Re: The Works

*Ophelia took her time reaching the bottom of the three-story warehouse. She had plenty to think about, and not least among the plenty was her next step in all of this.**For years she had been on the hunt, attempting to track down the people responsible for the deaths of her mother and sister. Now that their deaths had been avenged, and she felt satisfied that their murderer was a useless lump of soon-to-be compost, she had to consider her options. Going back to join the military on her home planet would be a foregone conclusion -- it would be like returning to your home after a devastating fire had destroyed it. There would be no reason. So her skills would be better put to use doing something else. She just had to figure out what that "something" was...*

*As she neared the base of the stairs, her mind suddenly began racing. "Clair" was almost speaking directly to her, telling her that these things had a way of working themselves out. To "trust her" -- whatever
that meant. However, Lia had always trusted "Clair's" judgment before, and in most cases, things usually worked out for the better. So, even as she exited the door, and the small, nudging voice within her washed over her like a wave of warmth, the Lorrdian female spotted two females - oddly out of place in the Works district. Lia's expression went from bewildered to blank, and she observed them cautiously as she awaited the odd moment to pass.*
*Auburn-haired female seems guarded, yet confused. Her posture indicates a disciplined lifestyle. Possibly military, or...Jedi? No. Too classy.**She then looked to the woman following her.**This one's out of her element. Elegant frame, suggests a level of grace not known to most human species. Seems overly-cautious, nervous. Something's different, though...about both of them. Maybe this is what "Clair" was...too soon to tell.*

*Keeping her left hand on her hip - close to her weapon - she reached up with her right hand to sweep away some of the hair that was matted onto her face. After all, she had just survived a firefight and a near brush with death...there was bound to be a little sweat involved.**Looking the two women over once more, the Lorrdian stood her ground at the opening of the now-dilapidated building. Her thick Lorrdian accent permeated her speech as she observed the two of them through semi-squinted eyes.*

"...Afternoon..." *She awkwardly cleared her throat.* "May I ask what you're doing here?"

*She really couldn't know for certain. There was a chance that they were totally-harmless, and they were just passing through, looking at the damaged building that had received the brunt of a forced-entry and a hell of a lot of free-fire. Then again, 'Freedo' could have sent them in as a way of reneging on his deal to let her walk out peacefully, and these two would be his preferred method of 'dealing with her'. She didn't like the latter option, but, if need be she would defend herself. She was tired - exhausted; but it didn't take much in the way of strength to lift a gun and pull the trigger. Time would soon tell the tale...*

Re: The Works

"Yip!" Petrisya was so surprised she sends her shield flipping into the air, drops to the ground, cowering, and the shiny pink shield drops back over her. It was dome-shaped enough to cover her completely, leaving no seams. Apparently the womans arrival was enough to startle her. So much for Jinx's escort.

Re: The Works

While she was standing there trying to figure out her next move, she felt something lightly bump into her. Glancing around, she saw that it was Petrisya. Raising a questioning eyebrow at the frail woman, who had brought along the shield she had taken to carrying around with her lately, Jinx quickly smiled at her crew mates hurried explanation as to why she'd been following along. Gazing at their surroundings, she gave a small sigh.

"I know it's dangerous, Petrisya....but I felt drawn here for some reason that I can't explain.... Her voice trailed off, as she sensed a subtle change in the air. Looking up and down the street, her eyes were drawn to the door of the building as a dark haired woman exited the structure. Petrisya, gave a startled yip and her shield went flying into the air while she dropped to the ground. The dome shaped shield dropped over the frail woman effectively cover her from sight. Jinx closed her eyes for a second, rubbing her forehead, opening them again when the dark haired woman spoke. Meeting the woman's gaze, she cautiously dropped her hand to her side as she drew the Force around herself and Petrisya, taking note that the womans left hand was near the gun on her hip. She didn't sense any malicious intent from the newcomer, but one could never be too careful, especially when walking around The Works.

"Good afternoon. I'm Jinx...and the one under the shield is my friend, Petrisya..." She motioned toward the shield on the ground. Narrowing her eyes behind the sunglasses and catching her lower lip between her teeth, her gaze darted around the area before meeting the woman's again.

"As for us being here...I'm not sure why. I felt...drawn here. It's as if I'm suppose to be here for something....or someone...." She paused, waiting for some silent sign or feeling that she was doing the right thing in coming down here....

Re: The Works

*Her wearied breathing and the clomping of her military boots announced the arrival of Guinéverèna "Gwyn" Spiélrèin. Her long dark hair floated in the air lazily under the influence of a light breeze, and she held a rifle tucked under one arm. This one looked frail and underfed too, but unlike Petrisya Skyrah, she was definitely human, and held a hidden strength, as shown in her eyes. She didn't say anything, but merely nodded at Jinx, glancing curiously at the large pink shield lying on the floor. Gwyn could safely assume that Petrisya was hiding underneath. Her breathing did not appear to improve as she came to a halt nearby. In fact, she looked somewhat ill or in poor health. Against Guppy's instructions, Gwyn had often forgotten to eat, sometimes spending the whole time in the engine room of the ship. She notices an unfamiliar woman whom Jinx was speaking to, and in an effort to be friendly, tosses an awkward wave.

