Treatment of a Friend

Whill Adil wrote:Thank you. This is a disgusting treatment of one of the best, honest, straight Whills ever to grace this site. As one of the people that have been touched by his compassion and willingness to help whether IC or IRL....I feel it's my duty to question the remaining Whills to this statement's authenticity and if so.....

Why would you do such a thing to Adil? To force him into such a situation!

I'm one of many who are very worried about this course of action, if this is true. If this IS true...then this is the last thing we need....politics within the Whills.....

I know I've been pretty good recently, but seeing as Adil's helped and always been friendly towards me.....I've been polite about it.....What on earth is going on?

I back Vale (strange, I know) in this sentiment. If what he has said is the truth then I question what sort of operation is being run within the WPC.

I am afraid I must agree. You know I love you all, and appreciate all that you do for the site but... upon reading the above quote, I must say I am very disappointed. :(

Please explain... please?

Re: Treatment of a Friend

I, too, back the honorable (this time) Vale in his argument. Adil's been a friend for a long time and I'd hate to see him go in such... disgrace. There seems to be something wrong. I'm not one to know much about politics but there's something not right with this.

Re: Treatment of a Friend

I as well must agree with the others. Adil has always been there for us and has always been nice. So if the below quote is true please care to explain it to us.

Re: Treatment of a Friend

Having read through the supposed happenings leading up to this end; I, too, take issue with this situation. Not on account of trying to talk Adil into recalling his resignation; but to question the Whills on validity of the statement. Saying that his demeanor was wrong to have dealt with certain matters the way he had would be ludicrous in my opinion, and an extremely unfair call to be made by fellow Whills.
Normally I'm not one to rock the boat in this manner, but I am rather disturbed by this news.

Re: Treatment of a Friend

Having been on the site for a little over a year now, I have seen Adil at work in his usual Fair way of dealing things and have grown to respect him as being one of the coolest dudes ever. So, seeing him post the above quote, I nearly crapped my pants and became somewhat angered (this is me holding in my disappointment) by his words of being forced out.

So I back Vale in his sentiment and wish to see Adil remain so that Trogdor may strike again!

I have to admit I am rather disappointed with Adil for writing that, let alone publicly. You may ask why of course; it's a fair question. I am happy to explain.

For Adil to say he was correcting a player is untrue; he was effectively issuing an ultimatum. An unfair ultimatum too, as I am sure Vale you would be one of the first players to agree that a player deserves some kind of explanation when a Whill takes action against them.

For Adil to say ALL other Whills told him he could not moderate openly is untrue; all Whills have the right to moderate and none say different, but how he handled the matter contravened the Whill Code of Conduct.

For Adil to say that other Whills recommend cow-towing is untrue; while we are here for the players and our job is to facilitate their enjoyment, we should not and do not let them walk all over us.

For Adil to say that he has not spoken angrily is untrue; he has indeed done so quite vehemently. I know of players that have been IRed for much less.

For Adil is say he did not issue the warning he was threatening is untrue. ACP logs show that he did issue the warning, then later rescinded it.

For Adil to say he has been classified as a "dark Whill" is true, but by none other than himself.

And finally, for Adil to talk about the way the other Whills speak to and about him as if he is always wrong offends me personally, for up until now I am always assumed Adil and I had a good relationship. More than just assumed; I was sure of it. Not so sure anymore however.

Finally, the 'situation' that Adil is in - having deleted his player acocunt and retiring his Whill account - is not really a situation so much as a decision; a decision he made of his own volition, and one he made before one such as I even had the opportunity to discuss it with him.

So Vale, before you get on your high horse and go making accusations, I strongly suggest you find out the facts. So many times over the years have I seen you make accusations and insinuations that are hurtful or insulting and also often turn out to be untrue. I recommend that you break the habit.

But wait you might say, I was 'just asking'. Well go back and read the very first line of your post; its nothing less than a condemnation of the whole Whill council.

Now Jair, Altus, Fallen, Apollo & Marv; I do appreacite your comments and sentiments. They are heard. Adil has indeed been a great support to many including myself. But the case is not so simple. And the truth is that this is not about any kind of behind the scenes politics; it's simply that Adil has CHOSEN to move on, based on the fact that he feels he has been wronged and that his brother and sister Whills want him gone. It is not true, but I will admit to some tension between some of my "siblings", as does happen in all groups from time to time. But it is certainly not my sentiment. While I do say and will continue to say I think Adil handled the situation he was in poorly, he is not the first and will not be the last Whill to make a mistake; a fact we must all keep in mind. But he has chosen his road.

Should you have any more queries or questions on this, I would be happy to oblige you.

Yours truly,
Whill Odin

Re: Treatment of a Friend

Thanks for the explanation, Odin. While I still don't understand how Adil handled the situation poorly, I won't claim to know the proper Whill conduct or anything of the like either, nor do I feel any need to press the issue further.

Re: Treatment of a Friend

Based on the explanation, I conclude that I'll not judge anybody on either side of the issue, cause I wasn't there, and therefore I don't know the whole story. Needless to say, Adil, you will be sorely missed, and you're welcome to come back at any time, to open arms. :(

How else am I supposed to drag you down to deal with this? You know I don't do things by half. Also, you are correct that I'm just asking for the circumstances that would have left Adil feeling like he is. He's the sort of person that wouldn't just rant for the sake of it, so one must assume that something pushed him over the edge. That thing, from his words, was his treatment at the hands of his fellow Whills (even if not literally "all" of them).

Because, as we all know, there's no smoke without fire. And if the Whills are acting like this to drive a well-respected member of their group to leaving, I'm going to be the rebel again and say, 'I don't think I'll be able to take you seriously anymore because of your treatment of Adil'.

You've listed and replied to everything Adil has said. This is exactly what I thought you would do; it's so predictable it's comical.

I insult people on a daily basis; I'll be the first to accept that fact. I don't need you to get on YOUR high horse and tell me how I act, because although it seems odd to you, I know myself!

I'm about to delete my account, but let me say that Odin, you're so full of it right now and you don't even know how well Apollo knows it. He was there for the entirety of what happened, but is too polite to say so. And you, Vale, the way you're being treated, the things you find so predictable: These are the very things I'm not putting up with anymore. That the players would be told things openly in public is your biggest concern, Odin? It's the players with whom I've connected. Why should they not be told EVERYTHING, whether bad or good?

Peace.

Adil - you've been a friend and a world-class Admin. I won't forget you easily. I shall try to emulate you with my conduct on this site so that no-one will forget you.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. My access to the ACP has already been taken away. You don't even SEE the way you treat others. How is lack of trust SUPPOSED to feel so that someone can actually be a GOOD person in your narrowly-visioned eyes? Riotous. Truly riotous.

Sorry Adil, I love you to death and that type of attack may have flown against us in the council but you cannot call a player out like that.

And yet it is the players who have come to my aid. Notice.

Now please do as I've said and delete Whill Adil and this Ray Ray nonsense. Thank you.

Deleted Mon ami, but Adil is deactivated, you can come back at any time with a simple Email. I am sorry to see you go still and I am sorry to edit your last post, but it wasn't fitting for someone so loved to go out with such a hateful message, it wasn't you sir.

In case anyone doesn't know, the stuff deleted was about Leto being the irate player in question.
