it really didn't matter. Alatoi, she didn't know much about since she only just met him for this mission. But she figured he was a more adept fighter than she and he also had a valuable advantage if they succeeded in escaping the place.*

"In light of everything I know, I volunteer to be the one to cause trouble," *she said.* "I have a high threshold for pain and I know how to take care of myself if the need arises. Course, if anyone else has a better suggestion, I'm open to those."

Re: The Great Fortress of Minas Ithil

*Silently, Jerrico listened to Jago's words, and nodded silently.*

"He's right; flying out of here wouldn't be the wisest idea, don't they have laser cannons guarding this place? Without the force it would be probable that they could shoot you down. Besides the fact - even if you avoid detection from the forces below, thats a several foot thick duracrete wall, set with several centimeter thick durasteel bars. How would we even get the bars out of place to begin with? The wall, for all intensive purposes, is a bust."

*Jerrico silently listened to Adelle, then rose to his feet.*

"I am not out of commission. It's going to take more than a stun blast to take me down. *even as he spoke the words, he swayed slightly on his feet, but he shook his head furiously to clear the weakness from his body. By the second, he was getting stronger and stronger.*"

"Also, in light of everything that I know, I should be the one to go and cause havoc. I've had a greater amount of combat experience without my force powers - I wen't for years in wars and battles without utilizing them, and in addition, I'm the only person here who has a ranged weapon."

*SNICK*

*With a twist of his arm, a trio of quills rapidly dislodged themselves from his arm, and streaked across the room to clatter against the stone walls, before uselessly falling to the floor. Mere seconds later, a new trio of quills slowly regrew out of the vacant spaces on the thicket of his arm.*

"We need to get beyond the door. None of us has the means to break through beyond, meaning we have to force our captors to open it. The best way to do that is through some kind of struggle, or disturbance - to get them to separate one of us from the others; just as Adelle said. If they've held onto us this long, without killing us, *Jerrico rubbed his head sympathetically*, then we can only surmise they want something out of us; information perhaps. If they haul me out for information, then we can at least learn more about our captors. If they feed me to one of these pets...well, I'd be more well equipped to kill it. Adelle is our healer...we shouldn't potentially dispose of such a valuable asset; not while we're so weak."