Her dressing had a military feel to it, clad in a dark green sleeveless top, long camouflaged pants, a large belt and those heavy boots of hers. Still, she left her hair untied and it often fell over her eyes, and the girl had to keep brushing it back. So maybe she was former military. Whatever her past and her purpose now, she keeps it to herself, and revealed very little about her nature by keeping a relaxed yet semi-rigid posture. But the poor health in which she kept herself was very obvious. Gwyn personally kept a steady eye on her surroundings without staring at the stranger. She expected trouble everywhere. It was her nature, it was how she was taught to survive. But she didn't want to trigger any unnecessary conflict either, so she refrained from touching her blaster rifle too often, and simply kept one hand on it, ready to be drawn if need be.*

*To be certain, Lia was confused at the manner in which the auburn-haired female's friend reacted. Even as heavily-armed as she was, the Lorrdian knew that she could not very well be that intimidating. Unable to withhold a small grin from forming at the edges of her mouth, Ophelia's hazel eyes looked down at the cowering form beneath the shield.*

"You're joking, right? Come on, girl, stand up. I'm too tired to shoot anyone right now, anyway..."

*Just then, she heard the girl's compatriot speak...*

*The weathered 'soldier' furrowed her brow as she listened to the girl's explanation. It was much like 'Clair' had said to her, about how things would work out. Obviously, these gut-instinct feelings had a way of manifesting themselves in others than just her. She continued to study Jinx, finding no cause for immediate concern -- although the voice inside her seemed to resonate with something unfamiliar to Ophelia. Whenever the young woman shifted her stance, something within her changed. It was the same sensation she felt when she had first seen 'Petrisya', just a feeling of...some sort of power. It seemed to emanate from them. And yet, she felt the same sort of thing within herself. In times where she had drawn her focus, it always seemed to manifest in a grand moment of clarity. She would then feel empowered, and it seemed like nothing could get in the way anymore. Ophelia had always possessed a strong will and desire to accomplish her tasks, but what she felt she had in common with these women was that same powerful sensation. So, Jinx had felt "drawn" here...perhaps Lia should see where that would lead...**Letting her hand fall free, Lia folded her arms in front of her. It was a guarded gesture, but it showed the pair that she wasn't going to reach for any weapons, at least. Well, it seemed like a 'pair', until Lia noticed yet another woman seem to walk up alongside them...*

Gwyn wrote:*Her wearied breathing and the clomping of her military boots announced the arrival of Guinéverèna "Gwyn" Spiélrèin. *Noticing much of her militaristic dress and well-armed exterior, Lia surmised that there was another former soldier in their midst. However, when noting her longer hair and near-emaciated look, the Lorrdian couldn't help but wonder just how long she had been out of the military (and if she had remembered to eat anywhere along the way). The awkward wave that she lent to the conversation was met by a nod from Ophelia, and then another look at her posture told her all she needed to know -- these two were attempting to provide escort for the first woman; although it didn't look as though this 'Jinx' needed it. So, now to the point...how would this conversation go from here?**Looking back to Jinx, Lia attempted to keep the air of civility open between them.*

"Ophelia. Ophelia Ashern, to be more-precise. I was just wrapping up some...business I had with an acquaintance of mine who housed himself here in the Works. That's all done and over with, though." *She needed to change the subject, if anything to disavow them of any collaboration on their part. It was quite an illegal situation she had just emerged from, after all.* "So, Miss Jinx...you say you were 'drawn here', for some unknown purpose...any further light to shed on that? Or can I just ask what it is that you do which has brought you to Coruscant?"

*There had to be something that she was missing. Some reason that this younger woman was here. It couldn't be that she was here for her though, could it? Lia had to admit, she was in the dark as to what her next step would be...she was without transport, without backup -- save Rhade, who was likely gone miles away from there by now. If 'Clair' was leading her to this next portion of her journey in the form of a few women who'd randomly come through the Works on a 'gut feeling', then who was Lia to argue? It all seemed so surreal, though...as if none of it would ever make sense in a logical mind. And why should it? Perhaps the answers to all of this would be a mere moment away, but...Lia remained skeptical. It seemed like the voice within her kept reassuring her that this wasn't to be viewed so rashly, so, the Lorrdian simply awaited to see what Jinx would say...*

Re: The Works

Petrisya's superior hearing allowed her to hear the stranger who later introduced herself as Ophelia Ashern. She was very intimidated, but found the courage to raise herself up from her protective shell. Slowly, the pink-eyed girl returned to her initial posture of cowering behind her shield, allowing only the upper half of her face to be visible, and her legs resumed chattering together. She draws the Force around herself more now, wrapping her frail, ethereal body in a soft glowing light that served as illumination as well as giving of a sense of constant healing. The enviroment is her greatest enemy at the moment, and though it wasn't so drastically different from Drall, it was significant enough to the Ageless that she could not afford to let her guard down for even one moment, or risk dying from system shock.

She looks over at Ophelia, uncertain if she would be out of place answering her question, but she finally decided that as the ship's cook, she should leave questions to be answered by the proper authorities. So instead she turns to glance over at Gwyn, her friend. She doesn't need the Force to tell her the girl was in bad shape, as almost always. Using telekinesis, she floats out a NutriBar and moves it towards Gwyn. As cook, it was Petrisya's job to ensure everyone had something to eat and kept to some measure of a regular diet while flying between missions.

Re: The Works

*Gwyn reached out with a sure hand and caught the NutriBar in one swoop.*

"Thank you."

*Her voice was thickly accented, remindful of the Coruscanti accent, but slightly different, and it was also brittle, like a shaking leaf stuck on a tree in the harsh winter. The girl was obviously still listening to Ophelia even as she fumbled with one hand to tear open the packeting and she ate the NutriBar with great relish. The sight of something edible made her realize just how hungry she was, and weakened by her hunger. Nonetheless, she continued to maintain her alertness, still expecting the unexpected. Silently, she wished it was raining, the way Jabiim used to. Her homeworld, now a desolate wasteland. There was no going back, and the ghost of Typhas silently urged her to forge a new life for herself, displaced in time, and devoid of any historical connection to who she once was. Jinx and this crew was her family, and her friends, now. For better or for worse, and she would not lose them to the hidden enemies, as she once did before.

She was no Force-Sensitive, but the way Jinx and Ophelia were talking, the sharp-minded girl already had a inkling that this was a meeting of kindred spirits, and quite possibly no accidental encounter. She'd have to refer to Petrisya about that, though considering what a timid and skittish person she is, it'll be hard to get much out of her. But one thing she knew was that Petrisya was millennia old, and held a great many memories of countless lifetimes. If only she could overcome her nervousness, she would be an invaluable advisor for Jinx and the rest of the crew.*

Re: The Works

Jinx felt another join the growing group and glanced away from the dark haired woman to see that Gwyn had found them. She smiled at the rather sickly looking women and nodded her head, slightly, in silent thanks before bringing her eyes back to the dark haired woman who introduced her self as Ophelia Ashern. She listened, silently, while Ophelia explained that she'd just finished up some...business. Jinx wasn't sure she wanted to know what that business entailed, but judging by Ophelia's appearance and haggard state....she could guess that it involved shooting....and a lot of it.

She snapped out of her thoughts when Ophelia asked her what had brought her to Coruscant to begin with. Running a hand through her hair, she met the womans gaze again before answering.

"We were hired to transport a bounty hunter and his quarry....a Gen'dai, no less. There was a little mishap on board the ship with the Gen'dai and the bounty hunters men. I got pissed, the Gen'dai got sucked out of the airlock. End of that part of the story.

She paused for a moment, sensing something within Ophelia. She realized that the burst of emotion she'd felt earlier had come from this woman. Raising an eyebrow, she realized that the woman was Force sensitive. But apparently Ophelia wasn't aware of it herself....or maybe she just chalked it up to skill and luck? Was Ophelia the reason she'd been drawn to The Works? Mentally shaking that thought off for now, she continued.

"I can't fully explain it, when I'm not even sure myself exactly why we're here right now. It was....a sense of feeling, something telling me I needed to be here right now."

She looked thoughtful for a moment until Petrisya emerged from under her shield, still frightened and skittish, but standing upright once again with the shield in front of her and the Force flowing around her. Jinx smiled softly at the frail woman, giving her a silent reassurance that they were not in danger at the moment. She was also happy to see that Petrisya had given Gwyn something to snack on. The sickly looking woman didn't eat enough as it was and sometimes forgot to eat unless reminded.

Looking back to Ophelia, she spoke again.

"We're here awaiting for the damage, the Gen'dai caused, on our ship to be fixed. We're part of an all female transport service based here in the Core....the Hapan Alliance of Women Traders....or H.A.W.T., as some have deemed us...."

Her voice trailed off as she had to catch herself from just blurting out a job offer to Ophelia. She had to be careful who she hired nowadays, especially in this particular area of Coruscant. They were running a legal transport business and she couldn't afford to get mixed up with undesirables. She couldn't afford to have a bounty on her head, especially now that she had more than just herself to think about....

She closed her eyes hard, opening them again to still see the snack floating for a split-second more before the third girl snatched it out of the space in front of her. Lia's lips pursed for a moment as she tried to process her thoughts.**What the kark? Her abilities...I've heard, but, I've never seen. Is she -- Jedi? The dress and armaments don't suggest such. But she...she just levitated that object! With such little effort, too. What else can explain that? The others don't have any issues with this. It's known to them. It seems this "telekinesis" is accepted as the norm. What in the galactic Core have I gotten myself into?**There appeared to be another moment of awkward silence between the group. The leader-apparent, Jinx, was also seemingly at ease with this transitory element. She didn't seem to bat an eye at the use of this mental prowess, but rather seemed to shift uneasily as she looked back at Lia.*

*With her words, she explained; with her eyes, she worried. Worried that Lia was - perhaps - not an element that she should encounter. Sometimes, Lia truly disliked being able to read people so well. Already, she had surmised that the lot of these women were paranoid, distrusting, and guarded. For whatever reason, Lia was beginning to understand that they were focusing most of that attitude toward her.**Holding her hand up toward the female group, she only wished to cut to the chase and speak her mind. It would likely give away her tell - that she had a great deal of experience in reading people's thoughts due to her upbringing and training in the art of 'Kinetic Communication' - but there was an overwhelming desire to get clear of her present situation; and Jinx's "transport service" might just be the way that she could get clear of it all. Her tone was calm, resilient, as she spoke to the leader - also one of the only ones to directly address her in the slightest...*

"Please, miss, just let me stop you right there...I've noticed that you don't particularly trust me -- and dutifully-so, as I would be wary of anyone I encountered here. But, if I can assure you of one thing, it's that I mean no harm to you."

*She felt the presence of 'Clair' seem to reaffirm her words, even as she spoke them.*

"If anything, I'd like to figure out if we can come to an arrangement, of sorts. I'm finding myself in current need of transport. I came here as part of another freighter crew, and realized all too quickly that there was a lead I needed to follow-up with here on Coruscant. However, that part of my time here has concluded. I've just put to rest the last semblances of an organization that was responsible for the deaths of my mother and sister. And now, I am really just trying to figure out where I can best put my skills to use. Bottom line? I'm in need of something to help me clear my mind and allow me to divulge on another path in my life. You seem as though you could possibly use another person to help with a bit of tactical training for your outgoing teams. I'm former Lorrdian military; I can help your crew learn a few subtle cues from body language that can give you an edge in anything from negotiations to firefights. The only thing I'd ask for in return is the chance to get clear of this whole situation...my family's souls may have found peace today, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to let any of this rest..."

*As soon as she was done, Lia felt something rolling down her cheek. She quickly thumbed away the stray tear, not wanting to make it seem as though she were attempting some emotional play. But that same iron-clad look was etched on her face; the only difference being the longing she held in her eyes.**'Clair' tried to console her, but Lia simply pushed the voice down further within her. As the feeling of calm receded, she felt a cool breeze on the nape of her neck; but there was no wind blowing. It was simply as she'd felt a hundred times before - the absence of an old friend. Internal presence or not...*

Re: The Works

She couldn't help but feel that she'd somehow offended Ophelia. Oh sure, Ophelia didn't necessarily act like she was offended, but the thought was still there in the back of Jinx's mind as the woman rose her hand toward them then spoke about trust and reassured all that were standing there, that she meant them no harm. She, also, listened closely while Ophelia spoke about the death of her family, mentioning that she had been in the Lorridian military and offering to help with tactical training for the crew.

Through all of this it was the death of her family that stuck in Jinx's mind. She could relate to Ophelia on that subject., having lost her own parents when she was a child and just as recently as a couple of years ago, her younger sister. The tear that Ophelia hurriedly brushed away didn't escape her notice either. Folding her arms across her chest, her stance was relaxed as she caught her lower lip between her teeth while she thought over Ophelia's words before she spoke evenly.

"I know you wouldn't hurt any of us. I figure if you wanted to do that you would've tried to do it already. As for trust. I don't trust easily, I admit....but I'm willing to give anyone a chance as long as they're honest with me, which I believe you have been.

You are welcome to join us for however long you wish. I have a distinct feeling that we can learn a lot from one another."

She held Ophelia's gaze, meaning every word she said to the older woman. This could be very beneficial to all of them and Jinx aimed to see where having this woman be a part of their group, led....

Re: The Works

I see it, I see it,
The world, your world, my world,
One and the same, all and different,
But one thing they did in harmony,

They burned, and everyone with it,
They burned, and none shall survive,
The eye of the Universe was astir,
Ashen tears cast away the soil of worlds,
burned to nothing, dust in the great expanse,

I gazed into the future, to understand the past,
There I saw, I saw who would,
She was me, and she was not me,
As I saw her, she saw me,

She smiles and beckons me forward,
I saw the deception too late,
I would burn the worlds,
I will destroy all, to save all,

And I will kill her...

Janielle sat in darkness for a long time, the place illuminated by the soft gentle glow of turquoise light from the sphere adorned atop her staff. Her right eye was a deep blue, her left a blazing ember of orange. She saw nothing, and she saw everything. Having been seized, the Seer now sat, as she sought to understand the situation, and to offer reason. ♫♫Why will the universe burn?♫♫ She asked she, he, and it. For there was three, not including her, and she knew, that this was to be a battle. A battle of will, of righteous, and evil.

"For her," they answer, "She is the most powerful of them all, though she knows not, though you know not. Yours is the only power that will match hers."

♫♫She is my friend. She fears much.♫♫ Janielle says, ♫♫Let me speak with her. I will tell her, as I always have. She will understa...♫♫

"NO!" They shout, "The time for speaking is over, now blood shall be shed. If you will not slay her, we will..."

♫♫You are mistaken, Gúlmor. Yes, I know your name, ancient enemy of the Ageless. Bein nén alath, thallath lornil. Even so, I do not have power...♫♫

"Yes you do, child," they spoke together, three voices in one. "It merely slumbers within you. You do not use it out of fear, and thus you deny your true nature, your true destiny. I will awaken it within you, and I will have your power. The Ageless will fall, as they must. Mistakes of the Force. Even the Alata have seen it. The Lightbringers hesitate merely because they love all, even me."

♫♫I will fight you, then.♫♫ Janielle says, ♫♫Be it ever so severely, if I do not return you to the pit from which you came.♫♫

"Yes...you will try. And like all others before you, you shall fall."

Both her eyes turned orange, and lightning of the same color streaked out to either side of her. The soft glow of the sphere became a blazing inferno of light. She cried out as her body began to alight with power, for long had it been since she felt the surge of the Force like she now did. The pain was too much, and as she, he, and it had said, the Ageless Seer fell. Deep into a slumber from which she would not wake, unless another would see, and awaken her. Malevolent light and scent overtook her, and she leapt out. The Aquarion saw her, she surely would have. But the hatchling will surely not dare oppose her, for her strength and power now far outstripped what little she knew. And she sought the one being that was her intent. Murder from the future, into the past.

There she stood, cowering behind her shield. The mask of cowardice and timidity, but she, he, and it knew, the great power possessed within that small body. For only she, as a ghost, had power enough in the Force, to influence even the living with physical capacity. Enough power that, by sheer will alone, she restored herself to life with nothing but manipulation of the air around her. Power unrivaled even by her niece, the offspring of her sister and the king of all the Ageless. Petrisya Skyrah would be the terror of the universe if she so chose. But she, he, and it will not allow it. For they detested the Ageless. There were others with her, but they were inconsequential. This battle was to be between her, and them. Deep within, Janielle did fight, but her will and strength had been all but taken, as memories of her abusive lovemate returned, and they used him to subdue the Seer. Like all Ageless, even Janielle held fear of life.

The light of her body brightened as she drew closer, the orange lightning streaked longer, louder, and clearer, and the anger was apparent. The rage, and the power.
"For what you will do, Skyrah. Die!" They said, and struck out with Janielle's staff. A bright beam of light shot out from the sphere, and at the Ageless. It was far more than light, to be certain. Any who knew or understood power would see, feel, or just know, that from Janielle, came lightning, so concentrated, so focused, so empowered, that it was no longer a dancing, unsteady streak of power, but rather a swift, blindingly bright, coherent beam of great energy with devastating consequences if mortal flesh was struck. She lashes out again, "For the destruction of this world, and many others like it. Die!!" Another beam of great energy.

There was surely three who spoke all at once, and none held the musical voice of Janielle, so sweet, and so gentle. They held only one intent for certain, and any who knew Janielle would know, this was not her nature. This was certainly not her power. At least, not a power any knew she had. Perhaps, not even herself. But she used it now, with the intent to kill a Skyrah. Great Witch, they said, "For being a daughter of Atheiirn, for the death of the Universe. DIE!!!" The biggest beam of energy lashed out, a great and devastating tremor followed in its wake. The very ground before her shook and shifted, giving way in fear of her power. Gravel and rocks flew to the left and the right.

Re: The Works

Petrisya wheeled around so swiftly the moment Janielle's presence was felt, she knew something was wrong already. Ophelia would have noticed Petrisya's glowing pink eyes brightening more and more until it too began streaking with pink lightning. Her voice no longer wavered, friends were in danger. Human, non-Ageless friends. She was no longer afraid. She was one of the Great Witches of Atheiirn, like her sisters before her, and she had a responsibility. She braced her feet on the ground, let the Force flow through her and drawing on her power to increase her durability, her shield she placed in front of herself, she turned her lightning eyes to the other women, "Get down!" She yelled.

The first beam struck the shield, pushing the girl a few feet back, her legs dug into the ground, cracking the surface. She drew her lightfoil just as the second beam struck, pushing Petrisya deeper into the ground. Janielle's voice was different. It was triplicated. There was a difference to her scent, something Petrisya couldn't quite place, all of the Ageless girls senses were telling her that there was something off about Janielle, and she didn't need the Force to tell her that. Though she was as usual, not talking sense. That much, hadn't changed. But one thing Petrisya couldn't deny that was utterly wrong. Janielle was using the Force again, in ways never even seen before since Habila, the conqueror of worlds. That was something Petrisya did not remember as being possible any longer.
"Who are you?"

She knew it wasn't Janielle, that was for sure. And she had a clue when she/they called her a Great Witch, and a daughter of Atheiirn, as if disassociating her/themselves from the Ageless. In the few seconds she had to spare, she analyzed her friend and deduced that something has taken control of Janielle. That was the most logical solution, and after that, she had no time to do anything, except brace herself for the most powerful impact she ever felt. She felt the ground trembling and hunkered down just as the last beam slammed so hard into her shield, and sent her flying backwards, for all her best efforts to stay grounded. She landed hard on her back, leaping up with the aid of the Force, she hurls her shield like a disc weapon straight for Janielle's head. If she's drawing on the Force now, this wouldn't hurt her, even at the speed and momentum that it was moving, but it may help distract her for a moment so that she could make her next move.

"Ilyn mek'nath hadiln, Janielle..." she said, as she started to spread violet lightning bolts out from her hands. It wasn't as focused as Janielle's energy beams, which was basically a superior form of Force Lightning, but it would suffice to help her absorb or reflect the beams if they come again while the shield makes a circle. "This is not you, Janielle. Fight it, whatever is in you. Fight it!" She expanded a field of the Force around Jinx, Gwyn and Ophelia, protecting them from the flying debris around the two Ageless, and also reaching out with her feelings to try and look into Janielle's mind, hoping to identify the source of her friends sudden aggression.

Jinx wrote:She couldn't help but feel that she'd somehow offended Ophelia.

*Lia was certainly glad her ability to convey her thoughts and feelings in a convincing manner had not eluded her. Even as Jinx had found the words she was meaning to say, Ophelia breathed a sigh of relief. She was attempting not to over-analyze her newfound friends, trying to just let things unfold as they would; but she still caught glimpses of Jinx's body language "softening". It suggested to Lia that her own words didn't fall on deaf ears. So when the leader of their group had finished offering Lia a chance to leave with them, she didn't waste a lot of time in internal debate.**Walking forward to where she was to be in reaching distance of them, she stuck out her hand as if to shake Jinx's.*

"Thank you, so very much...I really do hope I can be of benefit to...your..."

*Just then, Lia looked behind her new friends. There stood a small-framed girl - who looked much like the frail Petrisya in many ways - who was slowly advancing on the group. But there was something violently-different about her. And uncanny. Lia's eyes narrowed for a moment as she wasn't sure what she was seeing. The girl's body was...glowing. Bright-orange. Ripples of energy seemed to pulsate off of her. There seemed to be something amiss with how she walked though. As if she were having trouble asserting her steps. Given, she did seem to have lightning coming off of her body -- being electrocuted can have an ill-effect on one's constitution and motor skills. But...were her eyes truly...glowing?**Lia retracted her hand from Jinx, as she was really not sure what to do in that situation -- that was, until she heard what the girl said...*

Janielle Lunarr wrote:"For what you will do, Skyrah.

*Everything was happening so fast. Lia didn't know what she could possibly do. Blinding light, flashes of heat -- she was certain she felt her hair standing up from the static electricity in the air. But she would soon feel her instinctual training kicking in. Noticing two "non-combatants" before her, it was the only thing she had been trained to know how to do. Although, along with the severe surge of adrenaline and the desire to survive being so strong within her, there came another sensation she was both familiar with and yet it felt so alien to her...**She reached out, with every intention of grabbing Jinx and the other newcomer -- but her reach wasn't close enough. She wanted so desperately to help them, and she could feel that desire culminating in a feeling of warmth and power emanating from her own hands. Within her mind, she could see bright projections of her own hands reaching out from before her, gripping the two women from the nape of their collars. She somehow knew that this was not a dream, and that within its occurrence, her ability to help her friends was within her grasp. Not attempting to question it, she pulled back towards herself. The bright projections that were her "other hands" pulled with her, bringing the two women to the ground in front of her. Lia then made an instinctual dive atop them, unable to think much more outside of those confines except to grab her weapon from its holster. The long-barreled handgun that she always carried at her side was soon trained on the foreign figure that was attacking Petrisya, and Lia's eyes were forced to close when she struck out again...*

*Soon, the blinding light had passed. Lia attempted to force her eyes open and fight through the blurry haze that had settled over them.**The torrent of debris and heat that flew around them was astonishing, and Lia was truly at a loss as to describe what she was experiencing. In what world did it seem logical or precise that one could wield such awesome power? She tried to focus through the haze, noticing that there was some sort of aura around the three women now. Her eyes squinted as she looked beyond it, noticing Petrisya now standing with some form of bladed weapon, and her shield still in mid-air. She couldn't hear what was said over the sound of mock-thunder and concussive noise going on, and so she thought she may have missed it when she overheard Petrisya mentioned the girl's name that was on her relentless pursuit for their lives. Lia could only understand two things in her mind at the moment: that there was someone attempting to threaten them, and that the person was just as likely to attack again.**She took aim at their assailant again through her narrow viewpoint of the area between Petrisya's calves, cocking back the hammer of the hand-cannon...if no one came to intervene, she may very-well soon take matters into her own hands.*

*For every attack against her was as certain to receive swift and deadly counter-action...that was how she was trained, and that was how it would unfold...*

Re: The Works

Janielle/They took note of how ready Petrisya Skyrah was for them. Her shield was made of powerful materials for it to be able to resist such force and concentrated power. She/He/It was mildly impressed by her resilience, but they knew it was to be expected of one who possessed such great power within. Due to the fact that they were still becoming accustomed to possessing an Ageless' body, there was no time to make any fancy counters for the shield hurtling towards their chin at such great speed, and just barely enough to raise a field of the Force to withstand the attack. *CHONG!!!* The shield struck with destructive force, knocking the Seer's body backwards, and dropping unceremoniously in a heap on the floor. Like a horrific supernatural being, though, she rose up without having to push herself off the ground, her hands outstretched to either side of her, raised by the assistance of some unseen force. The lightning bursting from her eyes streaked with more malevolent energy as she glowered at Petrisya's audacity.

They grabbed the shield with the Force and hurled it back to its owner, intending to decapitate her. At the same time, Janielle, or whoever was within the Oracle, turned their lightning eyes on Ophelia, who had a gun drawn on her. The mortal held talents in the Force as well. Nonetheless, the killer of Ageless had no wish for her/his/its fight with Petrisya Skyrah to be interfered with, and raised the concrete on the ground, about two meters of it, and erected it as a wall between them, from her and Petrisya.
"My fight is not with them," she says, "Only you, Great Witch. I am Gúlmor, Bane of the Ageless, and you are my prey." She lashed out once more with a bright beam from the sphere, followed by an explosive sound as she unleashed her full power. Janielle/They watched in mild surprise as Petrisya's Force lightning countered their attacks. Although no where near as potent as the beams, the pink bolts of energy was sufficient to disrupt the beam until it bounced away from the Ageless girl.

"I am mildly impressed..." she speaks, "But my drive to eradicate you is absolute. Eventually, like this useless shell I now inhabit, you shall perish." Even as she spoke, Petrisya's subtle probe through the Force enables the Great Witch to see inside Janielle's mind, and the great conflict taking place there. Janielle was fighting against three shadowy foes, desperately struggling to regain control of her own body. The feedback of the mind-probe was so drastic, that any Force-Sensitive within a short distance would be able to see what was happening. Janielle (inside her mind) whirled around and notices Petrisya, and calls out to her friend, ♫♫Petrisya!♫♫ But she is pulled further into the shadows as the three beings consume her, and Petrisya was pushed out by the beings inhabiting Janielle's body.

"You cannot save her, Ageless. You cannot even save yourself!" Without warning, Janielle lunges forward at lightning speed, and strikes with the sharp end of the Magestaff. The power of the Force flowed through the sphere-topped woodwork, and could match impact with a lightsaber, or in Petrisya's case, a lightfoil, which was in principle, no different from a lightsaber. Nonetheless, the speed at which Janielle now moved would prove difficult to follow, and it was her, or rather, their intent for a decisive strike that would catch the Great Witch by surprise and kill her once and for all.

Re: The Works

Elsewhere in The Works....

Over in the Coruscant Underworld thread, Seros Darklighter wrote:He looked up, and witnessed they were exiting the Undercity's vast main concourses and routes, and the styles of the buildings became much more stoic and symmetrical, and not nearly as tall and lofty as the structures now behind them. Not to mention, the air itself seemed to thicken, picking up a faint yellowish hue, leaving the endless city floor lost in a dark golden haze below.

The Works.
Seros' mind was still on her question, however. No doubt his answer would have sparked further curiosity. He simply glanced over to Faith again, over his shoulder, with a smirk.
"Can't sit still for too long." He figured she'd at least understand that. Then recollections of his rather controversial exercises in telekinesis flashed through his mind. Then he finally added. "Didn't necessarily see eye-to-eye on certain things, either."

"You mean like the 'life is sacred' rule?" It wasn't quite disdain in her tone, but the fact that Seros had admitted to being trained by jedi wasn't exactly a point in his favor and her resentment of them had grown with each word he spoke since 'too many to count', and now it showed through like a sunrise through a sheet of flimsi. It wasn't that she disliked the former jedi, but the events of today had forced up thoughts and feelings she had long buried, thoughts and feelings she had never wanted back, and it had made her very irritable now that she had a minute to stop and think. She wanted to lash out at something, and it didn't matter if her criticisms made any sense or even who they were directed at. And since Seros was the only person in range, the irritation got channeled into him. "You jedi are all the same." She picked up a broken piece of something and hurled it over the edge of the garbage hauler, barely managing not to hurl it at Seros. "You follow your code and tenets to the letter until it no longer suits your purpose, then you throw it out along with everyone who you think is beneath your notice. At least I... She jabbed a finger toward her own chest. ...have a code that I stick to. It may not be full of fancy words, but it keeps us alive when your kind... The finger stabbed toward Seros. ..runs back to the safety of their temples and towers and leaves us to die."

Re: The Works

Elsewhere in The Works....

Seros ignored the poking jest of her first remark, but he could feel deeper tinges of emotion stir out amongst her words as she progressed. The more she spoke, the angrier she became.

While she accused the Jedi Order of being self-righteous, that "I" that lashed out with her thumb pointing at her chest didn't really do much for her 'unbias' approach. Still, he understood exactly where she was coming from. He kept silent for a bit, mulling over what she had said, trying to place himself in her shoes if for but a moment.

The Jedi Temple was an apex of the Order, and it was on the same planet. One would think that they would make efforts to send some sort of aid and help establish some type of actual 'order' down in the darker depths of the Undercity. But Seros also knew something else to be true.

No police force, no executive branch or Jedi Order could maintain full-out peace in the galaxy. Stuff slips under the radar, especially stuff under one's nose, both figuratively and literally. Coruscant was a universe of its own. So many things happening all at once. On top of that, even though a background or lifestyle doesn't define a person's future or who they are, it plays a huge influence on the way they think. Even if people who had been engaged in centuries of war were offered independence and peace...it'd be like giving them an ignition capacitor without them having any experience flying a starship. ...In short, they wouldn't want to change, because it'd be too unfamiliar to them.

Now would Seros say any of this to Faith, in the 'defense' of the Jedi, as it were?

"...Hell no."
But what he could say in his own defense...
"As far as I'm concerned, the Order betrayed my trust, too. It's a bit of a, uh.. a bittersweet 'love-hate' relationship. The Order gave me a stable outlet for knowledge and exercise.." his voice dropped an octave as he fiddled with a loose ziptie that stuck up next to his knee from a garbage petruding up from under the hauler's upper door. "..but they hid things from me."

He looked here and there as he slowly tried reasoning through it all again, verbalizing his thoughts for Faith, hoping that she would understand his own personal stance, and not just label him as just another self-righteous holy-roller and do-gooder. "I mean, I can guess their reasons for..not telling me, given all the doctrinal--" his voice trailed into an elated sigh. "..aaagh." He tossed a piece of..something off the edge of the hauler, off to his left. He didn't want to go that route. He digressed. "..but things could have been different had I known sooner."

*He pictured being there, confronting his nemesis before the man murdered his parents. The reason no one could stop the Sith warrior was because his methods of combat were unconventional. Completely. No one knew how to take him down. There was no equal present to counter the wild card. But if Seros had been there...he was sure things would have been different. ..But the Council thought it best to hide the truth, as to not allow Seros to fall into the trap of anger.

Did they think he would have fallen then? Did they expect him to fail in maintaining his composure? All the questions that Seros never had answered rattled through his mind, while Faith was still sitting at the other end of the hauler. He practically forgot he was explaining his dilemma to someone else.*

Re: The Works

H.A.W.T. storyline

As Jinx opened her mouth to speak again, she felt the presence of yet another, Janielle, but there was something definitely darker about the frail woman. The frail woman was speaking in a strange voice, or voices rather, to Petrisya. Petrisya yelled at them to get down before she placed herself between Janielle and the other women, her shield helped in protecting them from the flash of powerful light that practically rolled from the woman. The next thing Jinx knew, she, Gwyn, and Ophelia were on the ground with Ophelia pulling her gun and taking aim, but not shooting. She wasn't exactly sure how they got there, but she strongly suspected Ophelia had inadvertently used the Force to push her and Gwyn to the ground.

Almost as if on instinct, Jinx rolled to her side and erected a bubble around them after she hit the ground. Thankfully her sunglasses, and closing her eyes, protected her from being temporarily blinded by the light. She wasn't so sure how well Gwyn and Ophelia's eyes fared against the blinding light, though her main concern wasn't necessarily for their sight at the moment but more for their bodies well being. There was a lot of debris flying around in the wake of Janielles attack. Somehow, Jinx assumed it was being(s) controlling Janielle's body, a concrete slab was upturned and erected in front of Jinx, Ophelia, and Gwyn, effectively cutting them off from seeing Petrisya and Janielle....for the time being anyway.

Whatever Petrisya had done after she placed herself, along with a wall of Force energy, between them and the malevolent beings inhabiting Janielle's small body, Jinx wasn't sure, but she had suddenly started getting flashes/images from Janielles mind. There were three shadowy enemies fighting Janielle for control of her mind until they finally, seemingly, won out and Janielle was silenced.

Unable to actually see Janielle and Petrisya because of the concrete slab at this point, Jinx took this time to cautiously drop the Force Bubble and check to see if Gwyn and Ophelia were okay. Reaching over to Ophelia and meeting her gaze, she put her hand on the the other womans hand (the one with the gun in it), and whispered as she drew more of the Force into herself.

"We need to get out of the street. I'm not sure what's going on, but I do know that I don't want to be caught in the middle of the two of them fighting." She didn't know much about the Ageless except what she'd seen and heard from being around Petrysia and Janielle for the last few months....but she knew enough to know, that even though they were a seemingly frail people, their real power wasn't in their physical strength. Their real power lay in the Force, or at least it did with these two particular women. Looking over to Gwyn, her eyes roamed over the other woman looking for any visible injuries, speaking as she did so.

"Are you okay, Gwyn? Come on we need to move." She started to rise from the ground, cautiously, and look around for potential places they could shield themselves from the onslaught of the fight and come up with a plan of defense or attack if need be.

First their ship gets damaged by a rampaging Gen'dai, and now two of her crew members were trying to kill each other for some odd reason. It was these kind of days that Jinx wished she had just stayed in bed to wallow in her own self pity with a box of chocolates and cheesy "made-for-the-holonet" movies on the Hololifetime network channel....

Re: The Works

H.A.W.T. storyline

*Gwyn was happily enjoying her NutriBar, perhaps a little too much. Her focus waned, as much as she wanted to keep it on the subject at hand. The lessening of suffering suddenly made her realize how weary she was, and just when her focus slipped, her Ageless friends decided to kill each other, with a grand display of powers. She spun around just in time to be blinded by the flash of light, then cry out in surprise as an invisible force grabbed her and dropped her to the ground.* *She felt desperately at her eyes when something small and hard struck her face. Blood poured out from the right side.*

"I can't see..."

*Though it was her right eye that got struck, both her eyes were blinded by the initial flash of light. Now she began to feel panic rising in her chest. This couldn't be happening already! Here she was, sworn to protect those close to her, and now, she can't even help herself. Gwyn fumbled with her right hand for her blaster rifle, but held it rather uselessly, blinking her eyes repeatedly, trying to clear her vision, but she saw nothing but bright white.*

"I can't see!"

*Her frustration was apparent in her voice, then she hears another voice, urgently speaking into her ear.*

=Typhas Tancher's Phantom=
Are you going to let that stop you, Gwyn? Remember your training!

This isn't like training!

=Typhas Tancher's Phantom=
No, but it doesn't mean it's useless. You've done this before. This isn't as hard as Jabiim. Remember, soldier, remember...you were blindfolded, had to listen through the pitter-patter of the constant rain on your helmet, to hear the sound of stormtrooper bootsteps on the muddy ground. The stomping of Imperial walkers. This is the same...remember.

*Her disorientation began to turn to focus as she realized her sight was more than just her vision. Images of her location began to slowly form in her mind's eye as soundwaves painted pictures for her. A wall of ground concrete had been raised between them and the two Ageless. Jinx, her captain, asks if she's all right. The young woman knew she was all right, now, thanks to Tancher.*

Thank you, Typhas...

*Gwyn slowly pushed herself off the ground, using her rifle as a crutch to get some support, then she had the weapon raised, and pointed in the general direction of Janielle, though it was right now, looking at a two meter tall concrete wall, and the girl was obviously blind, the way she was blinking and staring expressionlessly ahead, but her movement was certain, and undoubting, meaning she wasn't affected by her sudden blindness, or by the bleeding from her right eye.*

"There was a small room further back, where Ophelia came from, we could use that for cover..."

Re: The Works

Elsewhere in The Works....

Seros Darklighter wrote:Now would Seros say any of this to Faith, in the 'defense' of the Jedi, as it were?

"See!!" She shouted to no one in particular as her tirade grew. "Even your explanations are evasive and indirect. You are like a bunch of parents thinking everyone in the galaxy is your children, but you only pay attention to the favorites, everyone else can make their own way or ro.... Her voice trailed off as she actually looked at his face again and realized his evasiveness wasn't because he had something to hide, but because that something was painful. And as fast as that, her anger vanished. "You lost someone, didn't you?"

More angst and bitter discourse from the woman. Seros let it bounce off the rim of his ear, that is until her voice cut in half into a short silence. Then she asked it. The question that Seros couldn't easily answer to anyone.

His expression and gaze descended solemnly. Could he divulge the details to a complete stranger? I mean, who was she gonna tell? But..on the other hand, Seros hadn't told anyone the full details yet. Vocalizing those innermost thoughts held an unknown outcome even for Seros himself. Faith's impression of Jedi weren't the best to begin with. So..

..he let his silence affirm her inquiry as he threw another piece of refuse from in between the upper door slats of the hauler.
"...Family. ..Gone. Mother, father..." his lip curled under a smidge at the last thought, with his cacophonous body language giving a that slight edge to his demeanor. "..and a brother."
